Auto aim: Give us priority options!

After someone put a random bounty on me this morning I had the usual swarm of white dots come flocking to me so I put myself in a position to defend myself... Only I couldn't, because one brought a wanted level with him and was surrounded by police so I could only aim at them because of this crappy system and I was promptly shot.

It's not even just that - the amount of times I can't lock onto a certain player ten feet from me while they insta-kill me as I flaff around wondering why I can't target them seems to be getting more common.

I just wish it would be removed altogether or at least give us a priority list - ie. target player with RPG running at me rather than pedestrian smoking a cigarette peacefully.

I know there are free aim lobbies but I get randomly put in any after races/missions etc, it's just a crap system.

That's my rant of the day. :)

This is one of the many reasons I switched to free-aim.

The targeting the police thing kills me, but it also kills me the way the game will target enemies farther away from you instead of those closest to you. This happens in Survivals. I'll shoot at someone behind a guy getting ever closer to me. You would think in a situation like that, anyone would target the person closest to them if they're both clear shots.

Free aim is ok but pretty boring. Lobbies are dead. Or everyone is sniping on roofs. It's a lot quieter and not much fun even although the pvp is better.

Auto aim is more fun and frantic. Folks say it's easy to get kills...yeah, but much harder to stay alive.

If only the changed the aim priorities. players - police - npc's. And keep the friends priority low it would be ideal.

Agreed, the auto-aim priority system is currently a pile of sh*te, I just tried to kill a player who was really close to me but the auto-aim targetted police that were over a block away, which meant I missed because I couldn't swing the gun in the right direction quickly enough and they didn't have that problem so were able to easily kill me, what the f*ck?

this. free aim lobby equals 5 players all between level 150-500 usually paired up sniping from rooftops.

their is no reason why auto-aim equals aiming at random npc and cops over the person trying...that is going to kill you. other than the force selling of cash cards. the more you die/waste ammo shooting the wrong person/having the game take a full clip of ammo upon your death/paying medical bills/having the cops impound/destroy your car, the more "casual" gamers will have their mom pick up a cash card.

I would think they would add this. I know you can set it so that you won't lock onto crew members, so the mechanics required for this to work are already in game already. Myself, I use the sniper most of the time anyhow, easier to pick your targets out yourself. I only use auto aim in missions, never in free mode.

Only bad thing about auto-aim is how easy it is to get killed in cars right now, IMO. However, that's just me nitpicking and to be honest, I find lock on more fun in missions where killing needs to be quick and not tactical.

Free aim is definitely not full of rooftop snipers. They are extremely rare.

Free aim makes aiming actually relevant but I like the point about survival. It's actually more of a challenge to stay alive.

As far as the actual aiming system, it reminds me of using a buzzard when I'm trying to hit a target and I'm locking onto police. They need to improve it. It's a major function of the game. This should have been fixed in one of the first patches.

Free Aim lobbies are always full, and everyone moves around quite a bit.

Sometimes I regret switching to Free-aim because almost all of my friends play Auto-aim same goes for the crew.

I've played both free aim and auto-aim but tend to prefer auto-aim as that's

the lobbies my friends play in.

One of the reasons I don't go for PVP kills is due to the poor lock on against

other players, I am not good at spotting a player if they're hiding beside a building/

behind something and I always end up targeting some NPC/police and getting headshot or

the player manages to get out of range of my gun or snipes me so have resigned myself I

will never get those player kills weapon tints unless I somehow get better at shooting

in free aim.

I agree though that the lock on in Survival is very bad, having played Boneyard alot

camped in the wrecked plane at the back next to the Minigun in the final levels its

annoying when I have an enemy right beside me and it chooses to target the ones far

away resulting in instant death and me usually screaming at the tv.

I've been playing in free aim for a few weeks and can't say I've experienced these empty lobbies everybody talks about.

When quite a few of our crew are on we're always having trouble fitting everybody into one session.

I have yet to see these mysterious rooftop snipers either. The only thing I've noticed over auto-aim is that people resort to using RPGs and Miniguns a lot faster if you're a better shot than they are.

Its not harder to stay alive. Its harder to have an actual shoot out.

Because in order to have a shoot you need to stay out of aim bot range.

After playing a bunch of captures and other AA pvp modes i've realized the best thing to do is learn where everyone spawns and get away from that area. Then spawn kill them from out of AA range so they can't use aim bots.

That doesn't sound like fun at all.. Its annoying to have to think about aim bot.

The Angel King

They just need to add parties to freemode or add the option to turn on/off on select players, much like the worthless blink until they die option does.

This an issue i talk about all the time...

its just absolutely retarded...

i can think of times my view is towards the enemy, i hit aim to lock, my char. turns 90 degrees to aim at a npc. i turn back toward my enemy, the char. auto locks back towards the npc... im dead... end of story...

Either hold the fire trigger half-way to get free-aim even in AA, or switch to Traditional GTA, where you can quickly switch lock-on targets by moving the right stick left or right.
