Heists: Theory and Discussion

Introduction

We all know what heists are and we are all hoping for them to eventually come out. I've been putting a lot of thought on the topic, and I wish to use this thread to spread my ideas. This is my own opinion on the topic and how I think it will work out if it will ever be released. If you want, throw in some suggestions or your own ideas. Hope you enjoy. PS this is a work in progress. I will update this once and a while.

The Heists You Know Of

We all know of the heists in Singleplayer, assuming you got that far. They were fun and very rewarding, yet linear and not so difficult to pull off. The difficult part of those heists was the right method and the right crew. Now that you got this idea of singleplayer heists in your mind, THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW. In Online, linear heists and linear methods will be extremely easy to pull off, especially if Rockstar takes heists the same way they go on with jobs. Here's a list of what you cannot have in online heists.

  • Extra lives
  • Linear ways of comepleting the heist
  • A guarantee to win

Your Crew

You are not running into a bank with a bunch of bad sport shirtless tattoo freak morons who have a grasp on every swear-word in the English language. You need people you trust. People who won't f*ck around when 3 million is on the line. If you are the leader of the crew, I guess it would be fair to determine the payout of each member. But, if anything, it's the same cut for each guy.

How It'll Go Down: Freedom

You need to have the freedom of the ability to roam around the map without specific instructions. You give the instructions to your crew, or vice versa. You get to decide how you get the heist done. Use a sports car to escape? Wanna gas the place? Murder every sonofabitch in your way? Pose as a guard and slowly but surely work your way inside? Do it however you like. You make the plans, not the game.

How It'll Go Down: Equipment

Heists need to a risk. You are putting life and limb on the line for a sweet paycheck that you gotta work for. You think you can just waddle inside a bank with a Combat MG while your buddy waits outside with an Adder and afterwards hide inside the subway? No. Equipment should cost double than normal and you would have to rid of the weapon, vehicle, etc afterwards. Want to bring a buzzard to a 3 million heist? That's 2 million you're not gonna get, buddy.

How It'll Go Down: Death

You f*cked up and died during a heist. Got mowed down by a security guard or an endless supply of NOOSE. You failed your crew. There are no extra lives. Since you can't serve jail time or die forever, you lose the one thing you care about: Money. You not only lose your cut but a large sum of money as well.

That's about it for now. I'll update this once and a while if I'm in the mood. Hope you enjoy.

This ain't a heist suspicion thread, it's just my idea of how it should go.

Don't care heists are going to be heists no matter what. it will be the same idea as a single player heists, it will be about team work and working together to collect and deliver items and cash. :)

We have been tortured with enough ideas about heists, you heartless fiend! All of them the same or extremely similar.

Agree on no extra lives, adds to the difficulty

Disagree on equipment that just punishes people who are veteran criminals. I do like the idea of having to collect some pre-requisite materials though, like knock out gas or untraceable getaway cars, etc

Agree on freedom as long as you accomplish the objectives

Agree on not getting your cut if you die; disagree on it costing you money (other than normal costs of doing business like wasted ammo, etc)

Small time heists should start at level 20 or so and be no more complicated than a Survival, with a similar payout per player. Heists should grow in complexity and payout as you unlock levels. As complexity increases, more players are required to do the heist. A Level 120 heist might be similar to the Union Depository and require 6 people minimum to complete,
