Midnightz Posted April 13, 2014 Share Posted April 13, 2014 In terms of actual interaction: Pedestrian phrases are repeated by different (in appearance) pedestrians in the same voices. All I hear are the same 5-10 voices anywhere in the map. Each voice has only a few phrases too. For example, I was wandering the beach goers in Vespucci and I heard the same 3 phrases about 27 times by 10 different looking peds. In GTASA, this wasn't the case. Each pedestrian was assigned a voice and table of responses. If duplicates were used, it wasn't obvious at all. And the number of responses were so many that I rarely heard the same phrases. My feeling is: If you're going to use the same voice and thus phrases for 2 different peds. Make sure each ped can be found in a completely different location and that it matches the appearance of the ped. Too often, I hear a man's voice from a female ped or vice-versa. I have more problems with the fact that people die faster when you hit them in their own vehicle. In Grand Theft Auto IV, this isn't the case. Nor does IV have any memorable ped talk. No one cares about ped talk, would you talk to them on your screen while playing? I think R* created a single database of voices and phrases and just randomly assigns these to peds within X radius, based on a flag system. That must be why different peds have the same voice and phrases in your immediate surroundings. Whereas, in SA, each ped was assigned a unique voice and the phrases that went with it.
