Audiophile
How do you caveman (and women <3 Kirsty) shave? I've recently evolved into wet shaving. I am never, ever going back to anything else. Before I used to use cartridge razors and electric razors. Those didn't quite do the job for me. It was adequate, but just that. I wanted a much closer shave and to avoid the skin irritation and razor burn I would get from time to time, no matter what I did. I have sensitive skin. I decided to try out wet shaving. I bought one of these babies: Edwin Jagger DE89bl I use Derby Extra double edge blades in them. I find them to be aggressive enough but also forgiving. I do about three passes in my shave: with the grain, side to side and against the grain. Leaves me with baby smooth skin after. I've went away from canned shaving creams altogether. That stuff is nasty after I've had the real deal. I use Taylor of Old Bond Street Grapefruit shaving cream to create a nice lather with a badger hair brush. I really recommend their shaving creams and soaps. They have different "flavours" of the stuff: sandalwood, rose, coconut, lemon-lime. Highly recommend either Taylor of Old Bond Street or Proraso products. For aftershave, I use Proraso Liquid Aftershave Cream with Green Tea and Oatmeal. The menthol and eucalyptus cools your skin, there's the witch hazel, and it has glycerine in it. No matter how you are shaving, I really recommend it. The smell is also good and it's not overpowering, doesn't last too long either so I use this as an every day kind of aftershave. Look into shaving this way, guys, if you haven't already. It's made shaving fun for me and less of a chore. Discuss something as mundane as how you shave. TheGodDamnMaster
I've stopped using traditional razors with shaving cream because I hate the bare skin look. I use an electric razor to trim my hair down without getting rid of it completely. gunziness and IVIechanomics 2 Intel Core i9-9900k | Seasonic FOCUS Plus 750W | 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666MHzMSI GeForce RTX2070 | WD Blue 1TB HDD | Samsung 950 PRO M.2 512GBAntec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower | MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
Audiophile
Yeah, if I want to just trim or leave a bit of stubble, I use my electric razor. gtamann123
This reminds me I need to shave again. I usually use an electric razor when I do. Maybe go in with a standard annual razor if there is any stubble left over.

W3BB13
I use a cheap electric razor to shape out what I want (like a goatee or a chinstrap), and then I do everything else with a razor blade.

ExtremoMania
Wetting is probably the best thing to remove excess facial hair such as beard or goatee. Sometimes cream might also do the trick. It actually depends on you.
*MURDOC*
Wet! but then again, I don't think women do a lot of dry shaving. My fiancee touches up her legs dry, makes me cringe. Her hair is way finer than mine though, if I shaved my face dry, I'd likely need new blades every other day. RiaJay21
Wax. Or at least, once summer rolls around. Other than that, I wet shave. I make a point to have two 'full-on' sessions a week (shaving, moisturising, etc.) and then ... whatever else in between. Last time I dry shaved, it was in desperation and damn did it sting afterwards.

One time offer. Get it now! In the US they sell them at medicine stores too, like CVS and Walgreens, so maybe hit up those places and see if they carry any. Smith John
I don't necessarily have sensitive skin, but running a bone blade across your cheeks and neck first thing in the morning is an extremely unpleasant sensation that can only be matched with using an industrial rasp to wipe your arse. F*cking horrible. On a related note: any of you guys had a straight shave before? bash the fash m8s

Killzone3265
wet is way easier, and quicker, just splash some water on your face and you'll be done in a minute or so its also way easier to clean up after, since most of the hairs will have stuck to the razor, you could just wash em off during the whatever ive only wet shaved lol, but ive seen my dad dry shave and it looked painful

Audiophile
I should point out that when I refer to "wet shaving" I am referring to traditional shaving with a double edge razor and not wet as in wet/dry. I guess I should have clarified but I suspect not too many people put much time into shaving so it doesn't matter. What I meant was, if anyone has tried to or wanted to get into shaving with a double edge safety razor and the "real" shaving creams and soaps that you lather up with a brush. As I wrote in my OP, I highly recommend at least trying it. It takes a bit more time and effort, but if you've got it, it makes shaving a bit more fun, IMO.
