Bike Mechanics?

Recommended Posts

I've recently been joining quite a few bike races and I find them really fun but quite competitive. The thing is that when I come against some pro bike riders they always destroy me in terms of acceleration and speed. I know that you have to get used to your bike but I was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers on things like when the best time to do a wheelie is and when to push down on the thumbstick for a speed boost etc.

ExtremeTorque

Do constant wheelies at the straights and after the turns.

Press down on the thumbstick on corners for more sharp steering.

Also, use your handbrake for braking,it will only make your back wheel stop and you'll have more control

I love bikes IRL(no i dont own one) and in GTA. For bike races never do wheelies while your racing, if you go on a straight line push L3 forward then you will lean forward for a little bit more speed because the bike has a better streamline than. And for acceleration its all about the launch control, hold in the brake and a little bit gas then release the brake and push the gas in for a nice acceleration. Its hard to do that with a bike but you can try it. And for fast cornering, go full speed, when your near the corner brake a little bit and then push the gas full in and you can take nice and fast corners. I always take my bike out for a cruise to the vinewood hills and the curvy/canyon roads.

Some more tips here:

Bikes that get boost doing wheelies:

Bati, Bati RR, Ruffian, Double T 'only up to its 3rd gear, after that lean down', Vader, Nemesis, PCJ600 and Faggio 'Faggio has beast mode if you wheely it correctly without tripping over.'

Bikes that you just need to learn foward on 'AKA tuck in' Akuma. Don't wheely it just lean forward. In a dragrace without the possible boost start, hold your handbrake/rearbrake and rev that engine up to the max.

Bikes that have a small boost in their 2nd gear.

Bati RR, Bati, Ruffian and Double T

-How it works:

ASAP as your bike shifts into its 2nd gear, you keep holding the down the gas, however you give a short tap on the hand break/rear brakes on bikes in the same second that you shift'NEVER release the gas while doing so'. The tap should be as short as it takes to blink your eye. As fast as you hit a letter on your keyboard. You will hear the engine rev up to its max for a good 1.5 seconds after and see that you gain on the bike in front of you. Unless they also do the same.

Learn the timing and combine it with a wheely to boost even more. This can be very nice to let the Bati keep up with the Akuma on tracks with lots of corners 'Bati owns on the straights when it wheelies' Nothing on the road is a match for the Bati's speed. However The Bati always needs to wheely to keep up with the Akuma on any given track.

Wheely it correctly, and it will fly by the Akuma's, Entity's, Turismo's and anything really on the straights and keep up with the Akuma in corners If you wheely it ASAP when you accelerate out of it.

Do it wrong and Akuma riders will pass you by pretty much everywhere.

I hope this is enough to keep you up with the others.

FYI: The bike physics from GTA Vice City's PCJ600 were the absolute best & made motorcycling sooo much fun. Everything from cornering & sliding to maneuverability.... I wish they'd somehow bring that back, because the bikes in GTA V are far too stiff.

Not just physics, The engine sound of the PCJ600 was plain freakin awesome. So much volume.

I like the engine sounds of Motorstorm Apocalypse even more though:

@ninja_gear I didnt know wheelies gave you a boost, i thought it slowed you down. Thats IRL i guess?

And for the engine sounds i wish they were more louder, some bikes sound like scooters lol.

Anyways thx for the tips. OP just read what ninja_gear wrote lol.

Yeah some sound like scooters, however keep in mind that the Bati's are Ducati bikes. They use 2 cilinder engines IRL which gives it some problems along the way with power and also gives it a totally different sound then 4 cilinders used by Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki. Basically they need some more engine value to just to keep up with smaller sized engines on Yamaha/Honda/Suzuki.

The Ducati 848 evo is pretty much like Honda's 600RR, the 1198 are on par with Honda's 1000cc bikes ect.

And about the sounds:

Honda sound aka Dinka's:

Skip to the 1 minute mark. GTA's version sound horrid compared to the real deal.

And there is the Ducati/Bati:

Even though both are pretty off when it comes to the engine sound, you do clearly hear that they did try to make it sound like them.

Also when it comes to wheelying, Yes it slows you down and its just plain dumb that in GTA it makes you go faster. In GTA IV you had to hump your bike in order to gain speed.

You can howver 'with enough HP' still accelerate while you wheely, but it won't let you accelerate as fast as you would tuck in:

And then there is:

Also a nice little drag against a Veyron:

Ninja_Gear to the rescue <3 I tried to wheelie on the Akuma like the noob I am :3

Thats one of the good things about the Akuma, No need to wheely ect. This can be a life saver when you have to dodge some traffic.

Going from a wheely with a Bati to dodging lagged up traffic in front because of your enemies, can cause you to crash. Especially if you are pretty new to bike racing.

I would however also suggest you to test the Bati a bit in racing. Its a beast when you wheely it all the time. You can jump loads of obstacles to when you wheely it.
