Significant decrease in players lately?

Titanfall.....

This, at least on Xbox. I haven't played gta online since I got titanfall, and I won't go back until we get heists or if the high life dlc turns out to be good.

its because the game has become stale. the little updates rockstar brings isnt enough to keep players interested. just more re-skins of in game items without dealing with the real issues. black pants still have green splotches all over them, passive mode gets you killed, weird camera angle issues that get you killed, the psycho/psychic cops that appear out of nowhere, the buggy wanted system that gives you wanted levels because someone is shooting at you, the game despawning all traffic forcing you to walk across the city, all the little kids voting to kick every player online because they are trying to glitch cars/money in public lobbies, players hacking the game or hiding under the map, getting stuck in the clouds until the game kicks you offline, lobbies being completely emptied all at once, the game hard freezing and damaging your system, being told heists coming soon for months when it was promised as playable on day one and the complete lack of a story or any feeling of progress being made is killing this game.

 

i guess i cant blame rockstar for this but im tired of the players constantly yelling over the headset all the you momma, my dick and nigga this, nigga that. usually between a grade school kid and high school dropout.

i think that's due more to the errors and freezes.

 

That is what I suspect as well. So far I've experienced few freezes, but I definitely can imagine the frustration of having them on a regular basis. I'd probably stop playing as well untill they were fixed.

The reason you can't find any full servers is either due to one of two reasons.

 

1) You connection has a type 3 NAT which will keep you from finding full sessions.

 

2) The servers are acting up.

 

If this keep happening for days on end then it's probably your connection and you should look into making changes in your routers settings.

 

This might be the case as I recently got a new modem AND a better connection, but occassionally I do join a full lobby. What should I look at (and possibly change) in my router settings?

I haven't played in over a week... sort of sad. It's the only game I play... towards the end there (I use the word end loosely) I was just going online, stealing/selling a car, rob a couple stores and hope to come across an armored truck.

 

It's just a phase... I'll be back... maybe even tonight if I don't choose sleep over it.

I've been having this problem for a while actually, but I logged on today (for the first time in a while) and it seems to be better and worse at the same time. I joined a few lobbies that were almost (or completely) full a few times in a row and managed to play for quite a long time without issues. However eventually I had the problem when it tells me that everyone's left the session and I'm left on my own. As well as this everything seems less smooth after the update. NPC cars are really glitchy now so are the NPC's themselves.

 

In a way it's kind of got better because for quiet a while I've never been able to get in a full session, but now I can. But... there are times when I get thrown into empty servers. It's become more like 2 extremes now. I either get into a sh*t lobby, or a great one.

Actually, I've started hitting the open lobbies lately and they seem pretty dead. I was surprised, they're usually full of tanks, jets, screaming kids, etc. I thought it was spring break, shouldn't it be brimming over with screaming kids?

It seems like it but I guess rockstar's broken lobbies are responsible for that aswell. I join a game, 5 mins later everyone leaves.

Did you enter a lobby and fart for that to happen? hahaha

I wouldn't say I'm bored, but I have not logged on in a while. The day 1.12 dropped, I logged in and played for a while. Two freezes later, I gave up. I'll try again after the next update. Once we can get a second garage, I'll have some motivation to at least go invite only and play with cars for a while.

It's the same on Playstation, and we don't have Titanfall.

 

My guess is people finally got tried of Rockstar's BS for not fixing the game flaws and have gone to better games. Maybe the sooner this one dies the better. Although I don't think I'll be buying anything from Rockstar.

I think I know now what caused this. Probably not my modem/router, but the fact that lately I used to log into online from single player mode. When I go straight to online during loading I do join a full server. So it's possbly yet another bug...

All the times I've played lately I had full lobbies, and I don't think the population has dropped much lately so much as it dropped off months ago and has been steadily lower ever since. It was so huge before that even with so many fewer people playing now there is still a sizeable population, but a lot of people are off playing other games while they wait for more content, some who left may not bother coming back but I'm sure a number will once the next few updates start rolling out.

 

I know I haven't played much lately but just the knowledge that the updates are coming has me playing again to save up money, I'm at 1.6 million now and I plan on having at least a few million more by the time the High Life update comes out (I have two characters with new apartments to buy and garages to fill, it won't be cheap). Plus heists will be all well and good but if they work anything like SP then you'll need to spend money preparing in order to make more money in the heist, in which case it would be helpful to have some already before the heists come out.

I keep about 30 online friends and have noticed recently most are not playing Gta. Many are logged in but doing other things or playing other games. Need something more than a new car. At least some missions if we can't get heists.

Giving your PS3 a static IP address helps alot with online gaming. It also helps to either port forward your PS3 or simply place it into the DMZ on your router. Both will give you the same effect. Obviously you'll need to do a bit of research as anyone else would but it is well worth it.
