Is less really more when it comes to content?

I like the idea of more content as much as the next guy here, but is Rockstar doing the right thing when it comes to releasing content? Now I'm in no way shape or form defending nor arguing against Rockstar, but we all have to agree when it comes to some things we have to much or not enough of something.

Lets look at the examples; The Beach Bum pack, the Valentines DLC, and the Business pack released have all released clothing and cars. In only a few circumstances have the actually added a new type of clothing and just added several different cars for a few different car classes. Now when it comes to clothing, obviously the more the better for more possible outfits and styles and rockstar has delivered for the most part in this department. But they really haven't gone much further than that. Many here would love to see more different 'accessories' and clothing options instead of just adding to those already in the game. Such examples of these are backpacks, purses, overalls, and much more.

But is not giving us 100 new different cars make us appreciate the ones we do get even more? I for one can say that since the Valentines DLC I have personally owned and loved every car available to purchase (will include the Bifta but the other Beach Bum vehicles were obsolete, my own opinion). And now Rockstar is adding three more vehicles into the game and I know I am not as excited because it will be like every other update, everyone will drive around the brand new cars for a week and never take them out again. So is it a bad thing they are handing out more? I'm torn of the decision of that because I see it from the gamer side and want more diversity and options, but the more realist side of me sees it as them just diluting the water and making them less important. What do you guys think?

It's always nice to have more options.
Reskins or new models; having something new to oggle for is always a plus in my book.

They could do more...but I'll start saying that at least until the game is 18 months old.

I tried to tell myself that "less is more" when I finished the GTAV story. It's kind of true, because I didnt' need any more of that writing. I did need a better story. :p

Agree to all of this, especially the last bit. People tend to get upset about Heists and other things not being available yet when for a good month, nearly 90% of the players in online had over $50 Million that was dirty money, probably not 90% but a large enough they had to wipe almost everyone.

If the game gets to be a year old and I'm already finding myself wanting more things that are so basic that they should have been included at launch, that is when I'll start getting angry.

I needed the old narrative formula. It gave us much more depth to the protagonist, the antagonist & the entire supporting cast.

I liked the "meet a contact, do 3-5 missions for them, unlock new contact, rinse & repeat" formula from the III era & IV rather well. Having the game focus on certain characters or areas at a time left a much deeper impression than they did in V's story, which I felt was all over the place.

I can name you every character & region, minor or important, from III, Advance, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, IV, TBOGT, TLAD & CTW....but can't name you 3 guys outside of the protagonists or any Online character...and even those have no real impression on me. The entire sum of the V cast can't even overcome James Wood's charm as Toreno alone.

Hell, they can't even surpass Claude.

I don't so much want more "content" in the form of "things" so much as I want more "content" in the form of "substance".

What I mean by this (forget Heists - couldn't care less), I want more of a narrative and elements from story mode mixed in (feels like it was forcibly thrown in there with no real rhyme or reason). I want more "modes" or activities of some kind. I want more of an immersive experience and a solid narrative can only help that. It's all so repetitive at this point with little variety. Not saying I'm bored of it as I'm always finding something to do, but I can see arguments toward that sentiment.

It would have been nice if Toreno had come in to the GTAV story to provide some adult supervision for the FIB and IAA fools and sort them out properly. But that would have been too far above the GTAV storyline and would have cheapened our memory of Toreno.

Lol, I can already see Haines's & ULP guy's faces as Toreno casually walks in & breaks the whole Kortz center thing up like it ain't no thang...

But sadly R* screwed over the entire III lore (the best they ever made IMO...if you want want my opinion on what R*'s worst crime is...it's that) in favor of a reboot that easily could have been a continuation of the events, specially since the HD era never ventures into any 1984 - 2001 III era timeline.

Not entirely no. Some areas w.r.t writing were improved quite a bit, others not so much or went backwards. Keepin' it short and sweet so I don't derail this thread (much more) :D

It appears you didn't read the entire post. I wasn't bitching about the lack of content or the surplus of it, just merely questioning if they are doing the right thing in some aspects of the game.
