drug dealing idea

This is how you put drug dealing in the game... Everyone starts at street level. You have to hang out and wait for people to ask you for drugs. Then you can give them your # to call for more and you meet them somewhere. After maybe 1000 hand to hand transactions you get to run a stash house where other players can get their drugs from you. After so long at the stash house you become a street supplier supplying stash house. And so on and so on.... You can go so deep with this and it would make free roam the best ever

I'd like to see that. Even just the street level dealing game like in Chinatown Wars.

I'm with Zombie. IMO Drug Dealing needs to involve the NCP's more than the players, but a level of stash house (everyone will be able to stash indefinite amount of drugs in their apartment from the start (a la Chinatown)) activity held at a players apartment might be good with you setting a price to exploit a need of a player for some of your supply to sell to the ncp's. I reckon keeping the main play of drug dealing at street level is more fun and dynamic with a chance to make a quicker profit and to skirt with risk (to be a bit boring, but if you study the dynamics of big business is real life the higher up the food chain you get the more you might make at once, the more you stand to loose at once and the slower the play becomes as the risks become inhibiting meaning you don't want to play around making the game overall boring. Staying at lower levels things are physically more frantic as you prove yourself and exploit immediate opportunities and risk is lower (you loose what your carrying as opposed to an entire enterprise).

If this were to be implemented into the game it would be great but what about the effects that taking the drugs cause? or would you only be able to sell to npc and players wont be able to use the drugs?

That's why I started the topic. Hopefully they see this. So continue to brainstorm on ideas on how it should work

So you want to be a sh*tty drug dealer now?

Go on your PC and play Dope Wars

It would almost require a PvE lobby. Hard to sling dope dead on the hood of an Adder or getting held up by tanks.

coelacanth72

That'd be great! They could even start with the old drug dealing architecture from GTAIV, where it's pretty much a mini-mission, but then you could start investing in your own supply to make more, then on mission you'd show up on the radar so other players could jack ya, awesome.

I'd agree to a combination of coelacanth72 and jinx77 suggestions but would more prefer a contrast to coel's idea. PvE would be critical as an enterprise as a whole as the ncp's would act as core clientèle to buy from and sell to and create a supply, especially when you get killed and busted. As for being killed by players there shouldn't be any indicators, just the knowledge that all carried supplies will be lost if stolen and that all players could be carrying (the risk is you cannot bank drugs while on foot, but have an option to do so when in a pv). The map of dealers and special offers should operate similar to chinatown.

I think instead of always robbing drug deals, Gerald should send you to sell the drugs you steal.

Too bad GTA isn't a drug dealing game, huh?

Yeah, let's all strive to be a loser-ass drug dealer

Well...

Lets see here, GTA is about crime, and drug dealing is a crime...

Chinatown Wars had drug dealing... It was awesome...

Well, I'd rather be a loser- ass drug dealer making money than the dumbass prick you are.

It may have been good to implement at the start or if another city opens up, typical low level Gerald missions. To put it in now would be weird. No way my two high level characters are gonna be slinging dime bags on the corner. This could bring in a new Mission Contact though, some kingpin you'll be muscle for until you work your way through the hierarchy and achieve higher ranks and better missions.

Another angle: NPC dealers holding a few grand randomly spawn on the streets that you can rob either by intimidation or murder. It could work in a similar way to crate drops and armored trucks but more frequent. Instead of the whole lobby getting a notice and having a map icon they could be based on proximity like Strangers and Freaks with the same little map marker. It's not an ongoing mode of employment for your character but it brings in another way to make money and adds some dynamic realism to the map.
