It's that way because R* decided to make it that way, with tattoos and weapon tints and platinum awards for each weapon for killing other players. And there are none (or very few) rewards for working together or for making friends. I'm not gonna lie, I watch the dots on radar and if you don't give me some space I'm gonna take a shot at you. Is it wrong? I dunno, it's just how I figured out the game was from the start. Not to say I haven't made any friends playing, but I find you make friends playing missions, not in freeroam

I think its got more to do with the game because it has so many unlockables linked to PvP like gun camo and stuff and some players think of their K/D ratio as a trophy for some stupid f*cking reason. Maybe their wouldn't be so much PvP If gun camos unlocked from killing police instead of players and if R* removed those stupid K/D ratios. Another thing that could reduce PvP in-game would be if R* brought back colored blips from GTA 4 and posses from Red Dead Redemption. Maybe they could also give the players options to choose between normal free mode, friendly free mode (No PvP) and hardcore free mode (No auto-aim) Like what was in Red Dead Redemption.

Any game that has PVP immediately becomes about nothing but PVP. It's a sad state of affairs but it's not going to change.

This is true. Rockstar's negligent and unthoughtful design of GTA0 has turned into the death spiral known as free-roam. I mind my own business, and sometimes forget that I drop in to free-roam every time I swap characters. So typically I'm leaving LSC and heading out to do a gang attack or something, and some asshole comes out of the blue and kills me. That's GTA0. :angry:

 

However, in the midst of the idiocy, there is a positive dynamic that I often see -- it's really nice -- when i meet a few people who don't kill me, and we drive around and have some fun, until sure enough one or more assholes attack us, and then I have a blast teaming with my new temporary friends, trying to hold our own against the assholes.

 

Unfortunately, again due to Rockstar's incredibly sh*tty design of GTA0, there is no way to mark the blips of my new temporary friends so that I can tell where they are, and no way to set Friendly Fire so that i don't target them in the chaos of trying to take out the assholes. What a disaster. :sui:

 

That's when I don't get booted offline or freeze just as things get hot and heavy. :bored:

Believe it or not, the friendliest way to approach someone in freeroam is in a TANK honking & not shooting. But whatever. After having taken a couple days off from GTAO as well as the forum, 1 thing became quite clear.

Maybe if they give better bonuses for helping out people in your lobby or so

Well, when you spawn into freeroam and you see the kill-feed popping up and nobody in the lobby has JP, Ya know some sh*t going down.

You could choose to stay or find another session. Its totally random. Sometimes you meet friendlies sometimes you don't.

I've noticed when it gets really late (early am est time here) Things seem to settle down. :yawn:

in my eyes this game have always been about killing, robbin and causing mayhem, it never been about been good with other random people.

Frankly, the problem isn't cops, it's the utter lack of sh*t to do besides shoot other people. Their structured play ((Missions,Survivals,Etc)) take forever to load up, and has about a 20 percent chance of either freezing or kicking you back to single player. Had they not spent all that effort into trying to develop ((Missions, Survival,Etc)) and spent that time on polishing freeroam to hell and back, then maybe the game wouldn't be in the sad shape it's in.

 

Learn this lesson well boys and girls, no matter how much money you have, how many people you employ, and how much effort you put in creating new content, you will never be able to generate enough content to keep a ravenous playerbase entertained between updates. They should have either centered the game on giving us a bunch of neat set pieces with which to experiment, or made more than a half assed effort at designing a player driven content creation system.

 

I'm not killing people because I'm blood thirsty, I'm killing them because I'm f*cking bored and If I really had better things to do with my time I wouldn't be playing GTAO in the first place.

 

Besides, it doesn't take long to realize most things in this game are designed to keep you running on the wheel as long as possible in the hopes that eventually you'll cough up some cash to "Improve your playing experience"

hopefully this will get better when metal stats come out, maybe that can have a special lobby for people who have a good mental stat.
