Interesting New Cop Respawn Habits?

Anyone else notice that the cops seem to respawn faster and closer to your proximity lately (maybe since last patch)?

I've driven over everything to get to an LSC to lose my wanted level, only to find cops waiting there for me.
I've flown to the tops of buildings and hid behind ventilation shafts only to hear, "there he is!"

For a game so immersive in detail, this is one area they got completely wrong. No cop in no city has ever been THIS good at finding suspects.

In fact, tonight, I was parked on the roof atop the local LSC shop, waiting for a toolbag who'd been hunting me for a bounty to come get me. I wasn't up there a full minute before - out of nowhere - a cruiser appears next to me.

I could. not. believe it! Luckily, I shot both cops and pushed their car over the edge. Admittedly, it was fun.

oh, and the toolbag came and claimed the bounty when I respawned after accidentally falling off the roof and dying. ugh.

The cops in this game are bullsh*t - we all know it. Will they ever fix it? Doubtful. This will be my only "f*ck R*" rant....

No change. The cops are always Terminatoresque and know exactly where you're hiding even if you've driven 7 miles, traded your Entity for a hobo's coat and disguised yourself as a homeless vagrant digging through the trash for scraps under a bridge.

I can only agree. But I suppose the bigger question regarding "fixing it" would be "why not?"

In every other GTA game, the cops reaction time was believable and the characters themselves had a cartoonish appeal, though could be deadly if you pushed it.

They arrested you and you did time in jail and lost money/weapons.

Now, like you said, "we all know" what happens on a 1-star wanted level: you get killed.

It's ludicrous and hopefully they will address it. Someday. Maybe. or not. ugh.

I can live with their small margin of reaction or trigger time that sets them off after you, or even how easily they are able to take you out after 3+ stars when you are surrounded, but they really need to fix the duration those stars linger around for and also the ease at which they can find you no matter where you are hiding, in day light its almost impossible to hide from them unless you get to your garage or an LS customs in time.

Better call Rosenthal! Not sure if that old trick would work. When Tommy Vercetti was busted his lawyer kept him out of hard time for a nominal fee. Maybe we need lawyers?

Edit: Rosenberg? Rosen-jewish nonetheless.

Pretty sure it's a bug, and an annoying one. This has been happening to me quite a lot after the last update.

Killzone3265

its kind of not a bug if you spawn with a 3-star wanted level, that happens when you shoot a cop to where he's lying on the ground ABOUT to die, and dies during your respawn

I am so happy they tweaked them :p They are finally more of a challenge; still easily to escape tho. Also the police seems way more aggressive; Like that a lot.

They shoot from cars, close of whole blocks from all sides; so you are surrounded. And there are also more SWAT busses (I won't use buses [email protected] teacher :p).

I really like what they did by tweaking the cops.

I like a challenge and when I got my first 2 helicopter chase with only 3 stars I first thought: Well that escalated quickly. But I actually like the more diverse approach now.

Finally the cops are way harder and they use diverse approach tactics. FINALLY! :D

I will pwn you newbs

I've literally been out of the cops sight for several real life minutes with only one star and I still don't lose it. I seriously think there's a rule that those physic f*cks have to find you at least once after getting out of their sight before you can actually lose them. That sh*t is so annoying

I find that you lose stars a lot faster if you change cars when you're out of their sight, then let them pass you unnoticed. It only seems to work randomly though, unless there's an element I'm missing.

Not entirely true. Changing clothes, or using a mask to commit a crime then later removing it, will cause a decrease in wanted level. You have to do it out of sight though.

I love hiding from cops because they'll say "they just disappeared!" or in Blaine County "dammit dammit dammit"

But still, cops seem the same since 1.11

I'm with OP on this one.

Just last night I was playin with my wife and mentioned to her how the cops seemed more intense.

I only had a 1 star wanted level but had the choppers and some. I even tested it by letting them kill me and gettin a wanted level again just in case another player close by was affecting how the cops spawned but it kept happening.

I have a feeling they have hotfixed them very slightly. Either that or its just another side effect of the last patch, of which there have been many.

Fixed.

Also I don't know if it's just me but when you have a wanted level there always seems to be far to many cops around the same area. For example I'll go down a street and find about 8 cop cars waiting for me.

Use alleyways and car parks also the quick getaway method isn't as successful as previous games this time you have to hide in various spots and not in the same spot for too long. They aren't hard just different IMO.

still think the cops just need cheap perks to overcompensate for being sh*tty AI

Full blown helicopter/cruiser/swat barrage in milliseconds for robbing a Noose truck of a few grand is utter bullsh*t.

It's not even worth it 90% of the time with loss of ammo, health and vehicle damage. Lately I say "screw it" and ignore Noose trucks.

The simplest thing can trigger a wanted star and I'll be damned to pay 5 grand for 3 minutes of freedom.

I bet this has a lot to do with the police swarm(s) as of late.

Thanks R*

I've noticed the cops have become a lot more aggressive as of late as well. As if they weren't annoying enough as is; it's pretty lame. One second there are none anywhere. Something as small as walking past and just looking at an NPC the wrong way (an exaggeration, I know) or even shooting a silenced weapon out in the middle of nowhere gets you one star. Hit the Armored Car, instant helicopter. Next thing you know, they're everywhere. Try and run, they appear right in front of you. Squad cars have the mysterious ability to catch up to you even if you're driving a fully modded super car. Cops in the helis and standing on the side of the road have unparalleled accuracy and can hit you dead on while driving at full speed. When you do get out of their sight, it takes 5 years to shake them. You think you've found the perfect hiding spot, and somehow they find their way directly back there to exactly where you are, right as you were about to lose them.

I think the cops and the unrealistic way they come after you in this game annoys me even more that then griefers, trolls, hackers and the tanks.

They're exactly the same. People are just experiencing a placebo effect here. Still just as easy to get away from as before. :^:

Inb4 they make cops harder so you'll spend more money on paying Lester to make the cops turn a blind eye which in return will make you buy cash card haaaa
