why is it that people are compelled to cheat, glitch, and hack this game's online portion in particular so much?

i mean i play all kinds of online games (on pc, to be expected to be hacked) but why hack this game on a ps3/xbox 360?

if i'm mistaken if you get bored playing one game just play another one right?

but like i said just curious "why" people do it

Everyone blames cash cards which I strongly disagree.

Because this game is not on PC, at least for the time being. Some or most people do not want to wait for a PC version to be able to play with their mods and such. I'd guess that modding on consoles is much easier for them and a cash saver, at least for some, rather then just upgrading their PC parts to be able to run GTA V and spend money on that end.

People are compelled to money glitch because the payouts on everything are garbage and the cost of living is too high. also these people refuse to spend money on cash cards for multiple reasons.
For vehicles- upgrading them costs too much compared to mission payouts, so why not do 1-2 glitches (depends on whether its high end or not) to get the car online for free
Also some vehicles are SP only (ex Dubsta 2 & Franklins Buffalo) and people want these cars. so the only way to get them are to SP-MP or dupe them

Well majority of players who use glitches don't have the knowledge to hack. They only know how to use Youtube, and those are the lazy players in the community not willing to gain cash the way it was intended.

People claim it's because they don't have "hours" to spend grinding they'd rather have the money or what they want now so they can enjoy the game at least that's always the excuse i hear...

Because it takes ridiculously long time to unlock/afford cool things in a legit manner. It took me in excess 150hrs of 'normal' (e.g. no glitching with little farming, mostly playing races/missions) gameplay on 1st character to fill up a relatively modest garage (only 2 sports, 1 sports classic, and 1 super, with rest grabbed off the street) and get a tank/buzzard. And that is with buying $40 worth of shark cards. Most people will never play any game this much. This is why on the 2nd character, I've used SP>MP and pearlescent glitches on many vehicles, and you know what, I've had more fun and discovered more cool/fun rides this way.

 

As far as glitches that break gameplay and/or harass other players, I am fully against those.

its fun to do what you want but not necessarily intended by the developer. Cheating on consoles has been around since forever. Just a lot more involved now but still as fun.

This is the best response and the answer to OP question.

 

It's the fact that they think they make others jealous. In the end, THAT is why they do it. They brag about their money or the cars that they have or for some f*ckin' reason, a license plate.

They literally think people will look up to them and think they're cool. They'll even post on here about how people in a recent session they were in were all like, "WOW, where did you get that car. It's amazing".

You'll hear them on their mics trying to brag to people in the session.

 

It's really rather pathetic as anyone with an internet connection can do everything that they can do, obtain any car that they can, make as much money as them. They are literally not special.

BUT.....they think they are. And their parents said that's what matters most (and that dinner's ready).
