Abstract Snapmatic Camera Obscura [Pic Heavy]

There's a difference between "surreal" and "abstract," though the two can often intermingle.

I love the graphic surrealism of the hearses and the church, and the colors and shapes surrounding the Coquette (?) make it a very appealing location.

Here's something I took tonight. While definitely abstract, it's surreal as well. I mean, we all recognize sun coming in through a window, but it's a fiery haze, making it unclear just what the heck is going on! It was in the hanger at Sandy Shores airport where I finished a Gang Fight.

haha, would you like to write my HSC art essay response for me?

LOL. Yeah, I was very active in the arts in high school... about 30 years ago! Now, I make a living as a professional designer and illustrator. :)

Now technically, yes, its a sunset. And a car. But I feel this particular shot is much more about colour, shape and contrast than it is about "here is my car at sunset". Which would look more like...

It might not be abstract but it is beautiful.

Some really nice pictures above!

Here are a few of mine, nowhere near some of the art already in this thread:

Someone here made a thread about feeling insulted of having no imagination yet complained about GTAV/Online being boring and having nothing to do. Man, that user does indeed have no imagination seeing as the pics here are amazing. Thanks for the wonderful pics :D

Yeah, I was really bummed when the thread got deleted. I'm sincerely grateful that my effort to bring it back was recognized. Not only are there some really brilliant images of the game here, which have led me to explore areas of the game I would never have thought of, but there are some pretty brilliant, like-minded individuals posting here, too - and not just in pics.

I only imagine someone feeling "insulted" or "bored" or having "no imagination" visiting a thread like this and calling it stupid or boring, missing the point completely. Thanks for your comment and to anyone walking by... throw down a pic if you've got it, because it ain't doing no good stuck in your virtual camera where no one sees it! :)

Cheers!

I thoroughly enjoyed this thread, notwithstanding the rather loose interpretation of abstract by most. So I tried to take a few abstract pics myself, and found it's much harder than it might look. Kudos to pretty much everyone, whose pictures who have made it look quite effortless.

Only a couple of my attempts are worth sharing:

I call the last one 'Round Peg In A Square Hole'.

'Dark side of the moon' - I like to imagine that the black circle is separate from the picture or that perhaps it's a hole. Going back and forth between those two perspectives

seem to make me a little dizzy. And actually, a little uncomfortable.

@Jobbo, those are absolutely wonderful images. It really is harder than it looks, especially when you've got red blips heading right toward you and your camera says, "Camera full." Aaghck!

And @ezfaun, a very cool image that definitely presents a viewer with the "it could be a..." perspective. I like how the sun creeps over the top of the black circle, too! :)

Thanks for sharing, guys. Love this stuff! Cheers!

Let's just take a second to appreciate the fact that we have a game that allows us to take photos like these. You have to admire a game where you can drive about in a chrome Zentorno throwing sticky bombs around like a monkey hurling its own s**t or you can turn the image on your screen into an art form and share your photos with other people on here.

Well played R*.

These aren't abstract, but perhaps they tell a story. This thread has inspired me to consider taking a few "abstract" photos on my next play.

Yeah he's a great subject to shoot, conveys such sadness... I love the ground fog out there as well, it always silhouettes the light so nicely! :)

This grabbed my eye...

snapmatic-2014-09-20-061846.jpg

It's purposely off-center because I'm not a slave to my need to center it. f*ck you, needs and desires. f*ck you.

And @fw3, you reminded me about this old one...

snapmatic-2014-08-10-025537.jpg

I'm not sure if this would be classed as abstract, but I love the colours. It came out just right...

Great thread, a lot of interesting photography here, but I think it would work better with "avant-garde snapmatic photograpy" or sth like that as a title as not really much photos here could be considered "abstract".

Anyway, here's 2 of my pics that aren't abstract as well:

Brilliant stuff all around! Wow! @~Tiger~, those images are fantastic! I had no idea what I was looking at until I scrolled down. Then I just smiled at the familiarity! :)

@8up local, all four of those are so familiar, yet, not! And @Furry_Monkey, where is that bike parked? Very cool! Love the sun-glow image, as well!

I was only able to get one capture in tonight, as the session I was in was like The Purge, with mayhem everywhere!

This one is Untitled. (Man, I hate going to a museum or gallery and finding cool art on the wall which the artist called, "Untitled." I mean, really... tell me a story, dammmit!! Give me a name!!! LOL!)
