This. If a car has crew paint and you change the primary to a different crew color the secondary will change also.

When you actually joining to "#1" and set colors to car and also "#1" tire smoke and put car in garage, then join to "#2" Your colors and tire smoke on cars still be in "#1" doesnt matter what you do.

You can switch betwen crew without losing colors on your cars, you can make cool car collection by doing this

So the answer seems to be that once a car is painted in a crew colour it will stay that colour until repainted. I know it doesn't change if the crew you're in has its crew colour changed. Based on other answers here it also doesn't change if you change crews. If I recall, the same applies to things like crew tire smoke. But not to crew emblems.
