I'm not the best at starting threads. I've been waiting, so I decided to start one. Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price has said that the game's irreverence and stylization reflects the personality of the company. He compared the game's humor to that of Spyro and Ratchet & Clank.The style is driven by the game's story "theme of freedom and self-expression".The game is expected to use Microsoft's cloud computing to create a living world, where user feedback and ideas such as Internet memes, social commentary, new items, weapons, and characters can be quickly added. The game was announced during Microsoft's E3 2013 press event. It is expected for future release on Xbox One. Shortly after the announcement of Sunset Overdrive during Microsoft's E3 press conference, Insomniac's CEO Ted Price posted a message on the company's website offering a few more details about the game, and why it's exclusive to Xbox One. The trailer showcased a parkour runner taking on mutants in what appeared to be an abandoned city. The game's official description reads, "With an arsenal of kick-a**, overpowered weapons and a knack for traversing the city with hyper agility, it’s not the end of days for you. Your story is just beginning.” Here is Price's reasoning for making the game an Xbox One exclusive: "It may surprise some of our longtime fans that we have partnered with Microsoft Studios to develop Sunset Overdrive exclusively for Xbox One. When we first began discussing this idea with Microsoft, we were initially hesitant to shift back into an exclusive arrangement. But as the Microsoft team began introducing us to the abilities and philosophies driving the development of Xbox One, we knew that Sunset Overdrive was a perfect fit. The Xbox One and Xbox Live will support our ambitions to create an ongoing two-way dialogue with our community. It will also allow us to have quicker production cycles, enabling timely content updates for new weapons, characters, storylines and even pop culture-relevant content like memes based on social commentary." Phil Spencer recently tweeted to say that he has seen an early playable version of the game, this is what he had to say about how it looked. “Saw great looking SO gameplay yesterday with @RealKLobb, game is looking very good.” He also added: “I thought what I saw yesterday (just a daily built) looked better than E3 trailer.” In terms of an announcement about the game progress, Spencer said that we can expect to hear about one of these soon, one Twitter user asked “How many more weeks or months until we hear/see something about this game?”, a reply to this came in the form of: “they are getting fewer and fewer by the day. We’re working really hard on the game!” Spencer was also questioned about the release window for the game, he simply responded to this by saying “2014″, but at least we know that Sunset Overdrive is a game that we will all hold in our hands by Christmas this year. GunWrath Posted April 25, 2014 Share Posted April 25, 2014 I'd like to see some actual gameplay as opposed to a theatrical trailer.. because the trailer of course will sell the game but once they release an actual gameplay, I have a feeling it's going to be an entirely different ball game. It does look pretty interesting, and I'm reminded of crackdown from the gameplay, especially 2 with all the freaks/zeds.
