He got the job!

Guys, 70 hours a week isnt uncommon for a job for people in the US. Americans are the most money obsessive workaholics in the world

Yet the people that do the least amount of work get the most of the money. It's ridiculous. Americans are practically brainwashed into believing that hard work is a virtue. It's not. Smart work is a virtue. Sometimes that requires working hard. Most of the time it doesn't. Most of the time working hard makes you a gullible underpaid idiot. It' no wonder that everybody is on anti-depressants and in therapy.

Which jobs are you specifically talking about? I know a lot of people jump on bankers, or stockbrokers, or [insert '1%' here] but a lot of those jobs, maybe excluding CEO positions, have work weeks of 120+ hours.

OT:

Congratulations. That's a nice amount of money you're bringing home there. Don't blow it all in one place.

Hasnt replied cos dudes talking out his ass. Thats all it is.

The 'need' for a diploma is a left over from Racist Policy of the last century.

It was used by employers to excuse the non-hire-ability of minority.

Now, Human Resources says the inability to stay in school is a sign that the person is unreliable in society's workplace.

A test is now given in many work places to prove ability in Reading comprehension, maths, and logical skills. Which is all that is needed for most entry level work placement.

BUT, if a worker who lied on application becomes undesirable for ANY reason it is used to discharge the worker for cause.

Background checks include, Criminal record, dishonesty in the workplace, unemployment history. credit history, and any activity that might make the prospective employee a risk for the company. And, a slick employer might sneak in stuff like, sexual orientation, politics, race, health, age, sex, religion and such other unlawful information to bias the situation.

Source? I mean, 120 hours is five full days of work. Even if we distribute that along a whole week, that lends less than 7 hours of personal time each day. When you consider how much time is spent preparing for, and travelling to/from work, that offers maybe 5 hours of sleep a night. You don't see many stockbrokers or bankers working themselves to death, but...

But you do see a high number committing suicide, it is an extremely stressful sector. It isn't like you can flip a switch and you're in home-mode. Every profession has its hazards, for some that's working overtime till absolute exhaustion, for some it is insanely high levels of stress, for others it is both and then some. Whilst I wholly agree that working one self to death doing manual labor is horrible, so is a rapidly deteriorating mental state ultimately leading to suicide. You can't just say he makes more so he deserves it, both cases are equally horrible.

I remember i managed to rack up 98 hours in 2 weeks at my job and caught the flames of Hephaestus for it because we're not supposed to go over a certain amount of hours. Now factor in all i'm doing is looking at water. Worst. Job. Ever.

120 is the standard I've always heard, it seems to be more in the ballpark of 80-120 though, and the jobs in that industry frequently result in mental health disorders, breakdowns, etc.

And it's sad that she died, but to say it was strictly due to her working might be a bit hasty, no? The constant drinking of Krating Daeng, also known as Thai Red Bull, might have contributed to it. Especially if she routinely did things like this:

Scandal regarding unrefrigerated drop sites (SYSCO)

Beginning in the Summer of 2013, the California Department of Public Health is investigating a total of 21 sheds which were never regulated with the state of California and never inspected. This food included overnight drop-offs of chicken, pork, beef, bacon, and milk. An investigative report by NBC Bay Area recorded food sitting in these sheds for up to 5 hours, in temperatures as hot as 81 degrees Fahrenheit, before the food was delivered to hotels and restaurants. An employee speaking anonymously stated that sheds in Spokane, Washington, had refrigerators which were not large enough, and that most of the time there were cases of frozen food sitting on the floor outside the refrigerators.

Now, you are on the inside. :) Edited by lil weasel

  • 4 weeks later...
Odyseous2040

Sorry but I cannot contain my excitement and need to share!

This job starts at 15.13 an hr and has an overnight schedule of 70+ hrs a week.

Yes it will be hard work,. But finding and stacking boxes is kind of my specialty!!

Im so happy that I don't need to struggle anymore and im so happy to get off of GTAO and on to my own life.

Just wanted to share!

Thanks guys!

Great news man.

Good on you for getting gainful work with the economy in its current state. 70 hours a week sounds like hell, but I presume that you'll be able to work out a better deal once you've climbed the ladder a little.

Since working there for 4 weeks now. Its actually about 80 hrs a week.

This job is EXHAUSTING!!

FCKEN CRAAAZZZYYY

Twilight Sky

Actually, the japanese outwork(in hours per day) americans by a margin. And it's not that americans are "money obsessive"(who isn't?). IT is that we have jobs that work the sh*t out of us for little pay but we have difficulties finding better. Leaving a job without one lined up is the worse thing you can do here. There's no telling when in this century you'll get a newer and better job.
