I just signed in to GTA online and there was a choice for "online event". Does anybody know what that means?

I was wondering the same thing. When I launched GTA there was a choice to hit Y for Event in addition to A online.

Obviously a playlist, There might be a competition like the one they had when the Beach Bum DLC came out, Will go and check now.
