Yeah me too. I miss that, it was so much funner having motorcycle crashes and jumping out of cars at high speed, now in gta v all of that is boring af, no impact AT ALL. It really annoys me but it has grown on me.

The only thing I like about IV's physics is that your car didn't blow up if it dropped on it's roof from a few feet in the air.

plus when jumping off something high. atleast Niko tried to land on his feet even if it broke his ankles... now they just dive straight on their face.

IV physics is frustrating when you're actually trying to play though. V made the game much more accommodating and enjoyable.

Besides IV physics were not more realistic. Not at all. Motorcycles don't slip and slide like they do in IV, and super cars don't take corners like dump trucks.

The physics were awful and I hope they stick with these improvements for future games in the series.

I agree OP, for some reason I came into this game on September expecting the physics to be extremely improved from their old games like RDR, Max Payne 3 and of course GTA IV.. instead we have the weirdest version of RAGE ever, too clunky and just hard to look at sometimes.

I totally agree, I can't stand the way characters are so stiff, like they're trying to stay on their feet in V

Actually the new Euphoria engine allows for alive-body dead-body contact, meaning that you can walk against a body and it fully moves, also it has a cool feature in where bodies can be stacked upon each other for those who crave realistic body piles. And it also adapts to anything, in GTA IV if you shot someone in a chair their body would actually glitch out like hell and then off the chair, in GTA V you can just shoot them and they'll be there, no glitches no problems.

I really don't like the way the protagonists feel like they're wearing lead helmets as 9 times out of 10 their tendency is to fall face first. Niko landed more naturally.

Walking and running are the only things that feel better IMO. Other than that it feels like Euphoria had a one night stand with the physics from the Saints Row games at some point.

The whole damn game feels like GTA had a one night stand with the Saints' Row series.

Agreed. I miss the way your character would grab onto ledges, now he just smashes into the wall unless the ledge is super low to the ground, and the way your character ragdolls looks really dumb. Not to mention the car destruction physics REALLY were a step down from GTA IV's.

That is natural? Good god, that is awful. It looks like he is having a f*cking nightmare while in mid-air.

Im not sure if GTA IV had more realistic physics, but they were definitely more fun. GTA IV physics are one of the main reasons I like IV better than V.

Above all else, I really miss the ability to push people. Some of my fondest memories of IV were pushing people down long flights of stairs in the subways.

One thing about V's engine I really like though is the ability to stand on moving cars and trains without falling down or dying.

They definitely toned down the car deformation after crashes. In GTA 4 it used to be a lot more random, and the metal got moulded a lot more.

But it's more realistic in V, because cars nowadays have a lot of plastic and such, cars aren't that malleable in real life as they were in IV. but it was definitely cooler.

I had hoped that in V the crashes would be improved upon IV.

In IV, if you crash, your car will slide about a bit, perhaps roll or whatever, smash a few other cars etc. and those other cars will most likely stop. You could exit your car and see drivers with their heads on the steering wheel, it was awesome.

I hoped they'd expand on that, I'd like to crash, the car wrecked, loads of drivers slamming their breaks to avoid the crash, causing a pileup, with an ambulance and firetruck arriving on scene. THAT would be awesome.

In V though, that's not the case. You smash your $250,000 sports car into a Blista, the Blista slightly nudges, your car has a tiny dent and just carries on like nothing happened. That's pretty damn boring and disappointing every time.

the crashes, the way ppl fell n slid across pavement after being thrown from a car lol

Yeah this a 100% sometimes when I used to get back from a pub I would just drive up and down the pavement in Star Junction riding down innocent peds....it had much more weight to it and was infinitely fun, doing the same thing in V is very lacklustre.

If you watch how the roundhouse pops open, it really shows the benefits of the park.

I love how all the cars in IV felt like there own, as opposed to V, were ther super cars feel/handle the same just like for pick-ups, sedans etc.

Once in GTA V, a car hit me from the side and I was still standing! Franklin was just staggering a bit just like gta IV, but then he got his balance back. This always happened in GTA IV but when I saw it in GTA V I flipped!

GTA 4 had better car collisions and driving off of a roof didn't mean you got blown up every time. A lot of times driving fast down a mountain is an explosion waiting to happen.

And in GTA4, I actually had to knock tf out of another car to kill the driver while now, fender benders cause a ton of casualties.

Other than car collisions and impact, I like GTAVs physics a lot more.

Off topic

I love the pratfall in GTAV but I'm hoping that they change it in SP in a dlc to being able to arrest people, with handcuffs, and taking them downtown.

motorcycle crashes were MUCH more rewarding, along with any other type of crash.

and yea what ever happened to trying to land on your feet when jumping off of stuff......

also grabbing onto the edge of roofs in V is nearly impossible because they had to add that dumb slide off the edge of a building animation. it was cool the first time but id rather be able to jump and grab the edge of roofs
