Collywong
Ok if the parents aren't going to stop their kids playing the game I feel like it is my mission to make it as unenjoyable for them as possible. Leave your chat setting to "everyone" and as soon as you hear one of those little squeakers, tag them and go after them with everything you have got. It may seem cruel, but to paraphrase: "spare the combat shotgun, and you spoil the child" Saiyanskillz, Grumpy-Goat-, Adeel007 and 10 others

Cudwieser
I dunno, can you honestly sit there and say that you're not even A LITTLE aroused by a child's laughter? Mr Mean Swag
It depends... If the kid is with others and they are having fun, not being blatant assholes, then I don't really care. I had good memories playing san andreas when I was younger and thats one of the reasons I really love the GTA series. If the kids are enjoying the game respectful to others, why ruin it? On the other side, if the kids are intentionally being dicks, sure, I can't say I haven't tracked them down... and well.. destroyed their little smiles and laughter with explosives. warrenwoodhouse, Arrows to Athens and blues_clues1234

livejoker
This is my kind of thread. A thing about gaming that's always annoyed me is how the ESRB rating is completely ignored by parents. Truth be told, I played GTA 3 when I was like 9 and one of my favorite franchise as a kid was Mortal Kombat but I wasn't an idiot. I knew videogames weren't real. These kids though take things seriously. You kill them in the game and they're like, "Imma fooking rape your mum, fook you, I own you. My cock is so big I deepthroat giraffes, you got a mini sausage like the ones wrapped up in dough like a mini hotdog". Calm down, I just virtually killed you, I didn't insult you personally. I always had this philosophy for as long as I can remember: If I have kids one day (so I'll need to talk to a girl at some point), I'll pretend I don't want them to play some games but I'll leave them out in the open. I'll let my kids discover fatalities, run people over, virtual tits, you name it. I'm a gamer and it's a "perk" for being a gamer dad; you know what games are good. I'd rather have my kids play a tasteful game like GTA than CoD and be one of those type of players. If kids on GTA want to play, let them play. You're just ruining gaming for them. Gaming isn't a privilege, it's a hobby for some, a passion for others. Don't a dick, OP, let the kids play. But parents should check up on them from time to time. Too many kids are swearing. That's not good. Parents should be told by a REAL gamer, "hey, your kid is going to play with random people, most of them men, aging from 10 years old to 40 years old. Some of them can be racist and sexist and will probably insult your child. They'll verbally bully them and in rare cases send them hateful messages long after your child has stopped playing or even send them game invites so a group of friends can annoy your child over and over again". When I hear a kid in a lobby that isn't some prick, that he's genuinely enjoying the game and asking if anyone else has a mic, I pipe up. I'll talk to him, I'll meet up, I'll be cool with him. If he kills me, though, it's on. But for the most part, they're alright. *edit* Mods remove my first line talking (joking) about using a belt on a kid but keeps it in a post below that quotes my original post that has the line in it. Logic. Edited April 14, 2014 by livejoker ModderX, SolidSnails, Im2akillerfish and 4 others

But for the most part, they're alright. i actually think it's cuz we have online gaming in this generation notice how back in the PS2 days, this sh*t didn't really happen since online gaming was still considered foreign to anyone that didn't play on a PC, and you had to invite friends over to your house if you didn't want to play by yourself these days, internet is easily accessible by pretty much anything electronic, that includes game consoles that being the case, once a child gets way into a video game, playing it online, they start to develop this alter-ego type mentality, an in-game persona or some sh*t like that. then they start trying to speak and act as if they're what they see their character as. but when they get back into the real world, they're all cookies'n'milk basically it's not that parents stopped giving a sh*t, since kids playing M rated games was always a thing, i was playing GTA3 when i was like 7 (or 8?) it's that now people can virtually be face to face with eachother, and being that it's all virtual, you can get away with just about anything and a 7-year-old can't be trusted with that sort of thing imo i say let them play, but keep them far the f*ck away from online livejoker and A Maned Wolf

livejoker
-snip- i actually think it's cuz we have online gaming in this generation notice how back in the PS2 days, this sh*t didn't really happen since online gaming was still considered foreign to anyone that didn't play on a PC, and you had to invite friends over to your house if you didn't want to play by yourself these days, internet is easily accessible by pretty much anything electronic, that includes game consoles that being the case, once a child gets way into a video game, playing it online, they start to develop this alter-ego type mentality, an in-game persona or some sh*t like that. then they start trying to speak and act as if they're what they see their character as. but when they get back into the real world, they're all cookies'n'milk basically it's not that parents stopped giving a sh*t, since kids playing M rated games was always a thing, i was playing GTA3 when i was like 7 (or 8?) it's that now people can virtually be face to face with eachother, and being that it's all virtual, you can get away with just about anything and a 7-year-old can't be trusted with that sort of thing imo i say let them play, but keep them far the f*ck away from online That's actually a good idea, just unplug the internet from the console and let your kid play. It's sad to think that games rated Mature aren't as bad as the people that play them. Hell, even if my future kid could play Lego:Star Wars with a stranger, I wouldn't let him. The whole "being anonymous" thing is good and bad. I love I can have some sort of alter-ego but I'm probably in the very small minority group of people that doesn't say stuff they wouldn't say face-to-face . Like, I won't say someone to f*ck off (internet only, I say that to everyone on GTA) unless I would in real life (to do that you need to be sure you're saying f*ck off to a guy smaller than you). Some parents give a sh*t and it either makes the kid want to play forbidden games more or he actually listens to the parent. Other parents don't give a crap. Kid wants new GTA, mom picks it up from work without asking the clerk any questions. If you work or hang around a gaming store, you'll see clerks that just don't give a crap anymore about moms picking up a violent game. Violent games are fun and no one can really explain why people love to kill virtual people. They say it's fun and they're right but I never understood why beheading someone is so cool in a game. I can somehow bring the subject of parents brainwashed by the news about games being too violent and being the cause behind shootings and stuff like that but that's a whole other subject. A thing about gaming that's always annoyed me is how the ESRB rating is completely ignored by parents. I can somehow bring the subject of parents brainwashed by the news about games being too violent and being the cause behind shootings and stuff like that but that's a whole other subject. it's common to act somewhat different online than you do in real life i act like a creepy f*ck online, doesn't mean i'm like this in real life. however, just like you, i don't say things to people online that i wouldn't say to someone in real life, that's being your own person. i'm pretty sure most (probably all) people that give me death threats would be too nervous and anti-social to say that sh*t to my face lol being anonymous is good for privacy reasons, but bad because it can be abused. hell, these forums will show it. if i were a parent with a 7-year-old kid who wanted a violent game, i'd get it for him/her, since denying them of that would sorta make me a hypocrite, but i wasn't playing online with a bunch of edgy highschool tryhards at age 7, so i'll be damned if they are and the whole "video games are the cause behind shootings" thing really needs to die. video games don't cause that sh*t, the cause is an unstable mindset that has a lot more and worse influence than 20 minutes of CoD. Levianne
I even created a second character for my nephew (he's like 11 or 12 currently). Not playing much (I rather use his char for supporting my main, selling Ballers and such), but he even played GTA IV on my console before. I don't have a mic so he's not harming anyone by squeeking or whatever. And the last thing, he's a little bit of a small brat already, so the game won't change him much.
