I got bored with IV after the story because there was very little to do other than the usual GTA stuff.

I couldn't connect to most games and when I did the modders killed everyone in the lobby over an over again.

Unlocking things other than skins and clothes is more rewarding.

If you were around in iv on xbox it didnt get bad till 2012. There used to only be scripts for tbogt but in 2012 the simple native trainer was converted to xbox tjats when it was ruined. Untill then it was a good game

The car modders on Ps3 wer cool though.

I had the most fun when I was 100+ and a billionaire. Just f*cking around without a care in the world all the time. Playing under cash and gear restraints just isn't very fun. Just skinner box bullsh*t.

Remember people I also want opinions on grinding vs not having to grind. I should have worded my thread title better lol

There is no grinding required now. People who do so do it by choice.

I made $220K last night in about 4 hours. I played Rooftop Rumble twice when host started before I could back out.

Money is only an issue if the player makes it an issue.

You don't HAVE to own EVERYTHING in GTA. You don't have to buy a million dollar car in order to play, nor do you need to spend even more upgrading said car. If you chose, you could keep the one car that you are pretty much given at the start of the game and use that car throughout the entire game.

If you want the nicer things in the game, yes, you have to earn them. But, you don't HAVE to buy anything if you choose not to.

^^^^THIS. Man, I just laugh and laugh and laugh at people in free roam who I hear bitching about only having $25K in their account, yet when I get near them, they fire off RPG and throw sticky bombs at my car. I just get a kick out of how poor people are at money management. You know what car I drive the majority of the time? A Sultan...Was playing a mission last night where we had to steal an RV on the other side of the map. I had my Sultan and one of other players was, "That's a scrub car. What a piece of sh*t".....he called in a helicopter (spending his cash). I just drove there in my "sh*tmobile", caught the RV, killed the driver and took it over all before the guy in the chopper he spent money on even got there.

No you don't NEED TO HAVE EVERYTHING. You WANT EVERYTHING. And if you want something, you should have to work for it. The Zelda comment further up is perfect.

Never had a need to grind anything, never will grind anything. I'm in no hurry, the game is not going anywhere. If I don't have enough cash to get the car (or whatever) I want, I just play the things I want to play and watch my spending. I don't throw sticky bombs or explosives at everything that moves. Yes, I've completely drained my bank account numerous times (so much so that I couldn't pay the mechanic), yet I'm still currently sitting on 3 mil. Entitled brats and glitchers be damned...I earned my sh*t and had a f*cking great time doing so.

And.... Here's the issue with most people bitching about having to earn things.

As stated before, you don't "NEED" anything that you aren't given in GTA... You certainly don't NEED a Super car.

You also act like when the ability to own a second property comes out, you HAVE to fill it IMMEDIATELY!

Newsflash: You don't have to fill the entire garage in one day. The garage slots aren't gonna disappear if you don't fill them on day 1.

Finally, a good portion of the "casual" cars in the game can be stolen right off the street. You don't have to pay anything for those, either.

There's a common theme that eventually outs itself with threads like this: Impatience.

Although I've already unlocked everything, I would like to be able to have everything unlocked on my second character too but I don't want to grind. Its only a rank 8 or something.

I like unlocking things because if you get a sense of accomplishment if you do.

I remember grinding my way up to the carbine rifle and when I got it, it was a good day in my gta life

While yes, I would like to have everything, it's good to unlock stuff as you play. To prevent from getting bored. :^:

I love "earning."

I've recently reached level 120, & almost immediately lost interest.

too bad there wasn't a way to instantly have $ without having to play the game. how great would that be??

I enjoy the unlock system. I like the sense of character progression and it encourages me to play the other modes and find fun in them in my search for cash. I've made $13 million in the game completely legit, never played a Coveted playlist. I've done some Rumble Grinding but at best me and my friends can do 4-5 in a row before we have to take a break and play in free roam a bit.

To be honest I kind of wish the mission selection menu was gone. It helped spice up the missions we did because myself and 3 others would call Lester, Ron and Martin and we'd pick the highest paying mission out of all of em and do that. Now it's hard to justify doing a mission other then rumble. Yeah some of the missions are fun, but not as fun as dicking around in Free-Mode

Unlocking mods, features, weapons I like. The low payout for missions sucks, but that is why I get cash cards.

If everything was available at the beginning, The game community would be more hostile than it is now.

those Orange/LSPD tints look great and are a great way to distinguish the casual FR'mer from an actual fan.

"Gimme nao, cuz playing the game to unlock features (like games did aaaaalll the way back to the SNES/Genesis days) is steewwpid....what is this, COD???"

How many people honestly played gta iv and said damn im bored all the weapons and cars are given to me

You say that every time....go play IV then if it's the superior game to you.

I hope you guys realize this game wouldn't be as "stale" and boring if you still had something to work for or achieve in this game other than killing each other in FR 20 times over waiting for the next DLC to entertain you for 10 minutes. Instead of sitting there pretending this game is too expensive because you need to repaint your car 200000 times because you're too indecisive to choose a paintjob that you can preview, try actually putting some thought into why this game is boring for you.

My love of unlocking stuff far outweighs my love of having stuff. Once I got to 120, I started a new character. Gotta get those unlocks! I like the feeling of progression, same with games like Oblivion, Fallout etc - I have far more fun early on, when I'm not a demigod with uber-weapons of death. Money really isn't a problem at all, even playing casually, unless you have absolutely no patience and demand immediate gratification and ALL DA SHINIES NAAAAOOOOW.

Unlock stuff but patch all exploits so you have to earn it. That's what makes even uber repetitive games like CoD enjoyable is you're always having to reach the next plateau to get a new toy.

That's the point of GTA. If you say "I don't have time for that" then you missed the entire point of the GTA franchise. You are meant to suffer, to strive, to hope, to be let down, to be held back, and ultimately to "make it" and live the American Dream only through patience and long odds -- that's exactly what Niko and Franklin had to do to get where they are.

Starting a new character will remind you of the spirit of GTA. That before the 10 Adders and heavy snipers you were just a mark-ass bitch on the streets of Los Santos trying to fight tanks with just a pistol and a stolen car Simeon put some rims on for you. Empty bank account, no home, maybe with just a little more hard work you can finally afford the 2-car crackhouse down the street to call your own.

I don't like playing a game where everything is handed to me.

Working for money or unlocking items is what if fun to me.

If I had everything right off the bat, I'd probably stop playing pretty quickly. There'd be no goal left with everything unlocked.

Also, I do grind, because most missions don't give a whole lot of Money/RP.

Sadly RR/Coveted are the only decent missions that reward a lot in a short amount of time.

Sadly we live in a generation where people want the fast track to everything, even in video games.

Earning stuff gives you something to work towards. Theres something nice seeing that in 5 levels you can use a new weapon, or will have access to some new feature.

As others have said, you don't need a garage full of expensive super cars, you don't need every single weapon or item of clothing. The money system is a way of making you choose what you really want instead of just owning everything.

The man who has everything has nothing left to look forward to.

From my experience, I actually enjoy having to pace myself and focus on upgrading my stuff bit-by-bit - even when it's something like a cheap car with low-level mods, the idea of making every custom addition to my stash a 'project' that've put thought, time and effort into makes the whole thing more worthwhile and rewarding.

Thing is, I've been on both sides of the fence - I used my stimulus $$$ to buy a high-end apartment and my favourite supercar, and it was almost 'too easy'. No effort or skill or investment involved, and thus the whole experience felt like "well, that's that done - bored now...". Compare that to the time it took to plan, save and earn to buy my Buzzard (even though I was already past level 40, and could have just glitched money or dropped actual £££ on a Shark Card in seconds, rather than devoting a week's gaming on earning the $1,750k) - it's not just good to own it, but also the enjoyment of getting there, and the reward of finally achieving a goal.

But then again, that's why I play games, and keep coming back to them - as opposed to messing around with the equivalent of a dev kit for an afternoon, exhausting all the content, and having no reason to do so ever again. Or why finally kicking the arse of a notoriously-hard game was a thing to brag about back in the day, compared to the hollow spectacle of using a 'God mode' cheat for sh*ts and giggles.

The problem is that 99% of people who play GTAO wants everything! Quickly, easy and cheap or free (or glitched)

Again, this is a game, not work. Some people don't have a ton of time to devote to the game so they want to get as much fun as possible with as little work. I think the rank system is good for the more serious player, as well as those tints you spoke of, but I do think that money should be more available. As I said before, I like the ranking system in conjunction with the billionaire dollars, you still can't have a pogo mask as a low rank, or many of the upgrades to cars, but at least when you did unlock something, you didn't have to grind to buy it, which could feel like double unlocking duty. Additionally, you could swap cars, re-design your car and have access to all the clothes with very little work.

I think everything should be open from the start and the only thing you'd had to work for would be character customizations.

I've been around GTA Online since the beginning and the game is split into 2 groups of people.

Newbies who just got in and can only replay missions until death to earn some rank and money.

Old members who are high levels or cheated to get their level and their only objective is griefing poor newbies, because these members already have everything they want and they don't have to care for cash.

I think GTA Online is a nice project but it has been unproperly focused. The main focus on GTA Online is GETTING MONEY rather than HAVING FUN. I had to start again from scratch as I switched from Xbox to Ps3 and I'm having a bad time defending myself because my weapons suck (AK is my best at the moment...) and I also spend looong hours grinding underpaid missions to have access to buy new weapons and maybe a car when the High Life DLC comes in.

The purpose of GTA Online should be having fun, either alone or in group, and just focus on an entertaining mission/free roam system. If Rockstar developed nice missions and heists rather than caring about selling Bullsh*t Cards, repairing money glitches and making everyone money hungry, GTA Online would be a super exciting game.

My gaming experience is not ruined because a player has a garage full of Adders, 9999 billions in cash and a level 9999. My gaming experience is ruined by R* allowing tanks to grief people, taking years in correcting wallbreak/garage break/invisibility glitches and such things.

Skip to 3:25 for what I think sums this kind of thing perfectly:

It's also worth considering that this is a game meant to be played in the long term, like an MMO (except with the gameplay actually being FUN, unlike the hordes of WoW-clones out there...) - if you take away any reason to keep coming back, because everything's served up immediate with no effort or investment involved, then that's going to drastically reduced the lifespan of the game (because player investment = continued returns for R* = less likelihood of R* abandoning support for GTAO sooner rather than much, much later).

Sir Michael

Unlocking things is fine because it gives me a reason to play the game. However, there isn't a reason for certain pieces of clothing that cost more than $2,000! Those Business Update and Valentines Day clothing were beyond overpriced.....

Don't even get me on those car upgrades either. They're almost 10 times more expensive than Single Player (25k for a car horn, certain paint jobs, or a simple crew logo????? You can kiss my ass).

this all the way i get maybe 10 hrs a week to play 1 hr of coveted is 200k not including ammo expenses. i like level unlocks but making money is another unlock and its a damn chore. its no longer a game. im not saying the lvl 1 should have a minigun and i guess this thread should be moore of a "do you like earning and buying things or getting them easy" also paint colors fyi but you canrt truly preview them as if the car has primary and secondary you cant see the colors together
