Django Fett
Can anyone find me the cheapest PC that can run the Sims 3 and it Expansions? Would you recommend this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-Quad-Core-Gaming-Desktop-PC-Computer-FX-4-2G-New-Fast-Custom-Built-System-/390603230463?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item5af1c44cff Please recommend me something that is better if that one sucks, as I suck at building PC's without my friend as he has gone abroad to europe and won't be back no time soon. Edit: I apologize as I have seem to have posted this in the wrong section if someone could please move this to technology; That would be great. El Dildo
I wouldn't use "Sims 3 + all xpacs" to judge your gaming performance. little curious factoid about Sims 3: it f*cking sucks. one of the most poorly optimized incremental expansion games ever produced. I've been playing Sims since the beginning; mostly for the design/construction aspect. the gameplay itself bores me. but one thing that most Sims players are aware of is how incredibly sloppy the expansions are integrated into the base game. each successive expansion makes the base game more and more laggy, choppy, and buggy. it literally has nothing to do with the power of your computer. for instance, you can build a computer that will absolutely cut through Skyrim or Crysis 3 or Thief like butter @ 60 frames and max quality. and this computer will still lag when running The Sims 3 after you've installed every single expansion pack. DeafMetal
The video card and RAM could be much better. The Sims 3 doesn't require much, it ran just fine on a cheapo eMachine PC I had. For the game, this PC is OK, but it's way overpriced. Edit: Actually, I only had like two expansions going with the old PC... not sure how it'd act with all of them on it. I recommend a better PC though. A video card at least around the capacity of a GTX 650, least 4 GB RAM, and a quad-core CPU. That should get you through most games on medium-ish settings. El Dildo
@ DeafMetal. you're right. Sims 3 runs just fine on most computers when it's only the base game or a couple expansions. but as soon as you install more than 5-6 of them (and if you want them all, there's almost 20 now) the game just becomes unbearable on virtually any computer. there's too much data overlapping. it's not the performance of the machine, it's the horrible coding of the game. TEoS
Yeah, every time I fire up the Sims 3, I end up getting fed up with it after about 30 minutes due to the awful performance lag. As El_Diablo said, it is a poorly optimized hunk of sh*t.
Django Fett
I like yojo's build, but I'll say forget all the expansions and just go with maybe the university, late night, and generation.
