Idea: Urban Warfare add-on

How about no? Look some of this stuff is cool but this isn't what GTA needs. What it needs is more hood things since we have business things, mac 10's and tec 9's, pull over hoodies that cover the head and can be worn with mask, bandanas and baseball/leather gloves, snap backs and fitted caps, chains and watches as well as the ability to wear watches on one wrist and bracelets on another, saggin pants and sneakers modeled after jordans or something. I am not saying your idea is whack but at the same time this could honestly go on the other Military themed thread.

We have most of those items, the problem is they are all in Single Player mode, not in multiplayer. The Mac 10's and Tech 9's are redundant add-ons considering the mini-SMG AND AP pistol cover their function as drive-by weapons entirely. The new hoodies, sure, the game should have had those since launch. Why the developers didn't think if it is beyond me.

 

As for posting this in the "other Military theme thread" I'll be promoting another player's ideas and not my own. Secondly, that other thread sucked.

 

Okay and we are talking about online right? There for I was talking about these things for online not single player. And everyone wants those two weapons it doesn't matter how "redundant" you think they are because your "tactical" shotgun would take a backseat to the assault shotgun. I never heard anyone want that till you said something about it, look the fact is this...we don't need military things in a game that really doesn't have anything to do with military. Merryweather is a small paramilitary with a small roll in single player and an even smaller one online besides the occasional pick up via boat or chopper. What is everyone's obsession with Military in games that don't need it? I swear it is becoming like zombies and maybe the reason that other thread sucks is because people are some what tired of the military themes? The best thing in this threat is the anti tank rocket because people will always want to take out rockets or heavy duty vehicles. Even if you didn't want to do a "hood" themed thread there is a million and one things you can do BESIDE military themed things. Oh by the way if you are going to make a thread like this and be all "tactical"? You're gonna wanna stop calling mags, clips. I think that bugged me the most out of everything when you made this thread. Also before you ask no I am not trolling I am dead serious..about EVERYTHING I just said.

 

 

Nothing military in the game? Umm, hello, moron, we have a frigging tank AND attack chopper we can buy and use in missions! Tell me those aren't military based. Not to mention we can buy MILITARY themed trucks and even a goddamn military cargo plane. Does the Titan ring any bells? Oh, and as for the gangstas and criminal aspects of this game, have you ever seen the kind of weapons and body armor used by fricking drug cartels? Those SOB's are as geared up as the US Army. Why do you think no one ever takes them head on? Because they are miniature armies. The other thread sucked because the ideas sucked in it. They weren't detailed and it went off the rails and the poll was a piece of sh*t.

What? Are you serious or just clueless about how the criminal world works? The majority of gangstas out there WORK for cartels or are in some way affiliated with them. When it comes to the criminal world cartels run EVERYHTING. Where do you think 90% of the cocaine comes from? Cartels make it, smuggle it then have their gangstas sell it on the street. Basically, gangstas are PART of the cartels so they are in fact one in the same.

African American street gangs and the Mexican drug cartel are NOT one in the same. They share one common interest. Coke. Just because the blacks and Mexicans have a drug trade agreement doesn't mean that they have any real relation outside of cocaine.

No, except for the weapons and vehicles. I don't want everyone running around in military attire. Camo clothing would be fine, but armour, helmets and all that goes a bit too far. Before you know it we'll have kiddies running around in full military gear going all Col. Dickhead on everyone.

So, because someone has a black character on here they automatically HAVE to be a street gangsta? That's racist... Maybe some of people with black characters want to play as a merc who works for drug dealers and cartels. Ever consider that? Naw, it's easier to keep up the weak ass argument "Dis is GTA, we iz ganstaz b1tch!" despite the fact the whole gangsta aspect is severely downplayed and overshadowed by the heists, arms and drug smuggling (Trevor), FIB spec op missions (Michael) with Franklin along from the ride to learn a better criminal trade. If you actually play the singer player, you'll learn Franklin DOESN'T want to be some two bit thug from the hood or gangsta. He wants the big time, hence why he teams with Michael and Trevor. If ANYTHING the theme of the game is breaking pre-conceived notions about what one should be doing and focuses more on what one wants to do and seizing control of one's destiny, reaching for greater things, which Franklin does.

 

Besides, those street gangs are always buying guns and ballistic vests off of cartels, most of which are military grade.

 

Thirdly, this game has a HEAVY military presence in it. Half of the missions require you to steal a cargobob from Fort Zancudo. Or to kill a witness being transported from fort zancudo. Or have you stealing helicopters from the military. Or have you stealing attack choppers from Merryweather. Well, damn, it seems to me that more than half of the missions having you doing something involving either the military or Merryweather.

 

Bottom line, letting players have gear like the Mercs or swat teams or the military fits right in with this game. Even in the main story you have Michael doing black op missions with the FIB, stealing chemical weapons, kidnapping ICA informants, and doing tons of other paramilitary spy stuff constantly. Hell, the main story ISN'T even about gangstas, but bank robbers and we can't rob a single bank in GTAO at all. Your argument is crap so knock it off or come up with something better..

I think this is all good except the flashbang thing. 10 seconds is ENTIRELY too long. I think instead of Flash Bangs, it should concussion grenades. When thrown, noise gets distorted/muffled and your vision gets blurry, and your character does a little animation reacting to the flash bang, but you could still shoot, but your redicule would sway a lot until you go back to normal in 5 seconds.

This could/should be a regular theme for R*. Maybe I'm asking for a lot, but maybe bi-monthly themed updates would keep the game going. Actually, everything you asked for is completely reasonable and is exactly what Rockstar should be doing. We need more content added into the game. It seems to me that clothing, weapons, vehicles and gameplay were a barebones setup from launch, giving us the bare minimum compared to what was available in Single Player mode. Even the wardrobe seemed incomplete. And let's not get into the issue of the casino that sits unused, the various stores we cannot enter and the fast food stores, all of which were available in both San Andreas and GTA 4, are now props in the background and no longer functional venues for our usage.

 

All in all, it feels as though GTAO was very rushed and released incomplete. Now it is up to the community to help guide the developers in the right direction in terms of the content we want.

Also, just get the APC from TBOGT and have it fire some sort of non-lethal ammo.

 

Well, my idea for the APC is that it has no weapons, but the passengers and driver could shoot out the windows and lean out the side and shoot. Giving it any sort of cannon, even if non-lethal, would attract the attention of every cry baby on these forums calling for it's nerfing.

 

So, the next best solution is to simply have it as a heavily armored vehicle that can take as much punishment as a tank, but not give people one hit kills.

True. The models are already in the game, all they need to do is allow for players to purchase and equip them to their character. It's a wonder they didn't do this from the start.

Great ideas! I hate walking into the Ammunation and seeing the gas mask in the display but are unable to purchase. Along with the Bowie Knife and the giant Machete.
