Is the Vestra any good?

So, having accumulated a bit of dough, I'm thinking of getting a Vestra for one of the characters. However, looking at its stats on social club, they seem way lower than even the slowest plane.

So, my question is, how good (i.e. speed/maneuverability wise) is Vestra in actuality? Is it fun to fly, or is it really the slowest plane? How does it compare to, say, the Mallard stunt plane?

Its the second fastest plane next to the Fighter Jet... But the fastest you can buy ..

 

 

If you enjoy flying then...Might as well get it.

 

I prefer the Mallard for flying anyways, but its alot slower and easy to control. But to each their own.

Stats are complete BS! Why don't you join an air race? The Vestra is the same speed as the other jets, and faster as the propelled ones. It also handles very nice, and is the most fun plane to fly ( compareable to Mallard/Lazer )

 

And its really small, so you can land on the streets or fly through Zancudo tunnel, and it doesn't even need 10 meters to take off, unlike the Mallard as example.

Its ok in speed. great take off. horrible to land. fits 2 people only. cannot fly upside down w/o losing altitude. really good handling (comparable to the Mallard or Lazer)

I know vestra is the 2nd fastest but mallard is way better for stunts and risky flying I love flying a mallard.

Thanks for all the replies. For some reason, I thought you couldn't select it in an air race without buying it first. I've tried it out, the speed and handling feel sweet. Only 2 seats is a bummer, though.

Good buy, while I find it sturdy it doesn't take landings very well...starts to degrade quickly after a few hard landings; so I advise getting the hang of easy set downs other wise it'll have a short lifespan.

I like to snag helicopter rotors with the end of my wing, subsequently killing their power and sending them to the ground, its an art.

I strongly dislike the Mallard and the Lazer's handling.

 

I own a Vestra and a Duster. Both are fun in their own unique ways.

Or are there air races you can use them in? Not sure.

A. Vehicles do not have the same performance in multiplayer, and Rockstar keeps tweaking some's performance characteristics with each update. I've been burned by testing out vehicles in single player before. Comet/Futo/Phoenix/9F are different (i.e. worse) handling-wise, and was not about to take a non-refundable ~1M risk based on that.

B. I wasn't on my console at the time. I was merely perusing the Social Club vehicle stats for Vestra after thinking of buying it, and was surprised by how low they were.

 

Hopefully, this'll be of some help to others considering a Vestra, since there are hardly any threads on the topic. Those who are uninterested are, of course, free to skip it. The last thing I want to do is waste anyone's valuable time.

I have a vestra and enjoy flying it, but it isn't worth nearly $1m, especially if you only grind missions and only have enough to buy it. Should have got it last week with the buy everything for free glitch. Btw, the sp vestra is the exact same as the mp version.

Even though i have the money, and love the plane (tested in SP) the price is too much.

 

I feel it's worth less, around 500k perhaps.

vestra at same time fast , also agile plane . this makes the the agility par with mallard

despite it frail appearance , it capable survive 3 direct hit of homing missiles ( which would fatally destroy you inside plane . but this plane grant u

survivability ) . but despite has ability to teleport inside plane without use of door ( e.g titan's cargo bay , shamal/luxor , velum & manmatus if the co-pilot seat is occupied ) the player cannot teleport the back seat , which means capped at 2 seats as hamper of the vestra ( but makes agility as mallard and durability )

Had thought about getting one but haven't yet.

 

Was in a session the other night and someone in a bounty was flying in the Vestra so I grabbed my Luxor to try to crash it into him to take him out in style....alas, the Luxor couldn't catch it. They were pretty equal in speed so I stayed the same distance from him most of the time. The Luxor seems to climb in altitude faster but the Vestra cruises and dives faster. It's much more maneuverable as well compared to the large jets. And it looks pretty awesome. If you have the cash and enjoy flying non-attack planes, then go for it.

Only thing I hate about the Vestra is it can only carry 2 people and not 7 like it's real life counterpart. But it's a great plane.

Think stunt plane with jet engines and a tiny bit less manoeuvrability.

 

As LightningLord411 said, the only downside is it only seats 2 people, which I was disappointed about.

do an air race with it, you can crash it 100000000 times and respawn flying it. BOOM!

 

Personally as a pilot more than than a driver, I luuuuuuv that thing. Just can't part with all that cash when I have a perfectly good luxor I never use.

So, after using the Vestra for a while in free roam, I'm noticing the same thing ChrilLe posted (nice vid, btw). Namely that the thing can easily outrun Buzzards and their rockets, which means the speed is really good. It is also extremely fun to fly. Probably on par with Mallard in that department. As many have already mentioned, the small 2-p capacity is the biggest drawback. Imagine how awesome it would be to fly 3 other people in that thing! Alas, we can all dream...

The landing seems to be its cryptonite, although I might just have to get used to it more. The assorted colors look great as well, although for a ~1M, I'd prefer to have a black (mini-Luxor-like) one. If you ask me, R* should've released two versions - the colored one for 600-700k (like the cheaper Shamal) and the black version for 950k (like the more 'professional' and expensive Luxor).

 

Now, I have Vestra/Duster, and Mallard/Cuban across both characters. All are fun in their own little ways. I never saw the need to buy a Luxor or Titan, despite the fact that I fly both extensively, since both spawn pretty consistently in the airport.

The only drawback to the Vestra is not being able to climb when upside down. Not a big deal and other than that it's a ton of fun.

I actually spent my hard-earned completely legitimate money on the Vestra because it is so damn awesome. If you want to fly a very fast jet with maneuverability comparable to stunt planes, get yourself one of these bad boys. You won't regret it unless you're looking for a jet which can seat more than two.

It is both extremely maneuverable and extremely wonky. I dare say it's the most skill demanding vehicle since you can flip like a crow in almost any direction but you can't bank against your belly.

 

If you won't notice the lost cash I'd say buy it for sure. If this will come close to breaking you, I'd say wait to see what 'high life' offers.

The Vestra was the first thing I bought from the Business Update.

 

If it could seat four it would be just about perfect, but as it is it's my favorite non-military aircraft in the game.
