Danz.
Well, I'm 18 and my beard is growing thicker everyday, like really, really thick. My mom told me that I'm going to have a "dirty/grey" face by the time I hit my mid 20s/early 30s. I've seem some men who are like that and it looks quite bad. Is there any way to prevent it from happening in order to sport a more clean and soft face? Any recommendations on how to shave my face properly? Edited April 25, 2014 by Danz. Audiophile
It depends what aftershave you are using. I don't use the alcohol based ones, at all. I keep away from those. The aftershave I listed on the previous pages uses an alcohol-free formula. Proraso pride themselves on keeping their products as natural as possible. There's no paragons, silicons, mineral oils, artificial colours. The green tea in it acts as a natural antioxidant and the oat extract is there to moisturize and not disturb the skin's pH. I've been using it and it's only done wonders for my skin rather than damaging it. I don't know. I must be different because before I switched to all of this and a double edge safety razor, I felt like shaving was a chore and no matter what I did, I always had leftover stubble and razor burn. No matter if I shaved in the shower, after a shower etc. Ever since I started shaving like this I've had better shaves, I actually enjoy shaving now and my skin feels better. Whatever works for you is best. This is what seems to work for me. I kind of envy you guys who can get a nice easy shave just with a razor and water. I don't have coarse hair or anything, I'm fairly fair haired but nonetheless I have these issues. @Danz Well read my OP or other posts to see what I have been doing. I get a really close shave with no stubble whatsoever. Or just watch this video. Aljohnk
My 1st time shaving was pain in the ass lol, I didn't use the shaving cream and it ended cutting below at my nose. That time I was scared because the bleeding won't stop for 5 minutes. Right now , sometimes I use hair conditioner which is cheaper than shaving gel. Creed Bratton
Who would want to shave on dry skin? That's just stupid. People with electric razors? Useless gadgets. That's even dumber. There isn't an electric razor in the world that doesn't irritate skin. That and alcohol based aftershave will just make your face age faster.I don't use one myself although I can see it being useful when you're pressed for time and/or not looking for a close shave. But yeah, aftershave can't be good for your skin everyday. To be honest all these creams and other products are a con anyway. If you like to shave and are happy to go all out then fair enough. But you'll save a lot of money and get the exact same shave with a simple blade and water. And you'll be acting like a real man. Useless generally means something has no use. I would have expected you of all people to know this. Arguing semantics now? I would have expected you of all people to be above that. Fuzzknuckles
I don't shave, because I am a real man. I'm just glad to hear that the fashionable (hipster) beard is on the way out, so me and all my real man buddies can get on with scaring children again. POGONOPHILES, UNITE. Any recommendations on how to shave my face properly? The closer you shave, the thicker it will grow. The only way I know of to make hair grow back less thick is to physically remove it, root and all. It will then grow back thinner. Cutting the hair itself just makes it come out with a vengeance. And, really, plucking your entire face, hair-by-hair, is the next most manly thing after just not shaving at all.
