Splitting lobbies is not booting. Bootin/stressing is DDoS. DDoS is very much punishable by pound-you-in-the-ass time.

However, are you sure lagging someone out/ kicking someone out a lobby is considered an attack ? I’m genuinely asking since you see and hear about this stuff all the time, and if it’s indeed considered an attack I can only wonder why it’s not pursued more aggressively.

Oh, it's absolutely a attack. It's denying someone of a service they paid for.

Why don't we hear more about it? I really can't answer that, maybe because the media is too concerned with what Trump had for lunch or his latest tweet.

I don't know it's some kind of mental anomaly or something. Like "I want people to hate me, I want you to remember me, I want you to let me know about it, I like it when people hate me" sounds like some kind of insecurity or something Idk.

Reactions like the ones in this topic and like the ones in my messages are the reason me and my friends take over and grief lobbies

I'd hate tryhards too if I got bodied 24/7 aswell, but tbf most of my friends are griefers aswell ad will even join my lobbies to help me grief

 

I'm guessing my posts must be bringing back some bad memories judging by the hate for griefers and tryhards lol

Join a random doing a casino job. He launches it before I have a chance to back out (I wanted to host), then spends 5 minutes idly shooting at me. Multiple in game texts from him and his friend asking me to leave, so I suicide 3x and bounce. Back to freeroam, his friend tries griefing me and doesn't know how to counter the Marksman Dance, and the host texts me about how trash I am and blah blah...then sends this.

Someone in this thread just got lucky and won a weeks free vacation, no expenses paid.  Just in case you were wondering why you may not get a reply, I think you may know who, if you were to quote them... but really don't bother quoting, just chat amongst yourselves.

A while back, on one sunny afternoon in the skies, I decided that there was only room for my jet in the air.

So, Mr-I-Can't-Remember-Your-Name was promptly cannoned.

 

He sent me a message along the lines of:

 

"Hey buddy, you win. Me and my friend just want to do some stunts and flying formations, if that's cool"

 

Completely didn't expect that.

I ended up asking if I could join them and spent the next hour or so doing just that.

The guy I killed was super nice. Think he was going all in on the RP angle ("Come on pilot, keep that left flank tight! Follow my loop" etc) which I quite enjoyed.

 

If you're out there and reading this, throw me a FR buddy. My PSN is the same as my name here.

 

Those rare friendly moments really are the ones that stick out. When they occur, it's great.

So much of the community is built on salt, griefing, etc (which I freely admit I've been party to), so sometimes I forget there's a whole bunch of lovely people out there doing their own thing. When I dip my toes into it, it sometimes makes me want to quit tryharding full stop.

Kicking someone from a session is legal. It's not nice but it's legal at least in the US. Here's why: In a peer to peer session all players must maintain contact with all other players. If they don't they lag out and drop from the session. A modder can force this by blocking a player's IP address from communicating with his system. This is what firewalls do. If the modder persistently blocks that player then he can't rejoin. But is still online and can join any other session. 

What the IP stressor feature does is different and illegal. It launches a DDOS attack against that player's router (through it's public IP address) and floods it withgarbage traffic to the point it can't respond to legitimate traffic. That router belongs to the ISP, which in the US is considered a public utility. It is a state felony in every state to launch a DDOS attack (or even just a DOS attack from one location) against a public utility. It is also a federal felony as well. And if the modder is part of a crew doing this then the organized crime provision kicks in and the fines and sentences double. It's also a federal felony in at least the UK, EU, and Australia. In the UK, the GCHQ, the UK equivalent of the NSA, has absolute zero tolerance of people launching DDOS attacks. They don't care if you're a little stupid kid doing this. Then they go after the parents. There was a case is Australia last year or so where the court even let Rockstar go through the modder's stuff.

There's a recent case of a modding crew for another game that were stupid enough to advertise their services. They would message players in game to go to their website and click on a link to submit a gamertag to be booted offline and for how long. One of the modders is currently serving 27 months in prison and got a huge fine. Doubled due to him being considered part of organized crime.

 

But back OT. I usually talk in session and both my characters are female. Even though I'm obviously a guy, A couple f days ago I got a XBox Live message just after I shutdown: "WTF? You're a guy?"

So I was on the pause menu, looking through my awards. Then I get rudely interrupted (and I mean very rudely) by a broomstick boy who hilariously fails to shoot me out of the Paragon R Armored at close range. He thought he could nick a cheap and easy kill on someone who's clearly doing something on the pause menu.

 

I hit him off with the Atomizer, then kill him several more times after that.

 

 

He then comes up with the "I was drunk" excuse.

 

 

Then he starts sending me weird, incoherent messages to give the impression that he is, in fact, drunk. I could tell he was bullsh*tting. What a loser.
