Why would Rockstar make the cops so damn annoying?

The cops online are such pests. God forbid I even accidentally run into one, they immediately start shooting at me, and literally it escalates into 3 stars within 15 seconds.

 

You can barely engage in gun fights with people online because of how intrusive the cops are. Truth be told, I think Rockstar needs to fix this.

 

Keep cops aggressive for missions and single player, but tone them the f*ck down for free roam.

 

 

It's frustrating when you can't properly handle business against someone because the cops are annoying the f*ck out of everyone.

 

 

The cops don't seem natural at all. Rockstar needs to find a healthy balance between challenging and realistic. Right now, I get a star for bumping into a cop, and then I get in my car, a fast sports car, and the cop gets in his car and proceeds to fly behind me at intergalactic speeds and rams the back of my car. Before I know it, I'm at two stars and have a swath of coppers firing weapons at me.

 

 

I just want to be able to get revenge on people without 10 cops in my face all appearing out of no where.

While a no cop mode would be nice for some, for most it would be quite boring. Does annoy me you can now get cops on 1 v 1 though. Cops break the monotomy that is players shooting each other when they could be doing deathmatch. Benefits players that are not offensive. I like it just how it is.

Uh yeah OP. I feel you. I agree with you. But what this guy said - "Blind Eye" and "Remove Wanted Level" are what Rockstar want people to use as it brings them closer to money.

There not annoying. Pesky, perhaps. I can usually run around with 3 or 4 stars without dieing. Just use cover and snacks a lot.

The cops are ridiculous. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't send like five hundred of them every time. I gun down two and there's four more. I gun down those four then there's eight and a helicopter. Meanwhile some other player can come and start shooting me and there's nothing I can do cause I'm being swarmed by these pests. I kill them like flies but it just seems to make more of them. How many police will they just lead to the slaughter already?

To be honest, I really wouldn't mind cops that much, if it weren't for the fact that the helicopters materialize from thin air.. over.. and over.. and over...

 

If there was a countdown till they arrived, or it took a while for them to respawn.. something.. but no. The second something happens they are just there.

 

Even leaving the orbit in a Lazer is futile, because they just spawn ahead of you too, and at any height. It is absurd.

 

It is what makes Lester's "Docks to Stocks" missions so annoying, because the second you get the Cargobob & 4 Stars on ya, the never ending fleet of police choppers arrives to chase you everywhere and unleash a myriad of bullets into your Cargobob. 'Tis the same in Free Roam.

I don't usually have too many run ins with the cops and even then it's hardly ever over 2 stars and I can usually escape. I'm just glad that they actually aren't active during all the missions, that would be even worse. I do hate how they spawn in a somewhat unfair fashion while you're trying to escape the area they should be looking for you in, and the whole spend large amounts of money on really nice, really fast cars just to have the cops ramming you is also silly and really caught me off guard the other day lol also, I hate how Lester doesn't always allow you to take the cops off and it seems to be at the most inconvenient times.

Ok then...what is 'deathmatch'? Or you could find that topic about using a custom capture mode to simulate cop-free free roam. Unless your interest is unwilling, unsuspecting victims....

Both don't work... They still aimlessly stroll towards you and silenced weapons don't do sh*t haha. Lost count how many times ive been in the sticks with a suppressed weapon and when i fire it the police instantly know where I am. When they arrive you also see them do 150+mph - 0mph instantly then 0mph - 150 in a split second while bouncing in the air and also catching you up no matter what you're in if you're in a car.

 

 

Oh but what does annoy me the most is how all it takes for them to shoot you is for you to just look at them for more than 2 seconds.. Absolute pisstake haha. The police on V are barely better than IV's if not just as bad minus a few things.

I expected cops in this game to be more realistic, but instead they're more suicidial and blood thirsty than ever. Even to peds! In LC they'd at least try to arrest some, here it's always shoot. They ram into tanks, ram into planes, ram into far superior super cars and somehow push them back, use warp speed glitch hacks to ram into cars no matter the distance, choppers continuously respawn (you'd have some delay in GTA IV before the next wave), and all this coupled with crazy auto aim + more realistic shotguns (which is a nice touch though) makes cops very annoying AND unrealistic overall.

I don't have any issues with them; I thought the cops in gta iv were way too soft so I'm actually super happy with the changes.

 

In IV online:

-I would make sure I have no weapons or ammunition

-I would walk up to a cop and knock him out, pick up his gun and stand on the spot until a single cruiser showed up.

-I would than proceed to put a bullet in the head of each the driver and passenger before or after they exited said cruiser (passenger officer often wielded a shotgun.)

-I would than use the cruiser as cover or use it to drive in a circle while killing incoming officers both on foot and in vehicles; to be honest it didn't matter what I did as long as I shot them first.

-I would do this until I saw a swat van, swat van = win button

 

This process can be as short as five minutes.

 

You have won gta IV.

 

As a side activity with the swat van, I would get the entire police force following me and than t-bone other players and sling shot a dozen police cruisers into them. It sounds awful and it is, I could make people to insta-quit because its essentially the fastest pile up you have ever seen and the police will kill your victims while you drive circles around their crash kiting more cops to the scene with your swat van sirens blaring.

 

Players with rpgs weren't really an issue, because of the lcpd escort.

 

 

I have a blast taking on police in V its just awesome.

What I hate is peds changing lanes, or doing something totally new and unpredictable with their cars even though I thought I'd seen it all.

I don't have a problem with the cops difficulty at all, I don't mind getting killed by them often I like the Challenge but the way I get the stars is what's irritating.

 

Like sometimes in gta IV you could be shooting around cops and not even get a wanted star; if the cops were distracted.

It's a little annoying how they spawn right in front of you sometimes, but I feel the cops are pretty stupid. When they're chasing me through mountains, they often blow themselves up.
