Drifting Thread

Could someone give me a few tips and pointers to drifting the Sentinel XS, I've been practicing with it but I cant seem to keep the traction from grabbing the road half way through the drift causing me to shoot forward instead of follow through the turn. Or maby I just suck at drifting with the Sentinel XS lol

try doing the lowering glitch on the car,

drop it 2x

Explain?

The lowering glitch is when you shoot the center of the rims and it will technically damage the shocks and lower the car. some cars ignite when doing this and there are tricks to getting passed it. most cars, all you need to do is shoot the center of the rims. Try using the AP Pistol Silenced

when you do this, the car has a lower center of gravity and becomes a tad stiffer, making it easier to drift, many people used to do this in GTA IV with the dukes

There ain't no such thing as drifting in this game.. And oh I have tried.. The Futo is the only one that gets close to drifting by playing with the handbrake, keeping the rpm up, and tapping the brake, but even that usually only works when it's raining. If you shoot out all four tires of the cars tho, THAT is alot of fun

Reminds me of MCLA. Everyone said that you couldn't drift in that game, but you could.

Just like in that game, it didn't look or feel anything like drifting.. At least, that's what I thought. Try drifting in Forza or Gran Turismo, I actually have drifted in real life and both of these games don't do it justice, this is why I hope they come out with a "drift pack" or drift setting for us drifters. I guess they'll eventually won't because we don't nag as much and loud as most of the other kids demanding sh*t for this game, such a shame

Well, this looks like drifting to me.

Like I said, the Futo comes close to it, but it's practically impossible because it shifts up at the wrong times and you mostly only get wheel spin in the first gear which sucks. It becomes more like sliding than drifting.

Isn't drifting basically a controlled slide?

Yes, a CONTROLLED slide yes.

Again, like I said before, it's just sliding.

You should take a fully upgraded Futo/Banshee to the Del Perro pier, it might change you mind. It's the only place I feel like I'm actually drifting. The wood decking there has just the right amount of traction. The only downside is the limited space but you can make some half decent tracks in the CC. Here's one I came up with Slidin Sidways. The parking lot it most empty in the morning.

Ah, I understand the concept of lowering vehicles. I am a mechanic/racer. I was just wondering about the glitch itself. Too bad it's not permanent until the suspension is altered again via mod shop. Thanks bro, found a vid on it. Happy drifting everyone. Remember, the game will auto correct the steering a bit so watch your counter steering. Easy to over cook.

You sure? Because it feels like the futo slides better without any suspension upgrades.

no no, the lowering glitch, not buying suspension mods at LSC

The schwartzer(slammed) should be in the advanced section. Any rookie that jumps in my schwartzer smashes it almost instantly.

Easy to spin the wheels? Hell yeah. Easy to hold a drift? Hell no.

Schwartzer teaches how to control the angle, how to understand consistent drift lines unlike the futo.

If you master the Futo and the Schwartzer then hit the Fusilade, not many people know but the Fusilade is the best drift car when you slam it. It's just ugly IMO

I like drifting in my Ruiner. Such a beast on corners. Takes time getting used to its handling, however.

aye ^^ drifting is what you want to do AFTER your powerslide.

you powerslide sideways to set up your drift, get the wheels pointing right (relative to your car) on a LEFT handed drift, then I personally downshift and get those tires spinning and accelerate out of the turn.

A car is drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, to such an extent that often the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right or vice versa, also known as opposite lock).

for all you guys who have been looking for a tutorial, the GTAWiseGuy has finally uploaded a tutorial vid on drifting! I had mentioned his vid earlier for how to downshift, but this one focuses on a few techniques that will get you DRIFTING around and LINKING turns!!

while the techniques are somewhat basic compared to the other stuff he has shown, it is very thorough and will definitely help you guys start to drift!

now personally, im still a huge fan of the Banshee, which is basically like taking the futo and doing everything that it can, only better. you can downshift easier, drift better from a higher gear, and obvioiusly accelerate much faster... what do you guys prefer?? i havent tried the slammed schwartzer yet, but im gonna try it tonight.

Didn't you forget about the Intruder?

You can hardly drift in that car, so I didn't list it.

UPDATE:

The Surano is a fun car to drift if you want to try something different, a bit tricky like the banshee, lower it 1x and I suggest drifting it in the rain, makes it less twitchy

UPDATE 2:

The Tailgater and the Cognoscenti Cabrio is something different to try. Not the greatest, but for short drifts it's decent. For best experience, Lower each car 2x using the lowering glitch and use them in the rain.

The picador is great for drifting once you lower the back end 2x. The 4WD helps keep it controlled.

If i can drift in a patty wagon, im pretty sure anything is drift-able.

Also i just got a Hexer and i can take extremely sharp turns at high speeds with it even more so then my super cars.

I'll have to try it your way, I've only done it with all 4 wheels dropped, nice little 4WD drift car.

Also everyone I found a cool little parking lot in downtown, just north of Simeon's Dealership, entrance is under the ramp. I got excited when I thought I saw a parking garage to my right, sadly it was gated off. I think I'll never find another parking garage

Patty Wagon?
