podgamer
I felt compelled to register here to post this, in the hope at least some people that do what I'm about to describe will take heed of how god damn annoying it is. So I understand you may want to play jobs with just your friends or your crew mates. Nothing wrong with that. Of course if they are your friend or crew mate, or indeed both, you have direct access to lists that enable you to invite them to the job lobby. In which case: Turn matchmaking to closed! I've played the game alot, and I tend to just use the random job option on the phone to find something quick. But just lately the problem seems to be increasing where I'll join a random job... Which is usually bloody Rooftop Rumble, but not always... Some moments later without warning I'm kicked out. Generally the lobby is empty except for the host, sometimes I join a lobby and there are three others in it all with the same crew tag, other times I join and they're all talking among themselves. So you see why I'm assuming it's solo or friend/crew gatherings that are the reason I get kicked. But for gods sake, all I want is a game, I'm pretty damn good at what I do, I'm level 150 now which by all accounts may not be a huge level but it does mean U've got the guns and likely the know-how to get things done. Who knows maybe I get kicked because people are intimidated by my rank. Whatever the case if your intent on hosting s lobby with just yourself, your friends or crew, put matchmaking on closed the second you're able to. You can still invite all that you want to, you just won't get randoms like me joining automatically. Honestly I would have thought it was obvious enough... So either the majority of people that do tgese are just retarded, or you get a kick out of kicking for no reason so you must also be retarded. For the few who genuinely had no idea that was what matchmaking did then, now you do and I thank you for acting upon it. Once again, I'm not bothered if you don't want me in the lobby, I just wish you hadn't wasted my time by allowing me to join in the first place. Oh and for anyone that claims they don't get a chance to turn matchmaking to closed before some random joins, go into your options... There's an option to have matchmaking default to closed whenever you host a job. Problem solved. Philichino and numpy
HarveyBest
Agreed. I've been kicked many times for no reason at all.
Red Lynx 23
Back in the early days on GTAO, I joined a deathmatch from the freeroam lobby, and was teamed up with three players in a crew who all wore green flannel shirts, then was kicked. For a short while after that I was also being targeted by players wearing green flannel shirts. One of them showing up and killing me while I was shooting at Police from inside a subway tunnel, trying to get and escape a five star wanted level (helping the LSPD too!). And there were two more of them chasing me in a car, shooting at me. That one got interesting when while running from them, I hit a police car and it turned into a two Bravado Gauntlet and Los Santos Police chase. They also had to forget about me when they earned three or four stars, while I only had two.
Cudwieser
Graciously such fall out never happened, but I've suffered consecutive boots (3 in a row is the most) from both crews and randoms. It is beyond infuriating. I will admit to keeping match making open as I take little offence at someone joining and spectating (if I host it's because I want to do the mission. I appreciate a bit of help, but (off topic) I get sh*t for taking my time I will fail or leave the mission. back on topic I agree whole heartedly with the OP as I'm now level 103 and would think I'd be of some use. If you want to run with friends and crew then set up or invite friends and crew to a session then close the matchmaking and invites or learn to appreciate a bit of help. You can still invite all that you want to, you just won't get randoms like me joining automatically. Op you are just as ignorant of matchmaking options as the hosts your complaining about! This is the problem for some reason people think the mission lobby screen is the place to set this!!! You've already invited people by the time that option comes up no matter how fast you turn it to closed. The proper time to set those options is BEFORE you ever host a mission! Here is the correct place to set matchmaking, it's right above your spawn location: start / online/ options/ matchmaking / closed Now every time you start a mission it will be closed unless you open it. No more having to kick people you just invited.
rushhour250
I always set it to closed.. But it factory defaults to open.. So if you get in before I close it.. Well, I may let you play.. I may boot you.. It really just depends if you took someones spot or not.. I will adjust my options too.. I did not realize you could default it to closed.. I am beginning to think a lot of post like this is because you guys lack a good crew to back you.. These are complaints I have never really had.. dingodile_r89
Post 1.11, closed matchmaking is broken. People joined my job joined when it was closed. A friend can testify to this

I'm fully aware that as soon as you host a job, if matchmaking is open then there's a chance you'll get someone join before youhave a chance to turn it to closed. Hence the last sentence in my post. To be perfectly honest it makes no difference to you if you have it default to closed, other than the fact it stops this from happening. It also means you can mull over the options without worrying if someone might join and trigger the start timer. So no, I'm not as ignorant as the hosts I'm complaining about, thank you very much. I am beginning to think a lot of post like this is because you guys lack a good crew to back you.. These are complaints I have never really had.. Well that's good for you. I am in a crew but like a lot of the older ones it was made for MP3 and now all but three or four of it's 291 odd members are never active. Oh I could joing a big active crew, but it won't stop me from encountering this annoyance as I'm still likely to just join random jobs to get a quick game going so would no doubt still get kicked if I didn't join a lobby that wasn't hosted by a crewmate. Don't also forget not everyone cares about crews, and will happily lone wolf it out of personal preference. I am one such person. I do play with my friends who are in the crew I belong to and are the only reason I'm in that crew at all. When they aren't online I just doquick jobs. As I alluded to earlier though, this kicking issue has really only got annoying in the ast couple of months, ever since I hit the 100's infact. I'm really startin& to think that wasn't a coincidence. Seems a bit thick to be intimidated by high levels when you're doing a coop level though... If anything I'd expect to get kicked from race and dm lobbies because of my level but oddly enough to this day I've only ever been kicked from mission lobbies! MadHaTT3R
OMG really? You got kicked from 3 whole jobs!! Man I don't think I could keep playing if I got kicked from so many jobs in one night!!! My time is important so thats like 3 minutes of my life lost due to joining a game randomly and expecting complete strangers to welcome me with open arms and a big cold beer..... if stuff like this gets you this riled up, maybe its time to stick to SP or (OMG this is going to hurt a little) start your own missions and let others join you. I mean you may have to kick someone sooner or later though and seeing as how your such a wonderful open minded person, that may not be cool. You would have to quit the mission and let the guys you didnt want there to play it without you. Maybe, just maybe, one of em had played with you before and saw that you were of the "Im a higher level, I should get most of the kills" kinda player and didn't want you around. But naw, Im sure you are the best player ever and never treat anyone unkind or take advantage of lower level players.... My advice though, get over it and move on. Over a million players, you have to expect being let go now and again.
SMFtwstdHICK
Maybe they just don't like you.. heehe I'd kick ya too.. Course, I am a moron and if turning off the matchmaking thing works., No worries, so, thanks for the advice.. I will look into that.. I try to just invite my crew members.. There is an option for that. I figured that it would only look for crew members.. Every once in a while some other player will pop up. I usually let em stay, or, they leave before I have to do anything about it.
SaveTheZombies
Yea, maybe they just didn't like the way you looked. jk I find this annoying too. At least kick me just as I join, the worst are the dbags who wait for the match to start.
Cudwieser
What is peculiar about being kicked irrespective if the host wants crew only or not is that bar maybe some lost rp during a mission, the final rp is actually greater if there are more in the game (and more again with crew, but ad far as I'm aware you technically only need one additional crew member for the bonus. It doesn't accumulate with more crew, each crew member simply gets the same bonus). Common sense would make you think I might lose a 100 rp for killing less guys, but should get that on the back end or more if further people join (more rp is accumulated per person in mission as far as I'm aware. If anyone can correct me, please do).

Your exactly right though " to be perfectly honest it makes no difference to you if you have it default to closed, other than the fact it stops this from happening!!!!!" I have played the game since October and leveled 2 characters to 160+. Never, not once, has anyone joined a session when I left matchmaking closed. Captain Revenge
I run it solo, there is no point in opening the matchmaker if i can run it alone, get all the kills, 3775 rp and $18,750. Just me and my Buzzard, however when u run it with crew your rp increases by a lot.
MadHaTT3R
I have the problem lately where I join a mission and then suddenly get disconnected from it. Im usually in an XBL Party and I drop from that as well, as if a network hiccup occurred. This could explain being dropped at the start of a mission. Perhaps your not actually being kicked.
