Free Roam without the police, player blips, or time progression

"Free Roam without the police, player blips, or time progression is possible."

I was just messing with the content creator, when I realized something. While in a game mode, such as capture, you can set it so that time never moves forward, player blips are stealth based, (only appear when you're in the line of sight of another player, or fire your gun) and the emergency services are turned off. So my dad and I created a small based, with every gun in the game, a few objects, some vehicles, and a couple of NPCs. The time limit is set to 30 minutes, and at the end of said 30 minutes, the game ends, and you get paid anywhere from 7k-14k (based on whether you were on the loosing team/winning team) and you can simply restart the map if you want to for another 30 minutes of this mode.

Some pros:

-No police, or other emergency services. (No constant sirens wailing.)

-Time never progresses if you don't want it to.

-Player blips are stealth based. (You only appear when you're in the line of sight of another player, or when you fire your non silenced gun.)

-Vehicles you spawned to serve as team vehicles do not despawn until destroyed.

-A high density of pedestrians and vehicles, or no pedestrians and vehicles at all. (It's all your choice.)

-Some abilities like the mugger/mercenaries/airstrikes still work.

-You actually get paid for doing this.

-Whole map is open for play.

-You can build a base of operations complete with full stock of respawning weapons, vehicles, and NPCs.

-When you die, you respawn at your designated respawn points. (Can be considered a con.)

-Vehicles like jets and tanks still spawn by their self in the open world.

-You can use your personal arsenal if want be.

-Time can be unlimited if you choose it to be in the settings.

Some cons:

-You cannot use your personal vehicles. (That I know of, still going through all of the creator options.)

-Stores are closed during this mode, no Pay n' Spray/Clothes store, etc.

-Time is limited depending on the mode of play, or if you choose it to be.

-Requires at least 2 people to start the map based on mode.

-Some abilities like the Bounty ability do not work based on mode.

-When you die, you respawn at your designated respawn points.(Can be considered a pro.)

-Camera doesn't seem to be able to save pictures based on mode.

There's still more pros and cons; but I think this list is good for starters.

With this, you can create all kinds of game modes. A map wide hunger games anybody? No blips, and guns and vehicles spawned at different locations across the map? Where you all spawn at the start with the big circle, and when you die, you spawn inside of a fenced off area where you'll wait till the end of the match. There's plenty that can be done with this for sure. Just thought I'd let those of you who didn't know, know of this.

Here's a link to our test map, it's nothing special, I created it in like 5 minutes flat; but it does serve it's purpose as a display of what's possible. It was created in capture mode, both bases are in the same location. With a duffel bag out in the middle of the beach. When you want to end the game, just grab the duffel bag and bring it back to the base 15 feet away.

Edit 1: Alright, got the map updated. You spawn in "Grove Street" with a bunch of cars, guns, tanks, and a heli. There's a band of cops dug in defending the police station nearby for fun. (The impound lot.) There's snipers and even heavy weapons there. ;) They're deadly accurate.

When I read the title, I thought this was gonna be another whinge thread (thankfully it's not).

I hate the idea of disabling the Wanted Star level. It's a core feature in Grand Theft Auto (that only whimps turn off with cheats). A session without the authoritites harassing you for minor crimes just wouldn't feel right, as it has been there since the very first game.

Player blips are a pain. If I want to sneak up on a player, I don't need my position given away like free food samples. Rockstar should implement an option that hides your position (unless you have a bounty) and reveals it only when you make noise.

Time progression does not bother me at all. So I have no opinion about it.

I had that first impression too, OP should fix it because you can't change first impressions.

i like it and this is a good idea, but....

IMO, the only problem is why would people start a player created PvP mode when most people don't even want to bother with the ingame DM/TDM modes which are basicly the same thing?

Unfortunately I cannot change the title post, posting. That title is the result of a character limit that I was unaware of. I put the correct title in the start of the OP as soon as I spotted the error though.

You can name the maps whatever you want, and it would pop up as a job in everyone's phone during a free mode lobby. You could name it, "Copless Free Roam" or something to get people's attention during an open lobby, or simply stick to playing it with your friends. I intend to build up a big base where my dad and I can wreak havoc from.

that's interesting because cops have ruined the fun out of many invite only sessions that I've been in. Yes they're great to have as a challenge but sometimes they are just so annoying and unbearable. Example scenario, a bunch of people steal some jets and get together for a photo shoot or just to mess around. Then one player accidentally gets a wanted level for looking at a cop the wrong way. Then SUDDENLY cops are everywhere, gunfight erupts and everything is f*cking ruined. I've lost track of how many times I've seen this happen.

op, this is awesome.

no kidding.

ive been having....fits.. lately where i just wanna play with the police in public lobbies if i dont need money.

i get started in blain county with a friend, i started the fight and he was to take my jester ot the nearest airfield and grab us a heli before i was to die.

im at 5 stars at this point, fighting in one of the tiny towns up north on a roof, he finally comes and gets me, chaos ensues for a good 20 minutes at 5 stars, max altitude i take out the tail rotor of a helo but the gunner on the helo manages ot hit me one final time in the door of the chopper and kill me.

by the time i spawn i can actually see the heli with the cops in it slap into the ground and IMMEDIATLY after respawning i get a 3 star. maybe i didnt wanna play anymore, but it didnt matter now! time to dig in and cut the xmas ham some more!

I haaaaaate that. You die, and then respawn with a star again... It's even worse when it happens after calling Lester...

these are tears of joy, not of butthurt :)

One con you can add is that you can't invite players once the capture has started. That shouldn't be too bad if the matches are timed. And yeah, my least favorite con on the list is that you can't take pictures.

You forgot to add that you also pop up on the map when you are in a vehicle. One of the tips Rockstar gave about capture mode was to stay on foot as much as possible because being in a vehicle pops your blip up on the map.

Huh, that wasn't the case in our game. We were in vehicles a lot, but weren't showing up in each other's maps at all.

How do you turn time off? The highest I can go is 30 minutes or was it 60? point is I never seen that option before.

When you go to start the mission, there's an option to set the game to "Sudden Death." When that's active, and the two teams are at a tie atm, the game won't end until one of the two teams score. That = infinite time.

I wonder if that only works when you're close to each other? Maybe that's why you couldn't see each other on the radar, were you far away from each other?

in IV multiplayer we had the option to turn off the cops, if was fun as you could... well mess around and do your death matches without police harrasing you, a Cops On/Off option in gtao would be great.

also in IV we had blips options, with this choose if you want players blips to be On, Off, Far(blip only appear when players are far from eachother) Close(blip appear only when you get close to other player)

so yeah all that OP did in a capture, all that can be done in freeroam, R* just need to make those options available.

on the other hand we have Beat Savy's Hardcore Mode that would throw players in freeroam with no cops, no blips, no bad sport or insurance, simply mayhem!

Props to the OP for a detailed, well-explained process to give people a chance to explore without cops swarming all over them.

I seem to remember, way back in the earliest days of Online, someone pointed out that there was a Rockstar mission you could do, where you are up high on the Mile High Club building, shooting some bad guys, and then you could just leave in the middle of the mission, parachute to the ground, and you were immune to cops, and you could run all over the map for as long as you want, including Ft Zancudo, with no cops. It worked fine and I used it several times.

Lol, the thread title is cut off and it makes it seem like OP tried this game mode and its a POS.

On a serious note though, sounds like a POS. all it seems you can do is rampage against NPCs without the cops coming. If you want to battle other players without cops , they have deathmatches for that. What can you really do? Sounds boring.

Just my opinion anyway, I'm sure someone would find a use for it
