So it seems that the capture creator was actually on everyone's consoles on tuesday, but rockstar just didn't activate it.

When I saw that the creator was available early, I thought that it was just a mistake, and that the finished completed capture creator would be downloaded in new a patch on friday, since this made it evident they sent everyone this capture creator and the associated creator description with 1.12 on tuesday, but surely delayed releasing it because they realised they had to fix it.

 

But no, R* will be R*: spend more time promoting glitching youtubers and pointless crews than on fixing their broken and incomplete game's content additions...,

Here's some vital things which are wrong with the capture creator, I say 'wrong' because I know they can be fixed and they are not due to hardware or game engine limitations, but R* themselves withholding capabilities of the creator (as additional evidence, many of these problems are not present within race or DM creator, and ofc R*'s full mission creator).

 

Please note this is not an exhaustive list (check the comments for several more glitches, I might add the worst ones to the list soon):

-Cannot set specific team or AI spawn points, only spherical areas, which as R* says themselves, don't work properly: ("Avoid difficult terrain. If your respawn area includes steep ground chances are players will respawn then immediately fall to their death, rinse and repeat")

-Cannot Place anything in LSX or Ft.Zancudo (Rockstar are still happy to have an image of a capture taking place in LSX in their pdf about using the capture creator without a disclaimer though -.-)

-There (still) are many vehicles and versions of vehicles missing.

-Some vehicles cannot have their liveries selected/have liveries missing (e.g benson, cargobob, "police" maverick)

-Vehicle accessories which spawn randomly cannot be controlled or set (e.g Packer, Granger, Patriot, Tipper, Sadler etc.)

-Cannot set capture vehicles' respawn properties, they will always respawn straight away.

-Cannot set placed vehicles' respawn properties, they will never respawn.

-In one (or more) of the modes (i forgot which), vehicles cannot be placed in the respawn area.

-Interactive trailers cannot be spawned, or set as capture objectives.

-Cannot enforce players to use only certain weapons

-Ridiculous limit of only 3 or 5 types of vehicles (depending on mode), even with a ton of model memory left.

-Ridiculous limit of only 10 actors.

-Cannot set a respawn timer, trigger or location for AI's to respawn, which means they will just keep respawning on top of players even after they are right next to them.

-Cannot set any capture objectives to reset after a period of time or event (meaning they can get stuck forever)

-Cannot set 'friendly' AI characters to shoot targets on sight to protect players.

-Not all weapons are available for the actors

-Actors in vehicles will drive around after players with no regard for their set boundaries

-When switching camera modes you can often spawn falling under the world

-When 'testing' the capture, you cannot test anything involving team spawning since you cannot turn invincibility off and there are no AI teammate stand-ins present.

-A 'valid test' does not require the capture to be possible to complete (all but a single objective can be placed in an unobtainable location or situation) ("A test is only considered valid if you successfully collect a Capture Object/Vehicle and deliver it (scoring 1 point) to your Capture Point.")

-When a test is finished, you do not go straight back to the content creator as you should; you go through a glitched set of job completion screens (similar to if you just played a real match) .

 

I also have some suggestions of what they could included in the creator, along with addressing the above issues:

 

-Allow placement of objectives within vehicles (e.g you would have to blow the doors of an armoured truck to access them)

-Set range at which actors engage targets, and to be able to set patrol waypoints instead of a useless sphere.

-An option for bulletproof tyres on vehicles (e.g so a capture vehicle cant get shot at then be stuck somewhere)

 

TL;DR: I believe rockstar just hurriedly took their official creator and cut a bunch of things out, then released it without testing it properly (even with the extra time to work on it with their activation of it delayed to friday, instead of tuesday when it was added to people's console's with 1.12)

 

Edit: To those who say rockstar can be forgiven because it is a beta,

 

THERE IS NOT A SINGLE MENTION OF BETA IN THEIR ENTIRE NEWSWIRE POST OR PDF GUIDE!
In every piece of media I have seen Rockstar are 'marketing' this as a fully completed feature, there is no mention of it being in development, with work to improve it, or that bugs are likely to occur and should be reported. The only place it says beta is on the very first menu, I have not noticed it anywhere else, neither in game or in R*'s media.
I think it is just an ALIBI for not completing the work as well as it should be.

People need to remember that the creator is in BETA, that means it's in it's testing phase and will constantly get updated. Could it have more? Yes. Is it bad? No, it's far from bad. It's the only thing we have seen on GTA to be able to make our own things.

Capture sounds like one big pain in the ass of a cluster f*ck. I'll stick to my DM/TDMs thank you very much. It might not be complete OP, just be happy it even works.

Actually in another thread some other people were saying they had it freeze on them.

Doesn't surprise me, I'm freezing once a day in general, but I find if I don't loiter in free roam too long after a TDM, I hardly ever freeze up.

You should try the DM Creator sometime, you can spawn Lazers in it!

I can only imagine what the mission creator will have wrong with it when it's released. They should allow us to create survivals now, they can't be too complex.

creators are always beta.. I don't even want to attempt it. I'd rather have mission creator already. I favor cooperation over competition.

Overall I enjoy it, don't think it ''sucks''. It's very impressive but with a large amount of holes in the armor.

 

It has a large variety of bugs but my main issues so far are

 

- Cannot set it to forced weapons.

- Cannot set specific spawn points, I have to use zones which complicates indoor captures I had planned.

- During testing, random props disappear, some props change themselves into other props and random props appear in the match.

- Cannot turn off invincibility to test spawning but that wouldn't be an issue if I could set specific spawn points.

 

Every time I host my capture, after the lobby when it launches session I lose 80% of the people that joined.

During the actual capture match, sometimes the actors and suitcases stop spawning.

It freezes my console some times when I'm in the creator.

 

Glitches are through the roof...

Some of your points are valid, others less so.

 

Just to cherry pick one... I find the 10 actor limit reasonable, even if I'd like more. You can be guaranteed that people would spam the hell out of actors if the limit was higher.

Limiting what can be done won't stop people from making crappy jobs, but it will limit how good well made jobs can be, and the variety of jobs possible.

The type of people who make crap like prison thugz fight and jumps jumps jumps aren't going to come up with great new capture ideas just because they can't spam loads of actors instead.

Set the actors from aggressive to defensive, and set the relationship to attack the team you want, and the team to be friendly to.

Not my experience, they only shoot at targets if they either hit them or hit a person on the team they are friendly to (so that player will have been killed by the enemy before the AI responds and shoots at them, which is why they can't effectively be used to defend from spawn camping, which is what I was trying to use them for)

Must be buggy or we're missing something.

^Maybe they have a 'detection range' and the people where outside of that until they fired their weapon, but I noticed that with police right next to them they won't do a thing until the police hit a team member, they don't actively defend.

an actor from the police/military faction wont attack cops even if set to friendly they will ignore them.

I found another awesome glitch.

 

After you publish your capture and later attempt to update it. When you Test, your screen turns black and nothing happens. Pulling out the ethernet cable to disconnect doesn't help so you have to manually restart the game in order to get out of it, losing all progress you've made of course.

 

Why would Rockstar release something so incomplete, I understand it's beta but if I took my time I could make an entire page of listed issues I've encountered in the capture creator so far. I'm frustrated due to so many glitches happening every minute. Making a job was one thing, now you have struggle to keep it stable...

I'm emailing this to rockstar so that they can actually change it we are trying to progress out of beta... We tested capture creator,... There was flaws and they need to be fixed

im pretty sure you can. i went thru options of neutral and friendly and it let me set them for teams.
