MadMugen
so after seeing this thread i am curious to play a saints row game (pc) i will buy saints row 2 or saints row 3 can anybody help me buy correct one that can last long and has good gameplay and story. thanks SR2 can be tough on a PC. You need to get "gentlemen of the row" to help the game run. In all honesty I would recommend getting SR2 on consoles

Bat Guano
Just Played the fourth, the third and I'm 35% in the second. The 4th is great, the 2nd is almost perfect and the third is a worsened version of the second. Saints Row 2 is pretty much San Andreas 2.
Rock Howard
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Volition really need to get with the times if they're gonna do SR V and include online deathmatches. Thr33X
Guest
I think Volition should expand on the gang theme they used in SR1 and 2, and make another franchise out of that. Instead of being the Saints, we'd make our own gangs, with full customisation of gang cars, where the money goes, guns used and stuff. Vehicle handling would need an overhaul definitely, an arcadey style, but not an easy style. Like Midnight Club, I think MC is perfect for arcadey handling. Anyone can pick up and play which is what people like about SR, but to win online races still takes skill and is competitive. Then of course this could be taken into online, for some fun multiplayer. Different gangs with different styles. One gang would drive rusty Comptons and focus their money on guns, another would be driving around in Voxels and Torches, both earning money and competing in different ways. There should be balance though, no gang should be driving around in Attraziones and spamming rockets, unless they're putting in a lot of work and are amazing at everything. If Volition had some solid shooting mechanics and driving, along with multiplayer gangs, I think that would be an awesome game that everyone would like. MadMugen
I hear much more "going back to the roots" in various discussions around the internet than continuing going down the SR4 path. Also if people loved it so much why didn't SR4 sell at least the same level of SR3? All we heard is that the game sold 1 million copies (360 PS3 PC)in the first week then we heard nothing else about the sales figures. I wonder did SR4 dramatically drop off after the first week or 2? Revenge of the Donut
It'd be interesting to see SR return to the gangs and Stillwater, but I honestly liked SR3 and 4, they were a laugh and the gameplay was pretty good. So if Violation went and implemented something wacky like time travel in 5 then that would just be okay with me, either way I'd probably enjoy it. Thr33X
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Volition really need to get with the times if they're gonna do SR V and include online deathmatches. An entire online component in today's era of gaming is pretty much mandatory now. Seeing as games like APB and GTA Online have laid the groundwork for OMP Action/Shooters, it would be a crime (no pun intended) if Volition didn't implement some kind of MP Deathmatch or Freeroam mode in their next Saints Row title, especially given the level of customization the game offers up by default. Technical deficiencies can no longer be an excuse now since we're in a new console generation and they can handle the load 10 times more than the previous gen and can at the very least keep up with PC processing. I'm just hoping that we do get a Saints Row Online, and that it sh*ts all over GTAO.

True...but lol for a franchise that less than 10yrs old?Not really,GTAO have been a prototype since 1999's GTA2 (15 years ago)...The franchise is just "TOO" ruined and all over the place (Less Popular) to even think of a multiplayer like GTAO. I only found out that it was a thing when I was browsing TPB. I don't remember seeing any advert or anything from the big gaming channels about it, it just seemed to happen. I remember the announcement of the DLC (enter the dominatrix or something like that) that SR4 was supposed to be but not the game itself so I couldn't tell you what the gap for SR4 is so I can't really compare the gap. MadMugen
I'm still wondering why SR4 sales figures haven't been released outside of the first week. Normally game companies do that. BLOOD

Note:WD a new ip have sold 8ml (from 4ml) to-date,even though it nowhere near V it near Saints Row already (an 8yrs old franchise). Capital
I just ordered SR4. I haven't previously played a Saint's Row although I did see a friend play SR2. It seemed really fun in gameplay footage, and waiting for some GTA V Story DLC a nice free roam. Did I make the right choice? A friend reckoned I should have went with SR2, but that does look fairly old by now.

Some people love the game, but most people I noticed didn't really like or it was meh. - SR4 is a super hero alien game in a series that's been about gangs for 3 games. Gangs turned parody/sci-fi. A lot of fans felt like it was a slap in face - Easily one of the worst open world crime environments (lacks diversity, life, and anything interesting). - Very repetitive activities (example: there's 4/5 versions of a same activity) SR4 probably would have been a better game if it was a different game series. I would honestly say you should have got SR2, but if you really want to get into the series start get SR1 too. SR2 is my favorite open world crime game so far. Boxman108
SR4 has a better story than 3 if only for returning to stuff from the first two games and really only for nostalgia's sake at that.

Hmmm nice bike
So... is it real or what? They had a voice actor from Saints Row 2 recording stuff back in December (for a character who was killed in 2, as well), but that's all we know about SR5. I'm actually curious if they can do anything new with the series or not, like maybe going back to their gangster roots and being less retarded. I figured we would have seen an announcement by now. They did recently hire a lot of new staff (since a lot were laid off during SR3's development back when THQ was in shambles), but I dunno if that means anything or not. Who knows, maybe they're interested in waiting until they can make something a bit higher quality at least, not just a rehash of SR4 with a few new things added (like how 4 was intended to be DLC for 3 and ended up seeming more like an expansion pack than anything). PowerKracker
If it's returning to Stilwater I'll be pissed. No, really. Stilwater was a much better location than Steelport (having more than just urban environments - a mountain, a trailer park, lots of hidden locations), and we know they'll never return to the direction 2 had. I wanted the Stilwater saga to end with SR2, so my good memories can be buried there and the franchise's sudden turn to gimmicks can stay in Steelport. TheMcSame
As long as it's as good as SR2 I'll be happy. Hopefully they've started to realise people want something like SR2 rather than SR3 or 4.
