Why are R*s car stats so off?

So the jester is supposed to be the fastest car in the sports class according to it's stats, but It's slower than the elegy which is supposed to be a slower car? Anyone have an idea as to why R*s car stats are always off?

Because the performance of all of the cars seems like some noob typed random numbers in the handling file and called it a day

It's been a long time since I've played a video game where the in-game stats (be it for weapons or cars or what have you) were actually correct down to a T. I've always had to go online and find the actual data to get accurate comparisons.

Jester does have higher top speed than the Elegy. However, the Elegy has superior traction, which allows it to retain more speed while cornering.

Also, there are more internal stats which aren't shown or advertised but still matter.

It's not just the car stats that are messed up either,

My K/D is way off when i was a lvl 3 my K/D was 2.22 or something like that but it said i had 0 kills but 500 deaths which wasn't even possible

I beat the jester in a straight line with the elegy.

Reminds me, In Road Rash 3d on PSX, there are 4 top bikes. Hammerhead, Tsunami, executioner 1000 and Dumoto 999

Hammerhead's handling sucked because it was more a dragrace bike, fastest top speed stats 9.5/10

Tsunami supersport racetrack bike was 2nd fastest, best handling. Top speed stat 9/10

Dumoto999, 8.5/10 on stats, bit more heavy sportbike. Not track ready so to say.

executioner 1000 streetfighter also 8.5/10

However in the end it turned out the Dumoto999 was 15mph faster then the Tsunami, Hammerhead was the slowest and worst handling bike, Tsunami still was the best handling bike and the executioner 1000 was also a waste of space.

Dumoto is the bike seen in in my Avatar and i have a yellow Bati that looks just like it in GTA.

Just felt like sharing that....

This remind sme of the stat bars in Midnight Club 2. I'm not going to get into detail because I'm guessing not many people have heard of or extensively played MC2, but I'm just going to say that the Lusso XT definitely has the highest top speed out of any vehicle despite being shown to have 2/3 the top speed of the RSMC 15. It really pisses me off when game developers don't even know the capabilities of the vehicles/weapons/whatever in their games. Broughy1322 on Youtube does a really good job demonstrating how the cars in GTA V actually perform, if you want to find out.

GrandMaster Smith

I was thinking about this the other night actually and came up with a rather sound theory.

I think top speed and acceleration are based purely off numbers of horsepower and torque. Now you may have car A. that has higher torque than car B., but car B. weighs much less therefore the power:weight ratio is higher than car A. therefore accelerates quicker. This has led me to believe that gutting the car and adding carbon parts may actually slightly effect your speed and acceleration.

Not to mention there is actual wind in the game which may play a role in aerodynamics which irl majorly affects things such as top speed and handling.

Seriously, don't get me started on how lazy the motorcycles were.

A classic chopper with a motor that looks under 250cc? Zero-to-sixty on that bitch! Don't worry, you also brake on a a dime!

Damn hooligans bitching about GTA IV handling.

OMG midnight club 2. you can turn a right 90 degree turn at 60 mph while staying in the right most lane.
