Dude I'm so glad you said this. Only people that aren't from California call it Cali.

maybe in so cal or something. But when im typing it out usually refer to it as cali. Ive lived in sacramento my whole life. sometimes call it cali. So. Theory disproved. I also eat dollar pizzas and smoke ganja. and drive a beater Typical cali liven.

I live in California and even lived in Sacramento for a while and I have to say either you are lying or you are a douche because I have yet to hear one person I know refer to it as cali.

Yes, I have ALOT of business in LA... Constant de ja vu, the strip mall where my fave Korean bbq restaurant is (on west 4th) has been beautifully recreated in the game into being the home for Ammunation!

It's quite honestly pretty creepy finding yourself in a perpetual state on "double take" on a city, beautiful job by R*! :O:p

i visited LA a few years ago, and i kept getting these creepy media deja-vus, seeing all the places i've been to in games (GTA San Andreas, LA Noire etc.) and have seen in movies (feels like 99% of them play in LA) and tv shows (dito).such a strange sensation.

I honestly want to go to New York just so I can be like Lazlow, "literally walking the streets here of Liberty City".

It's one my my life-long goals to go to Hove Beach and pretend I'm getting the Off The Boat achievement. Seriously.

Have a friend take a photo of you as you do it, then photoshop the 'achievement unlocked' popup over it. Put that in your photo album and show it proudly. Anyone who doesn't get it, doesn't get you and must be removed from your life, lest they hamper your quest for gaming godhood.

Brighton Beach. Home to many an Uncle Vlad.

Liberty City feels a lot like NYC. Or, rather, exactly how it was during 2007 (that's when I left). But now The Bronx (Bohan) is littered with puerto ricans in skinny jeans staring at their phones and the rent's gone up so it's more like Brooklyn (Broker) but with a worse rep and more prostitutes... so yeah, GTA IV was a good representation, haha. I forgot what they renamed it but when I saw the fake V.I.M. store, I got homesick.

But to get back on topic, from what I'm reading in this thread, it seems LA and LS are equally as matched if not better matched so I'm interested. Never been to LA before but now I know to not say "Cali" or someone will rage on me for it. Good to know.

..how closely Los Santos resembles the real Los Angeles? I am here for the first time right now and it is crazy how similar it is.,..even my daughters started yelling out locations from the game as we past them. Do any people who live here have some real life Los Angeles pics they can post with in game pics of locations in the game that are the same....I want to show them to my daughters, and actually I am kinda curious to see them myself.

not trying be sarcastic bro... but you just now realized that?

But the similarities stop here. Sadly the attention to detail and realism R* put into designing GTA V is just about the only thing which they've done right for SA's successor IMO.

Anyhow, R* used Google earth as a baseline when designing the game map. So there are bound to be many similarities to real LA buildings at certain map locations.

There was a HUGE picture thread on this in the SP section when GTA V first came out. I'll see if I can find it and post the link here.

I just realized how much I hate it annoys me when people say Cali, it reminds me of prepubescent teens who feel the need to shorten everything, to make them look "cool". Also those kids that wear California Republic T-Shirts, with weed and sh*t on them because everyone in California smokes f*cking weed and we all love Marilyn Monroe and what not. Yay

OT: Only places I've seen and been able to compare is are:Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Sign, Beverly Center
