..how closely Los Santos resembles the real Los Angeles? I am here for the first time right now and it is crazy how similar it is.,..even my daughters started yelling out locations from the game as we past them. Do any people who live here have some real life Los Angeles pics they can post with in game pics of locations in the game that are the same....I want to show them to my daughters, and actually I am kinda curious to see them myself.

I'm in the UK and the other night, i watched a program called Networks of Power. It talks about the concentration of power in different cities around the world.

Anyway, they had one on L.A the other night, and i couldn't stop seeing things that looked familiar from the game. I don't just mean the main sights but the layout of the city.

Really impressed how they managed to get it looking so close to the real L.A

I lived in Cali for a few years.. GTA V map resembles southern Cali as a whole.. Not just Los Angeles.

I honestly want to go to New York just so I can be like Lazlow, "literally walking the streets here of Liberty City".
It's one my my life-long goals to go to Hove Beach and pretend I'm getting the Off The Boat achievement. Seriously.

NYC PATROL

Never been to Los Angeles but I've watched plenty of movies and tv shows of it over the years. Seen a ton of pictures. They did a heck of a job cramming in the atmosphere of LA into V. Just like LC in IV. R* is only getting better and better when it comes to re-creating cities/countrysides.

R* did send a good number of employees to L.A. who actually took many many pictures of L.A. and It's many sights. I've lived in L.A. for pretty much all my life and still am very impressed with the job that R* did. The amount of stuff that they crammed in and the job that the game developers did to recreate to make L.S. look as realistic and similar as possible to L.A. is top notch work.

everyone on here from LA has told me LS is sh*t compared to real LA. only thing they got right was the beach and the pier

now liberty city felt like NYC. I've traveled there before and drove almost everywhere through it and it feels similar to Liberty city in GTA IV. like i knew where i was in the city and kind of my way around because of GTA IV.

I wouldnt say all buildings but most buildings in GTA IV & V are directly based off real life buildings everything from autoshops to bagel stores to skyscrapers and more.

Lazlow says a lot of things. Hopefully I'll meet a guy doing a music video with a rain machine, a friendly hot dog guy, a guy touching himself by talking about wearing tight jeans and get kicked out of a cab after spitting in it.

Let's just hope a stranger won't constantly call me to go bowling.

I thought they're pretty spot on with the major landmarks, but then again I'm not really in a position to know better since I've only been to LA once (after GTA V was released) I mean look at, Hollywood Blvd (doesn't look as cool as in the movies), Griffith Observatory, the skyscrapers downtown, Koreatown, I even got excited going through that tunnel on the way up to the observatory. Of course LA is way, way bigger though.

Now NYC felt different, the landmarks were pretty spot on too, but GTA IV makes the city look too dull, and there's never enough vehicles and peds on the streets to fully recreate the NYC atmosphere.

I think from now on I should visit US cities only after R* has released a version of them, so I can get a basic picture of the feel and environment of the city first.

It's like Readers Digest Condensed southern California. LA is far too sprawling to accurately portray in a game but LS is pretty good. I haven't spent much time in LA but I've been to quite a lot of the IRL locations of Blaine County. My brother used to live just a little ways away from the wind farm outside Palm Springs for years. What I notice more than anything about else in the game is the crazy amount of rain there. Nothing like the reality of California weather.

A little further north. Never heard anyone but college kids from elsewhere call it cali.

if traffic and peds were like real NYC or LA. the game would lag up a storm and it would not be fun to drive through the city with so much traffic.

Considering LA is mostly sprawling suburbs of slums and McMansions, I think rockstar did a great job of portraying the city in the limited space they used. Mt. Chiliad on the other hand...

i wouldve rather had a larger, more detailed, immurse, and in depth city than having the boring mountains with nothing to do there.

Its nothing like the real thing, its scaled down and focuses on the bigger landmarks. That said its just like a scaled dowm version of LA
