I have seen some people talking about this and some say it does and other say it doesn't

In your opinion do you think having a Spoiler on the car help it with decreasing the amount of drag and downward force or do you think it's merely a show piece?

Nope, purely aesthetic.

Nope.

Purely aesthetic.

Exactly the same answer on the second, nice.

The third option is laughable. The topic is 'do spoilers increase performance', what would how it looks have anything to do with how it performs? Form/Function are not the same.

Actually, one spoiler does affect performance. Put the big wing on the Phoenix and you can fly. Or it can get caught on some low bridges.

I've been trying to get a spoiler-Infernus for 3-4 days (3 times, none, wasted money) just because it looks nicer with it.
You probably heard this crazy talk in a lobby, right? People take GTA too seriously. You'll see a bunch of threads here on how the racing sucks or how the shooting isn't right, etc. People don't realize GTA isn't a racing game, it isn't a 3rd person shooter. It's an open-world that manages to do all of these things to some extent. It's not f*cking Forza but at least in GTA if you get spun out you can catch up and shoot them in the head.

So no, spoilers don't affect anything. A good test would be a light car that tends to jump around a lot. Put a spoiler on it, try it for yourself.

Actually, your lack of knowledge is what is laughable.

Deadly Aviator

The poll does not match your question.

I put them on because they look good, no, they do absolutely nothing, many of them don't even have hitboxes.

So the cooler a spoiler looks, the better it is?

Cool story brah.

Although I get what you're saying. Form does mean function.

But they have no effect whatsoever in game.

In the real world spoilers and wings can make a huge difference,

in GTA? No change at all.

A spoiler will increase drag, not decrease it. Watch an F1 race at Monza and you'll see the rear wings with as flat a profile as they are allowed in order to reduce drag and achieve higher speeds. Compare that with what they run at Monte Carlo (a track where top speed is not so critical, but grip through corners is) where the wings will have a deep profile to give as much downforce as possible to give more grip..

However, as far as this game is concerned, spoilers are purely aesthetic.

Just like how when dumbsh*ts put those huge, ugly aftermarket spoilers on their tuners IRL...they actually do nothing to the car

It looks cool, but I don't feel any difference.

Strange Town

I would only put a spoiler in my car if it would match my car's color

Does not alter performance. It does however increase the amount of useless threads on this site.

I'd explain it to you but it has already been covered and It would obviously be a waste of time.
