How do you use a jet to kill efficiently?

I'm assuming you're talking about the mounted guns and not the missiles.

Use the guns and don't hold RT when making a strafe. The jet maintains a slower cruising speed on it's own. Use that to your advantage.

Needless to say, it's a lot easier said than done. But the general technique is the same one used by whomever rapes me in a jet (I rarely go after players in the Lazer myself).

If they are in cars,tanks watch your minimap,line up your jet and spray the cannons as you pass by.

For dogfights.always use the cannons.

Stay in low altitude to avoid sniper fire.

yea don't be afarid to let it glide for a bit and always be aware of your surroundings (trees, light poles)

This is completely wrong. If anything, it's much easier for a ground target to fight back against most Buzzard attacks than against a Lazer.

Question: When firing off the jet's cannons....are the rounds ONLY hitting the ground when I can physically see the explosions or are they just not rendering all the time? I find I have to get pretty low to the ground to see the explosions from the cannon blasts.

While the landing gear trick is neat, it does make you a much easier target for people who (sometimes) use the Heavy Sniper. It takes a few Heavy Sniper rounds to make your jet smoke. I go for the landing gear thing against tanks only, as I usually go for air vehicles and ground vehicles with the machine guns at fast speed (holding down the gas). I never slow down except for dog fights to make tighter turns. It really depends on who you want to attack, though. As the Heavy Sniper is one of the few enemies of the jet (others being another jet, a good Buzzard/Annihilator pilot and a tank) I usually avoid people on foot. I let them get an air vehicle or a ground vehicle first. The most fun and rewarding thing you can do in a jet is take on another jet.

To take on a jet, I recommend locking on, fire a rocket, wait a bit if you can and fire another. He'll usually do mad spins to avoid your rocket, usually going upwards. Quickly switch to your machine guns and fire away. I'd say 90% of the time I get other jets with this tactic. As said, it depends who you go against. Get a jet and fly about, pick a target and practice on them.

Lol. Yesterday two pairs of players came at me in Buzzards in two different sessions. They were both down in <20 seconds and I went back to thrashing tanks and white dots.

If you can see the explosive ammo going off you're flying too close to the ground. I avoid this simply because sometimes things render in at the last second & can cause you to crash into a pole. & secondly you're a sitting duck if someone is good at aiming the tank cannon.

You need to be very familiar with street layouts so you can use the map to locate your target very easily. Also try to memorize where tall trees and poles are. Don't turn too quickly or else the jet stalls midair and you might crash instead of narrowly missing the building. Never use the missiles as they are completely useless unless you want to pressure another jet you're chasing down to make a maneuver which will allow you to kill with the cannons.

 

Somebody who knows how to fly a jet properly is the scariest thing you can encounter in GTA Online. You cant take them down with a tank, buzzard, or even a sniper. All you can do is die over, go into passive mode and never move, or leave the session. Buzzards, unlike a lot of people seem to think, cant take down a jet. Its so damn easy to avoid the missiles and blow up the buzzard from above or below because it cant shoot you.

Being able to locate exactly where your target is on the map then being able to recognize that spot from the plane is probably the most important part.

The difference of the guy being on the sidewalk as opposed to the street is makes a difference.

Next is knowing the limitations of flying the jet and getting good at nose dives and avoiding objects.

Try practicing on the freeway first then move into town for the more challenging kills.

Honestly, if the Annihilator wasn't such a big helicopter, with those machine guns it has could rival the jet. Well, the jet has really powerful/explosive rounds so it's sort of unfair but the Annihilator is a great air vehicle. It's useless against ground enemies, though.

I agree, I have dropped many jets.

The best way is to hide behind something the opposite side he is flying from and shoot him in the ass after he passes and while he is turning around.

The key is to not get greedy with the trigger and stay in cover when he comes in.Also, moving across the street and no further helps because he thinks you are in the exact same place as the last pass.
