GTA compared to other games

Did someone ever notice how other games just kind of suck compared to GTA?

I mean take Call of Duty or Ghost Recon; at first the graphics are sweet and everything is fine until _bump_ you walk into a wall or you are gunned down by some invisible enemy. You feel like your playing a 2D game.

I am talking here about both graphics and gameplay.

If someone gave me access to every game expect GTA or vice versa?? I would pick GTA, even if it was the only game I will ever play.

It almost ruins other games.

Funnily enough I am having a conversation right now about FarCry 3. Best game of 2012/13 IMO but when you finished it (whichever ending you chose) there really was nothing to do. Absolutely no replay value and you couldn't replay the missions without starting over.

I restarted the game and did the missions and unlocked the radio towers but didn't capture all the outposts, just to give it some replayability!

And then they brought out the DLC...Blood Dragon. OMG.

The moral of the story is this; FC 3 was a superb game but when it was over it was over. And then they gave us a DLC that was utterly terrible.

At least GTA V has mission replay and good freeroam gameplay, but if R* were to deliver a DLC comparable with Red Dragon there will be one hell of a backlash!

What's wrong with Blood Dragon? It was meant to be a spoof of 80s Cartoons and Action Movies, they even got Kyle from the original Terminator film to voice the protagonist! They stated they wanted to do something completely different with the assets for the DLC, much like Rockstar did with RDR when they did Undead Nightmare. There was soo many refernces in Blood Dragon just throwing back to the 80s, the cheesy quotes, over the top cyborgs, etc, with a nice hint of 80s anime in there as well.

Blood dragon was amazingly great fun, it was the kind of game I always wanted someone to make.

Almost as good as the vanilla game!

Jeez, is this a fanboy topic or what? smh...

I play all sorts of games so I don't di** ride just one particular game or game series for that matter.

If I'm having fun playing ANY game than that suits me just fine.

Other games are in different class. Call Of Duty and Ghost Recon are FPS, they have their own gameplay style and experience.

But if we talk about sandbox games, GTA is the top legend brand. No sandbox game series reach the GTA's brand value and quality. There are few good sandbox games like Far Cry 3, Read Dead Redemption or Mafia 2 but their game series have no strong background and quality like GTA series have.

Red Dead Redemption is still pretty much considered Rockstar's masterpiece of the last generation in terms of atmosphere, writing and gameplay that blended together and worked.

Mafia 2, whilst having an OK story, still kicked ass in terms of interactions and advanced pedestrians. Being able to do pointless things like walk around your house, turning the radio on and off, messing with the taps, going into the fridge and grabbing something to eat or an original American cola, etc. Along with the outside world to, people breaking down and the player having the choice of helping out to get their vehicles working, or if you commit a crime, certain peds would be giving reports to the police, and if you were wearing the same clothing or returned too soon, they'd scream and point you out to the cops. Little things like that.

What's wrong with Blood Dragon?

The only good thing about it was that it was hyped as being terrible and it was. At least it was honest.

But my point is, would you be happy if the much awaited GTA V DLC turned out to be a similar experience? Cyborgs and Neon lasers on the shores of the Alamo Sea?

...Yes, that sounds pretty good, or an Alien Invasion DLC in the vein of "They Live", etc, are you not a fan of that 80s style then?

edit: And just to clarify, I'd take that over Zombies anyday.

edit: OMG Saying that, it's got my mind going, all Grindhouse style to, A revived Cyborg Johnny Klebitz, he was man who was killed, BUT THEY BROUGHT HIM BACK, Johnny Klebitz is... THE NEON RIDER, reborn as a cyborg in Blaine County, it's 2050, Los Santos has fallen to Aliens and has been turned into a massive riot city, with people seeking refuge in Blaine County as tribes formed.

Ha ha! No.

I grew up in the 1980's and it was fine then, but let's leave it there!

I don't seperate Red Dead Redemption with GTA series because RDR is a Grand Theft Horse actually:) Made by Rockstar Games, Same gameplay mechanics, same design, same graphics, same gun fight mechanics and character design style. RDR is a GTA which has a very good Western makeup. I enjoyed RDR every second when I was playing it and I felt the Western atmosphere in-depth.

I love Mafia 2 because it has a very good storyline, The Godfather style theme and atmosphere are quite good. You said that there are lot of defects in this game and I saw some of them but I didn't mind them. I focused strengths of Mafia 2 and I enjoyed it. İt is good sandbox for me.

Nobody's said the 'D' word yet.

So I will

Driver was way better than GTA at that time. The best driving game of it's age.

Driver 2 was cool. You could get out of your car. Wow.

Driver 3 (Driv3r) had amazing graphics but awful gameplay. The GTA at that time was San Andreas which whilst being a far better game was cartoon quality graphics compared to D3.

Driver 4 (Parallel lines) was ok but by this time GTA was well ahead and responded with the ground breaking GTA IV.

Driver 5 (San Francisco) was great fun for a couple of hours but GTA V blew it into oblivion.

This is the worst fanboy topic I've ever seen.. even the games you chose to compare it to are literally extremely random.

There's your problem.

You cannot compare a sandbox game to a first person shooter and expect to compare/contrast between the two. Are there differences? Yes, obviously. Can said differences compete with one another? No. Grand Theft Auto is intended for people who want to play bank robber or car thief. Call of Duty is for people who want to play solider. It makes just as much sense as comparing post-it notes to motorbike helmets.

Depends on what game type you like, but I have to agree about Grand Theft Auto's qualitative aspect : it's good !

There are a few games like this:

GTA games have the most rounded and balance free-roam

Gran Turismo games have a physics engine that basically prevents players from enjoying lesser models (except on PC)

Arma games do pretty much the same for other shooters as GT does for other drivers

The way I see it is that most producers put allot of effort into making games idiot proof, whereas the above mentioned games seem to have been made intelligent person proof

Certain GTAs are among the best of games, but that's a really f*cking brash assumption to say no video games of, probably millions, compare to GTA.

Not only do some games of similar genre give it a run for its money, there are also types of games great but completely incomparable to GTA.

Comparing GTA to Portal, to Teltale's Walking Dead, to Halo 3, to Star Craft,

is like comparing a tire iron, to a label maker, to a glass of orange juice, to a fingernail clipper, to a tablet of aspirin.

While I play many kinds of games I feel the only games that really hook me like GTA are the Assassin's Creed games. I'd consider Assassin's Creed II to be just as good as any GTA really.

There's only one series which I personally think is better than GTA, and that's The Elder Scrolls. I've been playing TES long before GTA came around.

That does not mean that other games suck compared to GTA though. If that's your opinion OP, then it's your opinion, we all have different tastes, but I personally do not agree with you at all. There are lots of games out there that are giving GTA a run for its money imo.

Gta Is By FAR My favourite Video game Series nothing else Compares Overall . but as people have Already said you Are comparing Gta to the Wrong games if you compare Gta To Games Like Mafia 2 Sleeping Dogs And Saints row 1 its a fairer Comparison and those 3 can Hold their Own Against most Gta Games IMO

So i kinda Agree and Disagree.
