How to make giveaways work?

I tried doing a giveaway today but not one person contacted me. How should I make giveaways work better in the future? Thank you.

Contact a MOD.

Send the mod the 'Giveaway' to ensure that a giveaway does in fact exist.

Once the mod receives the giveaway, post the topic and have the mod pin it.

BOOM! Traffic+GTAF members have confirmation said 'giveaway' is legit.

 

that's how I handled giveaways on another forum....although it was a much smaller and tighter knit community that was not about something so popular as GTA.....

Trust me, he couldn't do that unless he had a plane flying all around the world with a flag behind it saying, "go to GtaForums.com and check out my giveaway".

 

I think your Find A Meetup topic was a bit..stale. Make it interesting to read. You probably didn't get much attention as people on the forum don't give away stuff to one another. We're wary about nice people, especially if it's a giveaway, a cash card nonetheless! You could put your topic in your signature like I've done...but it doesn't get attention anyway. *cries*

 

It really depends on how you interact with people. Tell your story once, invite those that are interested and show you're not bullsh*tting. If no one contacts you, why not host a car meet or a chill lobby? That way you'll get people with mics and active on the forum. Then, do a special meet where you say, "I've got this other topic where I give away a cash card, no bullsh*t." Those that are interested will check it out. Keep hosting those events, though, as people will come in and ask, "is that giveaway for real?"

It's not really a giveaway if they have to find a crate for you. When I gave away some cash cards I just gave it to any member who wanted one. I didn't make a whole topic for it because I don't need everyone's attention or praise. Just find someone who posts quality stuff and give it to them. Gave one to some random itzyellowman guy ans another to Insert-Coin-To-Continue

Crates appear at random. The only work required is to see one and message me. Not really hard imo it's just luck. I think they would be getting a pretty good deal.

 

I am not looking for attention or praise. Praise for giving away stuff? That's not even praiseworthy. I just want the achievements so I can get back to enjoying the game.

 

My logic is that if I see about one crate a day, then a hundred pairs of eyes should see many crates, certainly enough for me to get the achievement. I was wrong.

Well if they're having to do something to earn the cash card it's not exactly a giveaway. A giveaway is when they just give it. Like when you go shopping and they giveaway free cokes to anyone. But when you have to guess the difference between Pepsi and coke and if you get it right you can keep the can then it's not a giveaway but a contest.

I've not contacted you because I have yet to find a crate drop. I think crates are just rarer than when every update came with a special crate event.

Well thanks for keeping an eye out. I really appreciate it. I see so many today that don't actually drop. It's so frustrating.

Yeah I was going to say that not only does a special crate have to announce, but it also has to drop. It glitches A LOT of the time, not arriving at all.

I don't understand how people can turn down free money. Maybe they have glitched millions?

 

Well, ask Sum-Guy cuz I gave him a shark card redemption code for helping me with something. This is not a scam. IF even one person could find a crate for me I think they would be able to vouch for me. Go ahead take the plunge and be the brave one to message me when you find a crate.

 

BTW this is for GREEN crates (the regular ones)

Your going to run into more issues than someone messaging you when a crate is about to drop. What if the room is full and your unable to join... the crate drops are more frequent in open sessions than in invite only sessions. Some one will contact you, you won't be able to get in the session and they don't get the reward. Your contest is much more complicated than you believe it to be. (Yes if you have to do anything other than leaving your email or gamertag its a contest and not a giveaway)....trust me I've sold high pressure time shares....we know the difference.

I'll say one last thing - my life doesn't have much meaning outside of GTA and I just want to feel like I accomplished something (getting all the achievements). I know it's sad and pathetic but that's what my life boils down to.

OP I wouldnt stress out about gaining this achievement too much, these special crates seem to be glitched and rare at the moment...in a week or two there will be a social club event and these crates will be dropping every few hours hopefully over a weekend. Otherwise Rockstar will get around to fixing it, just look at those armoured trucks lol

^Well then as i said Rockstar will get around to fixing it eventually, probably not in the next few weeks but eventually this will be fixed. OP you should contact [email protected] , you will have to go through some bullsh*t with automated replies but just keep the ticket open and tell the bot what it wants and you will get a human response eventually, the best they will say is they are looking into the issue but at least you will know you did all you can do to hurry them up.

FWIW, the Special Crates count towards the "Crate Chaser" award as well... I've gotten two Special Crates in solo sessions in the past week.
