I played PRE-glitched Billions, then I got over 2 Billion Dollars, and now I'm back down to only about 1 Million dollars. So I've played BOTH sides.... and I understand when people talk about the game being boring if you have nothing to work for.....

But I really loved the game SOOOO much better when I had over 2 Billion dollars. The game was so much more fun and enjoyable. After R* took away the glitched money, I pretty much stopped playing because the game sucked and was boring.

Shark Cards I guess..... smh. And to think that some people actually like shark cards, or think they aren't hurting anything because we don't HAVE to buy them. I laugh at those idiots

Money is an issue in this game because casuals like to have fun not grind.

Money is only an issue if the player makes it an issue.

You don't HAVE to own EVERYTHING in GTA. You don't have to buy a million dollar car in order to play, nor do you need to spend even more upgrading said car. If you chose, you could keep the one car that you are pretty much given at the start of the game and use that car throughout the entire game.

If you want the nicer things in the game, yes, you have to earn them. But, you don't HAVE to buy anything if you choose not to.

If I'm not having fun when playing a game, I don't bitch about how the game works, I simply take the game out of the console.

-Bill

Exactly!

I dont understand this grind vs not grinding thing. You dont have to grind at all, some people grind because they want everything right there right now.

There is zero in this game that you need to grind money for that will effect the gameplay. Its all aesthetic.

I prefer unlocking stuff, with work and other commitments I only get to play about 4 - 5 hours a week, I've been playing since the November and I'm only just about to hit rank 65, I have my apartment that I got early on thanks to the 500K from Rockstar. I still have a space in my 10 car garage cause I can't decide what to get. I brought a cash card in February with some MS points that I got as a gift for Christmas.

I love the happy warm feeling I get when the notification comes on the screen showing a rank up...

@Cmndr shepard...your right and even in that I think they failed. It is way too easy to get to the current top of progression. I wish they had spread the entire progression chart...not from 1 to 120 but from 1 to 1000. In other words mingun at 1000 and RPG at 800 or so etc. That would mean that now after 6 months we would just be barely getting our first legit mid level players at 500. Thats the kind of game I would have enjoyed. But I know that wouldnt fly these days.

I also see a lot of people speaking specificly about having "fun". It just occured to me that that isn't what I look for in games any more. I look for " entertainment". You can be entertained having fun or while watching a good documentary, or enjoying nature, or playing cards or even just sitting with a loved one. I think this might be an important distinction among gamers. If your straight up needing fun out of GTA then I could see how even riding a great rollercoaster could get boring after 100 trips. But if your just looking to be satisfactorily entertained then GTA has such a multitude of ways to do that and will continue to gain more.

Sorry...somewhat off topic...just popped in my head.

unlocking. Freedom creates no purpose in a game, nothing to strive for, and no reason to return.

Funny.... I feel 100% the opposite.

Well, it just goes to show, it takes all types.

Having stuff to unlock gives you various reasons to try something as difficult as it may be to someone. Also it gives you a reason to play often

Its simple really. Do you like freedom to do and own what you want and that will keep you playing. Or does unlocking stuff and working hard for money make you play. Which game model do you like and why.

Personally I loved the billionaire days. D

Cruising with friends. Modding any car. And goofing off. I dont like grinding in a game. Its no longer a game.

Sure people say you can earn enough through play but for people who dont have time for extended play games that force you to grind for things arent fun to the casual gamer.

Let me clarify unlocking and then buying rather than having everything avaliable for little or no cost.

I hate the ultra focus on cash and for someone who plays gta to goof around in free roam ect and who doesn't have much time to grind.

I was bored during the billionaire days. I think it's more about if you're an objective player or a casual player...more than "working" for stuff or getting it for free.

If you're goofing off in free roam most of your GTA life...then having a billion is great...cause you don't have to worry about money. If you're a mission person, it's meaningless...cause your focus is killing NPCs and not other players AND you make money while doing that.

I'm not a huge free roamer...I get very little satisfaction in killing other human players. And while I do like to decompress from time to time and just drive around, I like having an objective more.

This is why I probably would've been bored out of my mind if I played the GTA4 multiplayer...

From what people are saying, you owned nothing and there really weren't any goals to achieve...it was just steal what you want kill what you want. I'm glad they added another dimension to that with this Online aspect...as the other sounds dreary.

Lock that sh*t up... play enough to earn it.

those Orange/LSPD tints look great and are a great way to distinguish the casual FR'mer from an actual fan.

Why do people say you don't have to grind?
I mean, yes, you DON'T have to. You can rank up from 1 to 120 without trying to grind at all, and while using the same rusty Voodoo you picked up and modded for free from level 1, but isn't that a surefire way to make your game awfully stale? The game has a lot of content and you're missing out on it. The constant money constraints made for a very.. choppy experience for me. I'm at 1 mil right now and I can't spend any money without worrying, it's an obnoxious feeling.

I've been around GTA Online since the beginning and the game is split into 2 groups of people.

Newbies who just got in and can only replay missions until death to earn some rank and money.

Old members who are high levels or cheated to get their level and their only objective is griefing poor newbies, because these members already have everything they want and they don't have to care for cash.

Highly generalizing and incorrect. I fit in neither of those two groups and I know a ton of other people who also don't

I think GTA Online is a nice project but it has been unproperly focused. The main focus on GTA Online is GETTING MONEY rather than HAVING FUN. I had to start again from scratch as I switched from Xbox to Ps3 and I'm having a bad time defending myself because my weapons suck (AK is my best at the moment...) and I also spend looong hours grinding underpaid missions to have access to buy new weapons and maybe a car when the High Life DLC comes in.

I GET MONEY by HAVING FUN. Sorry if the entertainment options that GTA:O provides to you aren't fun. I started a second character just for fun. I play the Gerald missions with other low level pistol holders and have a great time. No reason to grind the same mission...I do a variety of things every single time I log on and always come out at least $100K ahead of what I started with. Having fun the entire time because I don't focus my attention on getting money, I just let it come to me while I'm doing whatever I'm doing.

The purpose of GTA Online should be having fun, either alone or in group, and just focus on an entertaining mission/free roam system. If Rockstar developed nice missions and heists rather than caring about selling Bullsh*t Cards, repairing money glitches and making everyone money hungry, GTA Online would be a super exciting game.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. The mission/free roam system is totally fun. Play co-op missions with others...race....play a team deathmatch....run around in freeroam to sell a car and attack an aromored truck, spend a bit on a rampage against police....play another co-op mission....etc. "Nice Missions"? What the f*ck do you want? What is YOUR IDEA of a nice mission? I love American Exports, Extradited, Base Invaders, Stocks and Scares, Landing Gear....I could go on but it's pointless because instead of thinking the co-op missions are a fun time with others, YOU are worried that you're not making enough money fast enough instead of just playing what you like to play and having fun with it.

My gaming experience is not ruined because a player has a garage full of Adders, 9999 billions in cash and a level 9999. My gaming experience is ruined by R* allowing tanks to grief people, taking years in correcting wallbreak/garage break/invisibility glitches and such things.

All the things that "ruined" your experience can be combated by simply joining a mission/race/dm or switching lobbies. Again, you are causing your own problems.

Good point, but I never mentioned anything about grinding only and playing RR and Coveted non-stop from rank 1 to 120.

Additionally, farming the same mission over and over isn't the only way to grind.

What exactly are you worrying about? Why are you worrying about fake money in a game that has no end-game? I'm level 205 or something stupid like that. Never felt a need to grind for anything. I spend money whenever the f*ck I want on whatever I want because I know that money will always come back if I'm playing the game smart. People just want to dick around in freeroam all f*cking day....that's their problem, not the games problem. The game has put in sooooo many ways to bring in a constant revenue stream yet people just don't care to try that hard.

That's you just wasting money, obviously if you change your garage every day you're going to have a hard time in this game, if you weren't so indecisive when it came to your garage this game would be a lot easier for you, and don't act like there's 1000s of cars in this game because eventually you should get a lineup you're happy with, use common sense.

I never stopped myself from buying the things I wanted and never for one moment felt that I was grinding. I played SWG and there were times where you found a good group of mobs that respawned quickly and you stood in one spot killing the same guys over and over for hours...that was a grind. There are people that play the same mission over and over or run the same race over and over and that is grinding...but it isnt necessary. I can manage between 3and 6 hours of play on any given night after work and dinner and interspersed with family matters, which isnt really a lot but since I dont play any other games right now it adds up.

The point is I just play...I play it all, I pay zero attention to what the rewards are, I know I need x dollars to get the next thing I want and I check my bank now and then to see how close I am. The people who grind are the ones who say "I want x car" and then absolutely must have it as soon as possible so they find the single most efficient way to accomplish what is needed. That is on that person and thier impatience...not the game or rockstar. When I say the same thing..."I want x car" I look up the cost and then go about continuing to play the game. When I look at my bank and it says I have enough I go buy it...whether it is today, tommorrow or next week matters not because I was entertaining myself in the process...not working on a mindless grind.

I'm using the word stale because I've been watching Kitchen Nightmares too much, and I hear the word "bland" at least 5-10 times a day. I didn't want to seem like a Ramsey wannabe so I just used the word stale, because it's synonymous.

Er, anyways, again, I was never in favor of people who go on all-out wars on FR. I only stated that grinding (not all the time) to buy the good stuff is a better way to keep yourself hooked onto the game rather than playing the game using the same old content you've been using from the start. Working towards something is so much more satisfying than not working for anything at all.

Most people on here have 0 sense of achievements whatsoever, it's actually quite depressing how most people that play video games have become. But yeah playing various missions and working towards things will definitely help with both immersion and entertainment when it comes to this game. It's really no surprise that people on here that just play only RR/Coveted then run to FR to respray their car 300 times then shoot the same person 100 times would get bored of this game.

Also kitchen nightmares is top tier

I never worried.

It's one of the reasons why I had everything unlocked for my first character before the billionaire days and even before the first $500,000 infusion of legit Rockstar cash. My crew mate hasn't scratched the surface of buying anything cause he's still very tight fisted with his cash.

I spend money for what I want when I want it, cause I know I can make some more. He just hordes his cash, cause like you he worries about not having enough.

I don't get the point of worrying about pretend cash.

I think we should still have to unlock weapons and level up, but money shouldn't exist or it should go much further than it does now.

I had nearly everything I wanted by November thanks to money glitches, and that greatly benefited my experience rather than hinder it, since I still had to level up to get decent weapons, so I was still interested in the game but I could also enjoy it since I didn't have to grind to make money. The only reason I play a lot less nowadays is because of the laggy servers and getting new games.

Unlocking stuff. The game's already stale and boring for many people, just imagine how staler it would be if it weren't for the unlocks.

Anyways I think the game takes it a bit to the extreme though, earning money is a chore and it's easy to burn off all your money with how overpricey everything is.

sounds more like you are talking about real life than a game.

its true both ways. but still.

I'm finding myself mindlessly grinding everytime I turn GTA on, its just Rooftop Rumble over and over again, I wouldn't say I was having fun per say, but it humours me/keeps me satisfactorily entertained while doing it.

I have pretty much everything I want and have no instant desire to purchase anything in the game as of yet, but for some reason I just want more and more and more and more money and feel the need to constantly grind missions.

What I do find though, is as soon as I stop grinding RR, and start doing races and messing about with friends, I get bored 10x quicker because there's no base objective, constantly inbetween different races and no overall goal, its grinding that keeps me in the game for some reason, its almost all I do, yet sitting on $6 million I don't need to, its a mystery.

Try playing different missions lol? If it's about having a base objective and not about GTA$ then the solution should be clear.
