Ok. First, a big thanks to the guys helping me with my gta3 cosplay. I have one more question. Anyone know any vehicle similar to a 1987 Monte Carlo?

The Sabre from GTA IV came to mind first, as mentioned above. I can't recall V having any vehicle similar to a Monte Carlo.

Youre right there is not one. But it would be sweet!

You mentioned cosplay above, if I may ask, what's the Monte for? Only person I can think of that drove one was Julian from 'Trailer Park Boys'.

The cosplay was GTA3

The Monte Carlo was for a friend

The Sabre in GTA 4 was actually a Buick Regal. I miss that car soooo much.

Yeah, I know, but the G body Regal, Monte Carlo, Cutlass, and Grand Prix were more or less the same car. Back in the 80's GM was into recycling parts, and you were lucky if your favorite brand had anything unique. Another big one was the 82-92 Camaro and Firebird. Exact same car mechanically, same motor, trans, and all, had to share doors, and a few other odds and ends. The nose, and rear, and some of the interior were different, but that was all. But the biggest offender was Chrysler. The Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon came off the exact same assembly line, just one dude at the end would slap the Plymouth or Dodge emblems on it, no other difference.

Of all 80's G body cars, the Regal Turbo was king, beating even the Corvettes of the same year. I used to own an 84 Regal, but sadly it was a non turbo model.

Yeah, I'm kind of a car nut. I've owned many a sports/muscle car, and currently have an 86 Z28 that's a project I'm working on.

Yep. I actually used to have an 87 Grand National. I know exactly how fast it was.....but then I got married and had a kid....no more GN. I sure miss that car.

Ha, I know the feeling. When I met my wife I had an 87 IrocZ, and 87 Trans Am, and a 1980 Pontiac Sunbird RWD with a 350 Chevy in it. Other than my project Camaro, I now have a Buick LeSabre, and a Ford station wagon. When you have kids, it puts a hamper on the car projects lol, the money always seems to have to go someplace else. I have 3 kids now, and have only just started getting back into building project cars 13 years later. The car I used to own that I miss the most was my first car (nothing ever beats the first car, must be the nostalgia ), it was a 1974 Ford Maverick 2 door, with a 302 Boss in it. Fun fun car, has me wishing I never got rid of it.

yea GM did a similar thing with other platforms too. The A-body cars are some of my favorites of all time.

Since we are talking turbo GM cars. I ultimately would like to find a Typhoon. Or find a Typhoon engine to put into my 93 jimmy.

But G-bodies hold a special place with me, they are bad ass cars, both performance and styling.

Sabre from GTA IV is the closest youre gonna get. nothing in GTA V so please give up now. Ive seen someone try to impersonate a supra with a banshee and a person trying to impersonate a Dodge ram with a Rebel. they failed miserably

i personally think i didn't fail at all, the front of the banshee is great for a supra. stop running your little mouth and downgrading any idea that people come up with. This is GTA not a single car is 100% alike to its counterpart, most cars have references from many cars. you're not helping at all in this thread, he was suggesting a car closest to the monte carlo if you dont have a suggestion dont even comment, especially if its a negative remark.

GTA IV had both. The pic above is based on a Monte Carlo. There was also a GN too though. You could hear the turbo when driving it.

There was also the Majestic in SA, also very similar.

It's unfortunate that we can only have one model year of cars in V. There are only a handful that even have a different options package. It would be great to see a better mix of cars that are the same model but different eras and body styles.

Example:

It would be great to see something like this

300px-Emperor-GTA5-Front.png

An old Emperor

kbcVbDW.jpg

Late 90's style

KwJFUhH.jpg

Modern Emperor

I know it's a memory limitation thing but seeing more car variety would be excellent.

I always loved this car in San Andreas. I would always put a NOS system on it, and blaze my way down the highway. Only problem was those darned big rigs, I swear, they had warp drives on them or something because no matter how fast you went, no matter what kind of super car you had, they would always be pulling away from you in front or ramming you from behind.

The Majestic was pretty nice. I always thought of it as a gang car since I would see Ballas driving it.

It was great that IV had both the Sabre AND the Faction in the same game. Not only that but despite IV being set in' 08, it had a good lineup of sedans and other muscle cars. V currently has around 3x as many sports and super cars as there were in IV.

The closest you'l find in V is the Buccaneer. It looks similar to a first generation (1970-72) Monte Carlo.

Actually the Willard Faction was closer to the Regal/GN than the Saber was, where as the Sabre was closer to the old Monte Carlo from the same generation.

Eh Granted both G-bodies, same frame and all that jazz.

God I really want both of them to return, I'd put one of each in my Garage in a hart beat. Also it'd be cool if GTAIV's Bucanneer returned, along with the Tampa, and a few other cars, I digress, IMO they need a GTAIV Returning car pack at some point.
