BrokenLizard
For story mode, I somewhat like the ambient background music being played, as it fits certain missions. It added to the "feel" of the situation. But recently, I've been very annoyed by it while playing online. I'd like to be stealthy and wait to hear someone walk by, but the music drowns it out. First, what are your thoughts? Second, should we be able to disable it?
Voggs
I love that score, but I thought they would put music off-mission too, like in RDR. If you need to be stealthy in Online just put the music volume low on the Pause Menu... that will "disable" the radio too though. Everyone should do themselves a favor and turn down the radio. How many times can one hear the same songs and commercials and stretched-too-thin-this-time humorous DJs? It's not all bad, no, but I just got tired of it months ago, so now I play GTAV / GTYAS0 in blissful musical silence.
NikosUncle
so what music plays when youre trying to be stealthy online? Its pretty much only plays during cops, flying aircraft and missions doesnt?

I believe Rockstar said in an earlier newswire post that they are making ambient music specifically for online, so expect it to appear in more situations than these pretty soon. Acehilm
I've noticed that V has perhaps 'copied' some aspects from the Driver series. Take Driv3r for example. It has the ambient background music whilst crusin' around the city and when you pack some heat, the music changes and the feel incenses. Not only did they take that aspect of the game, but also the HUD radar and how the police are portrayed on the radar when searching; having a beam to look for the suspect. That was kind of off-topic but the music doesn't bother me. It creates scenery, moves the player, provides a soundtrack and overall is put together quite well. Dynamic Score in video games has been around for a long time, Rockstar did not copy anything in particular.

I wish they would fix the musical score for Single Player. Then again, it's been a while since I last played, but there are a lot of parts in the game where the score is way too quiet. It's like it wasn't balanced right. It's a bit easier to hear with headphones, but still.
Ben73
I don't mind it. All I do online is muck around so it doesn't affect me on there. I was hesitant about the music when I heard about it, but I have to say it works pretty well.
BrokenLizard
I just flat out don't like it, it gives a dark feel to the overall game. The creepy music playing seems like it should be in a Michael Myers video game. Hate it.
ViceCityStalker
I also didn`t mind it at first but after playing the game for some time it flipping irritated the sh*t out of me it needs to have an off switch just as badly as the kill flash needs one. Alex Wesker
In what way is the ambient score "creepy"? Are you sure you didn't accidentally click on a creepy song on YT in the background?
Choco Taco
They should have an option to turn it off. I f*cking hate the music that plays when you're flying. It's depressing. Tacymist
Niobium
this music is the most intense http://youtu.be/pvQkom7zVkc?t=18m56s but i agree that there should have been an option to turn it off. Edited April 18, 2014 by nobum62
ViceCityStalker
IMO this type of thing boils down to rockstar slacking in the most important aspect of GTA that was in a way lacking in GTA V.FREEDOM.GTA in a base sense is supposed to be open world/open freedom letting you choose to do what you want to do when you want to do it and not be shackled or stopped from doing anything you choose to do when you want to.This open thinking should IMO translate completely into the game mechanics I.E letting all of said game mechanics have a f*cking on and off button it really isn`t that hard to do. Yeah, I don't like how they limit your freedom in some areas in this game such as not allowing you to shoot Ron or Michael's family. Plus, they should allow you to play missions with cheats. Just let us do what we want. ViceCityStalker

Piggsy pls
The ambient music is far better than those annoying radio stations. I never listen to them, not just in this game but in all GTA games.

First, what are your thoughts? Second, should we be able to disable it? GTA V should include an option to turn off the ambient score. I was sad to see you couldn't turn off the cinematic score, as we could in Red Dead Redemption. You also can't turn off the 'Kill effect"(the screen flash that happens for every kill you make with a gun) like you can in Red Dead. GTAV would be a better game if it had the options to turn this crap off. Choco Taco
