Non Collision Racing

Will they have to disable the other settings when you choose to use non collission or otherwise known as ghost mode?

I just pictured a Ghost race on Long Haul with Catchup on being a headache inducing swarm of cars trading leads and causing gunfire in the race ticker.

It would be even more visually jacked up with slipstream on.

I think they might force people to chose between the crutches.

When they add ghost mode, no one will be playing races with it, because a lot people like to be douchebags and just want to ram other players in races.

I remember playing that snowboard game and it a ghost mode to race against each other. that was pretty cool.

I'm going on a hunch here, but I think choosing No Contact would automatically disable Catchup and Slipstream. Or at least that should be the way it works.

Would love to race my own ghost or a leaderboards ghost. I have less than zero interest in racing live players with collisions off.

Ghost mode is going to fail horrible. I can guarantee you the same people who bitched about being hit in races will complain about having no one to race with or they will complain about how boring ghost mode is because its like you're racing yourself.

Doesn't really make a difference if they auto-disable them (for me personally). I don't host races with catch up and slipstream on anyway, tbh.

It may or may not disable traffic as well, since you would be able to push cars towards other players, but that may not be much of a problem.

I hope catch up and slipstream are automatically off if ghost mode is on. I doubt it though. Long Haul, no traffic with catch up would be the worst thing ever. Other tracks that involve skill, however, will be quite fun to have ghost on. I wouldn't like it all the time but some times it'll be good when you've had enough of getting pitted. I usually don't mind though, I love seeing people crash and getting pitted infront of me.Then when it happens to me, I make it my goal for the race to get them back.

No, people won't be using it because it's a pussy-ass way to race...I guess nobody knows what a STREET RACE is...they must get confused with that horse sh*t Indy and Nascar racing

I'm guessing you don't know what a street race is either. Contact is largely non-existent in street races. So when you say street race, what I think you mean to say is demolition derby. ;)

It should, otherwise people would be drafting right through other peoples' ghosts

I'm not familiar with the culture of underground racing but I didn't know people using their cars to intentionally cause wrecks in real life was a regular tactic in street racing. Always learning something on gtaforums.

Well niether do I...but that isnt the point I was asking about. It just does not really seem like they will work together. Especially catchup. With this in mind and the fact that most random racez include catchup/slipstream on...this would mean that ghost would default off. When the hosts choose ghost on they will see the other two go off and think "oh hell no" and switch it back.

The result being basically no change in a large portion of the races you get random dropped in.

bumping and causing spin-outs are normal in street racing

Except that they aren't.

Think you've been watching too much F&F :p

Well, the hope is that they would do that, sure. But their track record for the small details on things like this hasn't been particularly great unfortunately.

I doubt it will affect slipstream or catch up in any way.

It will probably be another option that most will be too lazy to employ similar to catch up being turned off.

I am looking forward to it and I like the idea of a few people battling for the lead and you are going to see a lot of "photo finishes"

I think the few that can actually drive will like it since it proves who is the best and the turds that can't drive won't use it as they wouldn't have a chance in hell of winning with it in use.

I'm more so in the camp of not liking this feature. Why? Personally, it's no longer an actual "race" anymore. You're really "racing" against yourself - I mean getting your own personal best lap time and for that you may as well be playing the race alone. And yes, I understand the frustration with pit maneuvers, slamming, bumper clipping - I get it all. I'm probably in the minority here and that's fine.

Two other points though I'd like to add, one related and one not.

1) With Ghost Mode enabled - curious if slip stream will still work as well as catch up (I love that these are options to turn off). I imagine it will no problem, just weird (ghosts leave tangible slip streams huh?).

2) I just want my "No Phone Services" option for Dm/TDm.

I think its a good idea but it just seems strange. Its like youre alone and you cant really use the wlwments to your advantage because you can go through people. Also i like the challenge of odging opponents when they wreck.

I like racing fair but ghost racing takes a lot of the fun out of it.

I'll use it. Idiots pitting you is what keeps me away from racing with randoms.

This - I've only raced once since December, got very tired of mario cart, very quickly

I will play it too because I am tired of being tail spinned cause tampers can't keep up. Lots of people will play it.

Wasnt really trying to debate the merits or uses of the mode. To each his own. Just trying to gauge whether it will effect the availability of the other options.

Then why would you think it would be strange in car racing if it was cool in snowboard racing?? That logic makes no sense

bumping and causing spin-outs are normal in street racingIt's true, they put all those expensive pieces of plastic, expensive paint and expensive performance parts on their cars because they like paying to replace them after a race lol.

I'd like an option for 1 ghost lap before each race to work as a qualifier for when you're racing playlists with your crew or friends.

Racing a 10 race playlist with 12 to 16 people is a bit unfair when the same people start every race at the front for no reason other than being host and luck
