GTA Community Standalone Game

So, I was browsing a number of options, and I thought -- why not get members of the GTA Forums Modding Team, and make a standalone project in Unity?

 

Basically, Unity is a 3D Game Engine that is somewhat simple to use, and uses a WYSIWYG Editor.

The scripting languages consist of JavaScript, C#, and a proprietary scripting language called Boo.

For modeling, you can import an .OBJ, .FBX, .3DS, etc. The list goes on and on.

 

So, what do you guys think?

Creating mods is not the same thing as making a whole new game, it takes more effort to do so and you have the risk of the project closing because people get tired of it. This has happened allot of times with big full make-over mods, so this will probably happen with a community made game as well.

Unrealistic idea.

 

However making stand alone redistributable "clean" build of gta iv engine with only necessary files to build new games or ports to RAGE engine could be good idea.
