High level players vs low level players

Has anybody noticed the differences in mentality that go along with players character levels in GTAO? GTAO is chaotic, to say the least but I feel that there is a mental progression that goes along with a characters progression in the game. Typically the most violent people I encounter are the lower level players (tank griefers as well) that are just out for blood and mayhem, those of which haven't quite had the gta experience the higher levels have had.

Is this a common conception of the online community?

This is meant to be a discussion, not an argument.

They were likely indoctrinated to this play style early by one of the "If it moves, kill it." players and now just assume every approaching white dot is coming to kill them. Or they are second characters created for trolling purposes.

Don't blame the level, blame the player.

Some low level players want to be the boss hog in 3 minutes and think you can Rambo through DM's (in AA, to boot)...

I used to try to help the poor, low level guys out until they fell into the habit of killing me anytime I got close. As if someone approaching with no weapon or honking in a car just to help isn't enough incentive to NOT kill. GTAO is just becoming a repetition of blandness and boredom from the lack of player interaction (besides the constant massacring). I wanna experience more of the game, rather than just shoot outs with players.

Nah, if the people are jerks, they'll be jerks, levels have nothing to do with it. I've run across aggressive low levels, and laid back low levels, aggressive high levels, and high levels that just wanted to 'shoot the [email protected]#t' and hang out. So you can't generalize based on levels.

I could argue just as easily however that some of the biggest bullies are the ridiculously high ranked folks. I'm talking your 500+ variety.

I personally hate the concept of "unlocking" things via rank in this game. It's such a half baked idea here and it's implemented even worse. A player shouldn't have to spend days of power leveling/grinding to unlock a minigun.

What's worse is how it applies to things outside of weaponry - cars and armor, clothing, really the list goes on. I'd much rather see you have to do something like "Kill 10 players with a Pistol to unlock a Combat Pistol", "Kill 15 players with a Combat Pistol to unlock an AP Pistol". Some sort of progression like that makes more sense to me (start low on the weaponry tier and work your way up with "experience" in the sense of time spent/target kill".

Ultimately though I'd much rather not see rank at all in this game and a complete overhaul of how upgrades to anything are released.

G37, I couldn't agree more with the progression system. Unlocks should definitely be obtainable through experience with that particular item and not with some flawed ranking system. But generally I don't have a problem with anyone above rank 40 + (72-75 are usually the only ones because of tanks) or so. Maybe it's just by chance that I'm encountering such problems with lower levels the past two or three weeks.

The ones I tend to avoid are those ranked 15 - 25 they're still fresh and will kill you when you let your guard down just to gain RP. Also 65 - 80 as they're mucking around with the tank. Anyone above rank 500 I tend to find are a**holes who glitch and love killing using god mode or wall hacks.

Rank 85 - 400 seem to be the coolest they have pretty much everything unlocked and generally aren't worried about RP or cash.

In my experience it's the high level players that have a superiority complex. I get shot at almost always by players over level 100, while those with low levels want to hang out mostly.

An asshole is an asshole. I don't think levels/ranks have anything to do with it.

Mid leveled players (40-70) are the worst. Biggest griefers and idiots just trying to piss people off.

Sometimes I give tanks away to lowlevels. Sometimes I spawnkill the sh*t out of someone that ran me over once. I'm 136 - rank has nothing to do with how you are.

Hey that was my line haha level 200 here and yes I still attempt to kill anything that moves.

@above.. I did this once and was killed by my own tank lol that was the last time.

Couldn't agree more. I am the same player now at level 97 that I was at level 1, I just have more stuff and the ability to defend myself. I would say a lot of the animosity from low level players comes from you high level players that like to bully the "noobs". You know who you are, the guys who will sticky bomb or snipe a level 5 just because they are no match. I remember what that was like. My nemesis spawn killed me 12 times when I was a level 7, and still to this day he is my nemesis. I can defend myself now, I don't get picked on like I used to. And I help all the low level players I can because I remember what it was like. I played a lot of invite only sessions because I absolutely couldn't even move down the street to sell a car to lsc without being sniped. Lower Level players may be hostile, but it's because nobody has given them a reason to trust other players. Why would they? And an incentive to unlock new weapons by killing other players? No way, you think gtao is chaos now? Make it mandatory to kill other players to unlock weapons and there will literally be no interactions between players, just a desolate war zone. My .02

My motto with low level players has been always be friendly to them in a new lobby, everytime I encoutner I always have the salute taunt setup, and use it without weapons in hand, and if he kills once I might give him the benefit of the doubt depending on our distance or whether he might have been startled but if he does it a second time, I tend to target the player and follow him till stops playing GTAO for that night, just him, no one else, it helps me ease out all the frustrations I have with the current newbies that have joined the GTAO community, its like they are so frustrated with the toughness of unlocking everything in the online world that they feel they need to shoot every high level player and just turn free mode into a constant mass deathmatch.

I will agree assholes come in all Ranks....under my main account i am level 150 or so.......and it seems like i get targeted by lower level players more often than not ......if i use my second character which is level 40 or so i dont seem to be targeted as much ......when i see ranks that are above 400 they are either completed assholes or easy going players...no middle ground

Level 1-20= will shoot you in the chest

Level 20-90= might not shoot you in the face

Level 90+= most likly will shoot you in the face.

If I wanna help low levels by driving them around to stores so they can rob them,I always get my AP Pistol out and reverse my Entity first.

If they shoot,I reverse kill them.

Noobs get killed with Noob Tactics.

Depends on the person, and to a further extent, what mood that person is in. For the most part im(lvl 109) pretty cool with anyone until they fck with me. But sometimes im just out to stir the pot. Like the other day, I was bringing a tank to a guy who had a lower level via cargobob. Son of a btch rockets me as im just dropping it a few car lengths ahead of him....That turned a fairly generous me into the spawn of satan fairly quick in that session.

Always approach with caution is my rule....and if you want to kill me for no reason, well you are not going to enjoy yourself til you quit session.

High-ish level but I'll only attack you if you follow me around when I show you with how I'm trying to get away that you shouldn't be near me, or you shoot me (will only kill, and start on a streak, if I am in turn killed).

But, mostly, the high-levels are assholes. Once you get a rocket, you think you're a king and everyone's a bitch. Too bad that's far from true.

Level 73 here, and I have no intention of buying a tank. I just cruise around in my car looking for gang attacks.

But as others have said. Trolls come in at all ranks, 1 or 100.

on free aim lobbys i found high level players more mature than people below 100 (no offence).. of course there are high level assholes but 80% of time if somone crosses me first with an attitude to shot my back for fun is player below 100. its ridiculous especially that another 60/80% of these below 100 are even less than 80... wtf do they think? :D usually i kill them 2/3 times back in a row and send msg like "bro chill tha fuk out. im tired of nooblike kids" and most of time they just leaving politely.

of course there are some skilled players who just looking for troubles but i found them more fair play than the others. example: they usually start sh*t in front of you just to let you know whats coming and you can join in or out and they dont use silly rpgs or miniguns while free roam and fighting all over los santos. yes that kind of players do exist and yes that behaviour is more like standard if you are above 120......but.. but assholes are everywhere. period.

I wouldn't tar everyone with the same brush.

I find allot of players of all ranks can't resist the urge of trying out a new weapon they just unlocked.

Or just generally trolling.

I find on foot it's more of a free for all but if one person is in a car and then i find it's usually more friendly and they beep and either get in or they go their own way.

those of which haven't quite had the gta experience the higher levels have had.

See people keep forgetting that just because someone is of low rank they think they are new to the game when in reality now a lot of the lower level players are people starting with a 2nd char and have the experience of high level players and that is the majority of the reason why they are able to kick butt so easily and make people go WTF? how are they so good for being such a low level.

I got picked on a lot while i was a low level player starting my 2nd char and owned them 90% of the time they came for me and i was called a hacker/cheater ect because i whupped em when they though they were going to get one over on me.

Approach a low level player cautiously you never know who they really are
