livejoker
I searched "De Santa" but found no threads relating to this but I'm sure the connection has been made already somewhere here.I've been playing Red Dead Redemption lately as I don't have Xbox LIVE Gold anymore and I can't be bothered to play Single Player in GTA V. I've played RDR tons and know it inside out but I was surprised to meet (again) a man named Vincente De Santa (shown below). My thoughts immediately went to Michael De Santa/Townley. There's no way they're related but I thought it was interesting how they used De Santa for RDR and GTA V.It's not a mind blowing fact and this will probably get locked because it's useless information but I thought I'd still share this with you.*edit*I've put in bold the above because I said it was pointless yet people still point it out to me as if I'm retarded...which I may be. Look at this lazy-eyed prick.Proof of his name: Red Dead Wiki entry on Vincente De Santa in the trivia section:He has the same last name as Michael De Santa, a protagonist of Grand Theft Auto V, another Rockstar game. They are not related however, as Michael was forced into changing his last name for the FIB.Source:http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Vincente_de_Santahttp://gta.wikia.com/Michael_De_Santa*2nd edit*From the comments below, it turns out names are reused all the time. Thanks for the feedback! I had no clue names were used more than twice. It's really nice to get informative comments, so again thank you. SingularSoul
They have the same last name. Woopty-f**king-doo. Not sure this really warrants a whole thread... Edited April 23, 2014 by SingularSoul
RodneysLeftNut
De santa is a common last name. Please delete this useless thread and sit in the corner for what you have done.
cp1dell
It means nothing. RDR and GTA's HD Universe are separate canons.
Voggs
If I remember right this was debated when Michael's full name was revealed before release, personally I think it's just coincidence... Please delete this useless thread and sit in the corner for what you have done. Really?
cp1dell
It's worth mentioning there is an actual person named Michael De Santa who is in the witness protection program.
livejoker
It means nothing. RDR and GTA's HD Universe are separate canons. Of course it means nothing. I just thought it was interesting. It's awesome when R* re-use stuff like the Stallion (which isn't in GTA V). I doubt it is but it could be a little nod to RDR. I really hate fan theories and conspiracies because they're usually too far-fetched with no evidence and this isn't a theory suggesting Vincente De Santa is Michael's great great grand-father. One thing, if I can add to my own thread which DOES make sense is about the final GTA V mission. So if you haven't completed GTA V, don't click below. After completing GTA 5's main story, as Franklin you can meet the Sasquatch Hunter in "The Last One". When you hang around him after his cutscene, he may say: "Gonna make my grand grand-daddy proud." In RDR Undead Nightmare DLC, you can meet a Sasquatch Hunter. I'll just copy & paste what RDR wiki says: Upon reaching 100% game completion for Grand Theft Auto V, a Strangers and Freaks mission will appear for Franklin, in which you have to hunt a Sasquatch. The man who gives you the mission is very similar to the sasquatch hunter from Red Dead Redemption, with him wearing the same hat, almost identical facial hair, and also has a blinded eye with a scar. The player can sometimes hear the hunter say "Gonna make my grand grand-daddy proud." Assuming that the universes of GTA V and Undead Nightmare are the same, it is possible that the Sasquatch hunter that meets John is the ancestor of the one that meets Franklin. The two characters also share the same voice actor. So that's interesting too. There's more RDR connections than we may know... http://reddead.wikia.com/wiki/Sasquatch_Hunter As said, though, it's just interesting tidbits of info. No one is related to no one and adds nothing to RDR or GTA V in any way. Edited April 23, 2014 by livejoker
Crimie
Some people need to calm down, thats all ill say...... Rockstar have used certain names more than once in different games They used the name Darius Fontaine in SA http://gta.wikia.com/Darius_Fontaine Beatrix Fontaine in GTA IV http://gta.wikia.com/Beatrix_Fontaine And this unforgettable character from LA Noir http://lanoire.wikia.com/wiki/Harlan_Fontaine They seem to associate certain names as stereotypical to types of characters perhaps. "De Santa" means "The Saint" in Spanish i think... so calling Vincente De Santa is probably a play on how "unsaintly" he actually is. Meanwhile, choosing De Santa as Michaels witness protection name... this could be a play on Michaels escape from the life of crime...Michael The Saint a thief no more.... Also notice the tattoo Trevor has in memory of Michael is symbolic of The Angel Of Death ....this archangels name was Michael aswell http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_(archangel) His name could also be a play on the decision you have to make at the end of the game too, but thats up to your own interpretation ( A , B , C ) There is alot more thought and reasoning to alot of things in this game like names etc than people might think.... In conclusion , Dan Houser and his writers are a lot deeper and genious than people give them credit for Edited April 23, 2014 by One Poor Fool livejoker
Voggs
De Santa actually means "Of the Saint", it's the same thing, but just pointing it out. De is translated as Of, and El is translated as The. Although Santa is spanish for female saint, Santo is for male. Jimmy's friend at the Burger Shot actually calls Michael "Mr. De Santo". I havent seen Herbert Moooooooooooon goddamnit in a few years I must go back and see how hes getting on lol Yeah changed my player title thing as I'm on a RDR roll at the moment. I knew who you meant, of course people won't like some topics and while I've made around 4-5 topics, most of those got locked. Not for trolling but mostly because I post the most useless crap. I like how R* are bringing old stuff back and now I'm honestly curious if they made a DMA Design "joke somewhere. DMA Design was what R* was called before they changed to R*. A Lemmings painting somewhere in GTA or something.
