Underwater Mysteries Discovered

I would probably explore the ocean more but every time I try to pick up the sub it just wrecks my cargobob. No matter how careful I try to be.

i thought it was impossible too but one day I was able to move it by setting the sub in a clear area and using the cargo Bob really carefully and I was able to take it to the Alamo sea, its a really dark dark place in there....they say all kinda of ghoulish things live down there...they say they say...

The giant shark I posted was a joke, its meant to be fake, I was just emphasising how creepy the ocean could be.

Anyway lets get back in topic, has anyone found an underwater cave? I've been hearing rumours about them.

Has anyone found anything significant in the murky waters around Fort Zancudo? that area creeps the hell out of me, you can't see a thing down there not even with the submersibles lights.

there is a no water mod if your interested, google the T and C of the mod, you need a jtag though.

I once did the glitch where you can walk underwater, and I went the greatest depth that you can go. It got extremely dark, and I saw this light and I was like WTF? I walk closer to discover it and it is some sort of giant concrete block in the middle of the ocean. It was super weird.

This is an estimate on where that mysterious object is.

You can also beach the sub (run aground) at some cliff's free area, or even take it to some shallow water area, so it'll not "feel" the waves and it will be much easier to cargobob it ;)

Edit @ below - check the SW Alamo Sea area, a bit before Zancudo River

The guys at the mystery hunt theread found some huge checkerboard eye block in Paleto Bay. Mabye you found it too but you were on the wrong side of it so you couldn't see the eye.

Also, am I the only one scared/creeped out of the ocean in GTA V, I just find swimming or driving around the bottom of the ocean extremely creepy, I keep thinking some massive or weird looking thing will pop up.

This is called thalassophobia. I am greatly intrigued and scared of the ocean, when I found out that GTAV had scuba diving simulation I was ecstatic. I love the ocean, I view it as the blue abyss. We have no idea what's down there.

Unfortunately, the ocean seems underused. I would have loved for a giant sea monster to be in it. I don't care if it was hostile or not, it would have been an epic easter egg. A giant sea monster that just swims around, letting you admire the ocean and its terror.

Fortunately, now that the game is on PC someone can mod a megalodon in EASILY. Just take 1 shark unit, increase its size, and plop it somewhere in the ocean. Done.

On another note...there are obviously LOTS of mysteries hidden in the ocean. I want us, the gamers, to create a map that is a masterlist of EVERY ocean treasure. It will be a comprehensive list.

Anyone up for it, let me know.

First of all, some of you need to stop acting tough. Because you're not. Picking fun at a stranger's phobia over the internet heavily hints at you yourself having insecurities. Thalassophobia is quite common. I experience it in games only, not in real life. Phobias do not tend to make a whole lot of sense, you know. But being afraid of the deep blue is pretty legit. It's the lack of control and foresight. Eternal suspense, if you will. I found the ocean in V damn, damn creepy. But I love the detail R* put into it and just the thrill of pissing my phobia in the face so much that I spent hours upon hours scuba diving. Always on the edge! I sweated a lot collecting the sub pieces and the nuclear waste.

also found a another npc in scuba gear way out off Vespucci beach I followed him and got too watch a shark stalk him and kill him, apparently this is rare.

Sorry for this reply coming in so late, but... First of all, I've never seen a NPC with scuba gear. All the other NPCs who are not floating in the very shallow water at the shoreline of Vespucci beach and are actually thrown out of their boats or scared into the water by one of the characters will drown after about a minute of swimming around. I've lured sharks close to the shore, to Vespucci to be exact. And not only do the NPCs not react to sharks at all, sharks do not react to the NPCs, either! Sharks also won't attack your friends during a hangout. They are only interested in stalking/killing our characters. I am not saying you made this up, but knowing the game pretty damn well and having spent so much time in the water, I find this; an NPC in scuba gear + a shark interacting with it, highly unlikely.

OI GUYS!!!! I JUST FOUND SOMETHING!!!!

LOOK AT THE MAP R* GAVE YOU, NOW LOOK AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THE MAP. PUT YOUR FINGER ON THE LARGE COVE AREA AT THE PALOMINO HIGHLANDS. NOW GO RIGHT OUT INTO THE OCEAN AND LOOK AT THE MAP, YOU SHOULD SEE A SHARK SHAPE WATER LINING.

You're very late. Months ago, we had a thread about this here on GTAF, but it got us nowhere. The Chilliad Mystery sub on Reddit found out how different regions, platforms and editions got different maps! Check this out, will you:

Unlike GTAF, Reddit folks are quite productive. They actually investigated this quite well and created a grid:

Still haven't found the cargo plane from "Minor Turbulence" I'm at 100% completion too

Slightly north east of Stab City, in the Alamo Sea.

I've searched the entire sea, found nothing

You won't find it because it's most probably despawned, as things are want to do.

It's there, I crashed into the Alamo sea and coincidentally found the wreckage.

I tried looking for it but i couldn't find it. Have you got a picture of the location, like a point of interest on your map? I just wanna see it for myself

As someone who enjoys swimming in the Alamo Sea (I don't know why), I can confirm that there is, in fact, plane wreckage of some sort at the bottom of it. I found it after I beat the game. I'm not certain if it's supposed to be the plane from Minor Turbulence or not, but it's definitely remains of some sort of plane.

I like activating the invincibility cheat and listen to the ambience below the waves. Something about that mysterious, lonely, and deep feel, I like.

It's like being back in the womb.

You remember being in your mother's womb? Freaky.

I counted 10 Hammerhead sharks (possibly the tail of an eleventh) & one normal shark in the PS4 trailer. I'd like to see them hunting the San Andreas Sea Lion.

I've found plenty of plane wreckage myself, i'm swimming around one now looking for the submarine parts (it's what prompted me to reply) i just wanted to know if the plane from the mission was actually there or if it was one of the plane wrecks that are always under there. I didn't think mission related vehicles unless taken by yourself stick around. I could be wrong though, hence the interest.

Side note, i find the water colour change around FZ interesting and frightening. I've still yet to collect all the nuclear waste because i've had to abandon it on several occasions because my screen has gotten too dark.

Also, what's with the horrendously creepy groaning noise from underwater? Does it grown like that irl? It's a terrible thing to hear through your headphones.

Oh boy, I wish you luck with the sub parts - I do my best to stay clear of the ocean unless I absolutely must go in it for a mission, lol. Yeah, I'm not sure if the wreckage in the Alamo Sea only got there because of the mission or if it's always been there. I'll have to see if it's there at the beginning of the game the next time I start a new save.

The water around FZ is different? I'm not fond of getting the nuclear waste either like the sub parts.

Some people like to think the creepy noises you hear underwater are a sea monster or something.

Yeah, around FZ the water is a coppery brownish red colour and it becomes impossible to see, i ended up scraping T's submarine along what i presumed was a rock face for about 5 minutes before the water became blue again, it was so unnerving.

I'm doing pretty okay with the collecting of the sub parts, had a mad race with a shark, (when you see that red dot appear, doesn't your heart quicken?) to see who could win, me to my dinghy or him to his lunch, (i won, but i feel if i had been a little slower it'd be a different story). I came across that tug boat somebody posted a picture of, the underwater wreckages are so much weirder seeing them on your own tv than simply in a picture. Why are there so many though? Sure, planes and boats crash and sink all the time, but i feel like i'm swimming through the bermuda triangle.

I also found something that looked like a large submersible, only rusty?

The groaning being a sea monster would just be the icing on an already creepy cake. Plus, there are those sea monster/very large fish bones in the ocean........
