The "Pointless" Stat - Lung Capacity

So while playing GTA Online earlier today I was perked up on a rooftop sniping and it got me thinking. Does lung capacity affect the sway on your sniper while scoped in? Everyone says lung capacity is a pointless stat and at one point it actually was completely useless until they fixed it. But im wondering whether there's actually a good use for it now.

Ive only known the shooting stat change how much sway you get with the snipers from personal experiences but im not 100% sure whether lung capacity also affects the sway. Even if it doesn't change a thing I reckon it would make a good addition to the game what with there being nothing to do out at sea on this game at the minute.

speak for yourself....the sea is the best place to escape the fuzz.

Lung capacity affects your underwater longevity, not your sniping aim.

It has to do with how big of a rip you take on the in-game bong.

Nah... it's your ability to swim underwater... nothing to do with shooting.

I have max shooting and my lung capacity is half way (can't be arsed to max it) and I get no idle sway on my snipers

that would imply that sniping in GTA requires skill

but this isn't battlefield lol

There is no sway when you scope, what the hell are you talking about?

there is, but not nearly enough to make you miss a target.

....and none of that sh*t matters once you get the heavy sniper

Lung capacity is not pointless until Rockstar deigns to sell us the god-damned scuba gear. :*(

-which would be rank locked more than likely

still not pointless then lol

The cops follow me everywhere I go when I'm underwater and even with it maxed I eventually have to surface. It's not useful unless you have overhead cover or no more than 2 stars.

Nope.

Understand that there's a difference between sway and shot recoil. There is no sway when you scope. You can literally sit the marker on a players head from the furthest rendering distance and it will stay on their head as long as you hold the aim button. When you fire a shot is the only time the scope even moves just a little bit.

I want to make a capture where there's 2 teams, forced weapons: knives, Contend, the package being in a deep underwater cave where they'll have to dive into and fight in the dark underwater caves with knives to get it and then escort it to their base using submersibles. Possibly adding sharks.

i understand what sway and shot recoil are

just saying, there is a bit of sway when aiming but it's BARELY noticeable, you have to really pay attention to know it's there.

but the sway is so small that it still wouldn't knock you away from a headshot on someone just bordering draw distance

basically it's there, but it might as well not be.

Swim down a river. They shouldn't be able to keep up with you.

Yeah it's pretty pointless. Just another fail, and am beyond the point of assuming they have a purpose in mind for the future. Slowly losing hope that this game has more to offer.

One mission, or an easter egg involving deep diving. i swear these guys were all high when they created some aspects of this game.

Lol yeah so you can stay high longer than 60 seconds

Mines on about 80% and it's got me out of trouble plenty of times. I swam from shore to a nearby island not long ago under water the whole way. I discovered you can stat on 5 stars indefinitely on s mountain with your heavy sniper last night but in the end you have to find somewhere to hide.

what are you talking about? Are you an idiot? What does lung capacity have to do with shooting a sniper??!?!? This isn't a sniper video game.. it's grand theft auto, you can't "hold your breath" to steady your aim.

Lung capacity is for holding yor breath under water. When would this be useful?? Well.... I was in the water and somebody was trying to kill me.... I went under water to swim away (out of his line of sight) but had to come up for air (because my lung stat sucks) and he shot and killed me. If I had better lung capacity I wouldn't have died.

So if you're near some water... you can use it to escape.

Now, I'm not trying to make a case for lung capacity. How often are you going to use water to escape, right? But come on, sniper rifle?!? LMFAO

I think all of the current "stats" are pointless. Lame attempt at a skill progression system imo.

I have achieved full lung capacity playing Docks to Stocks and American Exports. I always land the cargobob then dive in the water to lose the 4 star wanted level. Useful as someone said above.

I've been swimming backwards and forwards across the Alamo Sea underwater to up my lung capacity. It's a bit over 60%; only another 20 minutes (real time) under water to get to 100%.

I did manage to evade the cops by diving deep enough underwater the other day; there seems to be a point below which they can't see you any more. Max lung capacity would help with this.

You look like a dumbass for posting this. First off, in real life you have two hold your breath and exhale half your air to make your aim steady on sniper even same as rifles. However, maybe R* haven't think about this yet. It's GTA anyway :p

I lol-ed at you...

There's Shooting skill for anything related to shooting so why does Sniping accuracy related to lung capacity? Should a character be able to hold his breath to increase accuracy, that would be at Shooting skill.

In terms of usefulness, it's pretty useless in online. You have no reason to dive in, even to run from cops, because you'll die even before they're done searching you.

it's useful if u want to explore underwater while accompanied with submersible ( in case if u wanna take closer look by get out of sub while deep underwater )

the wobble while scoped can be hampered in GTA IV by just crouching ( whereas in V is impossible , as player can only enter stealth mode instead despite being currently realistic GTA series ) . unless if R* add a sniper pills ( temporary calm player's nerves while scoping , increasing the accuracy )

With maxed lung capacity you can stay long enough underwater to get the cops off your back. At least long enough for the stars to 'grey out'.

It gets harder when they send boats and helicopters obviously but if you swim/hide under docks or bridges you should be OK. Out in the open you're pretty much f*cked, even if you swim deep.

Apparently the cops can spot and accurately blow your brains out from outer space.

It's very useful doing the San Chianski LTS, if you're on the team that didn't spawn on the island, it's fun to go to the ocean, go Off Radar and swim underwater undetected. Reach the island and stealth kill everyone with a knife.
