What should I do when I facing a P-996 Lazer?

You cant stop a skilled pilot, the only way is to go into passive mode or do like the noobs do & shoot at it with a sniper. But like the guy did, i also just go get another jet.

The best defense against jets are to switch on your passive mod but its only recommended for a top class pilot the kinda guy who knows how to kill with the jets guns. and the idea by a dude is awesome i.e bringing your P.V that discourages pilots greatly. (coming from an expert pilot)

well catchmetrolling guys is kinda right too a skilled pilot is not very easy to aim , as i have dealt with snipers , i lay low taking cover of buildings then after some time i attack surprising the enemy as lazer is very fast it can move form one player to other in matter of seconds.Best bet would be switching on your passive but if you wish to combat then you need two things

1 - Heavy sniper with a very good aim (you might get killed a few times before damaging the jet

2- You can get another jet if you can manage.

You need 5 seconds of direct firing at the tanks with the cannons, which have pretty short range, and it's nearly impossible to stay in that range for 5 seconds whilst going straight down, as well as pulling back up so you don't crash. I normally take 3 waves since I pull up earlier so that the tank can't shoot me down.

I'm not sure what you mean, what angle would you have to come from? I know it would be possible to come from a low angle and slow down to almost hover speed and then you can easily destroy the tank, but that's not practical since the tank can shoot you. But when attacking from above I have no idea how someone could slow down so that they can stay within the range of the cannons for over 5 seconds, since you would have to go against gravity.

Where are these tank players you face, and can I smack them for some easy K/D? I can get tanks like that too, if they are anywhere in the northern part of the map (northern part of the city, desert, etc). Tanks that always show that black vent on the back are my favorite. A good tank is going to want to constantly put pressure on you. Either by hiding near or under an overpass, under a part of a building, or better yet, in downtown with all the tall buildings. It wont take you one strafe run on them, unless A. They are really really bad and let you slow down to that hovering halt to let them get off all those shots on them. B. You get off all those shots on them and then crash into them.

Stop with the bogus "one word", "one sentence" posts. I'm stating that a tank has an equal chance of taking out a jet. I'm also pointing out that it is clearly not possible in one strafe run to take out a tank unless you:

 

1. are practically hovering in one spot in the air to pull off all the shots (in which case you are a sitting duck to a competent tank.)

 

2. Tank has already been damage or surrounded by a ridiculous number of cops for that splash damage.

 

3.You get really lucky and pull every shot on the tank and crash into him.

As a professional jet griefer i would have to say my worse enemy is someone who gets out their PV's. paying 12.5 for adders is not an issue as I glitched mills..but the BS points are annoying.

 

So get your pv enter passive and let them keep destroying it until they get bored.

 

Alternatively, you could go off the radar and heavy snipe it. However it's quite obvious when someone does this so I normally fly away for 60 seconds and come back to continue to drink the salty tears of my victims.

 

Or a crazzzzzzyyy idea...you could change lobbies.

 

 

Also, destroying a tank in a single strafe is possible. however the approach angle has to be acute and it for me, I've always had to accurately fire two missiles before switching to guns. Note that an acute angle leaves you vulnerable to being blown out of the sky. So if you're going to attempt a single strafe make sure the guy doesn't even know you're coming.

I kinda stopped flying the jet in every session, but when I did I would mind my own business's and fly down between all the building, upsided down etc. someone that will practice at it a lot will have no problem still killing people.

 

It's just like GTAIV with the Annihilator, people would run from the air port to the other islands and hide in narrow streets and back alleyways, and I would still get them. With the jet it's faster but there is also a lot more room to fly.

Heavy sniper it up, but you'll most likely die a bunch of times if the pilot's competent/dead set on killing you. Whatever you do, don't get a Rhino unless you've come to the conclusion that the pilot is absolute garbage (low-angle approaches, late rolls, etc). Skilled pilots annihilate Rhinos with ease unless they're hiding in a car park or underneath something. Hell, you could probably toss an RPG at him if he's really bad or a low flier.

Dosent matter, it can still be done.

 

The tank probably has a higher chance to get the kill, but it CAN be done with the jet getting the kill.... Success rate? Who know, too many factors.

I "defeated" a Lazer last night.

 

I put quotes around that because all I really did was manage to hit the plane, not even the pilot, and they flew off. Assuming they were new to the jet and didn't realize they could be hit but still kind of funny dude was shooting rockets at me one second then high tailing it away the next.

@ Aray35 Well when am killing normal players, ground targets , cars etc etc i never use my landing gear (as it disables maneuverability) but when i decide to blow a tank its simple i engage my landing gear(Landing gear disables maneuverability but gives you more control for straight kill and by adjusting your finger on the throttle trigger you can slow it down with your jet straight on top) after adjusting my AOA (Angle of Attack) when that is set up all you need is to aim the vents of the tank as landing gear slows jet down and you get plenty of time to destroy the tank but of course you must be skilled as soon as i get the tank i quickly close the landing gear to make a sharp vertical climb.(I have crashed a few times perfecting this).But you finally get the hang of it.

i get it,when getting a jet from fort zancudo sometimes i forget to raise the landing gear.the plane acts sluggish/slow.

when diving you can use the landing gear as extra air brakes!.i used to slam the brakes on in a dive but the engines cut out.

with the landing gear open you can maintain control while keeping on target in a vertical dive?!!!!!

Head to a tunnel and wait until he forgets about you.

 

Then go get you own jet and kill him while his attention is elsewhere.

Won't work.

 

If the guy is a professional griefer then he will check the map between every kill to see where the white dots are and if they are anywhere near an Airport.

 

I personally check Sandy Shores, Grape Seed and then LSIA and also observe dots to see if they're moving in a straight line or sticking to roads.

You're probably dealing with those garbage pilots who try to kill you with the rockets.

 

If you come across a half decent pilot you'll die between every shot you get, guaranteed. You're better off zig-zagging as the jet comes in for it's approach (I hit L1 and R1 to spray the floor equally to counter this).

 

If you do shoot at the Lazer, the pilot can see the trail from your gun even if they can't see you. So you've now revealed your location even though your character hasn't rendered.

 

The guys I love the most are people who shoot RPG's (acts like a flare. I'm here pilot!!! Plzzz kill me) and people who use an MG/Minigun and constantly keep shooting - Looks like a water fountain from the air.

It really sounds like a lot of people here HAVEN'T actually ran into any good jet pilots. That SFBryan18 guy clearly hasn't been against a good jet pilot. I've destroyed hundreds of tanks with my jet and I haven't been shot down once, however I've crashed about 10 times due to the annoying rain. There have been times where I had to take down 2 tanks at once and one time where there was 5 tanks, all of them so unskilled and I killed them all.

 

And yes, I know there's a such thing as a bad jet pilot, we all know this. I've shot down several noobs in jets with a tank before back when I used to use my tank because I just got it. There have always been those jet pilots who are literally impossible to shoot. You cant shoot high enough to hit them or turn around quick enough to hit them. I know the tanks range and where it can see/shoot so I can avoid it no problem. I even practice on tanks at the military base and they cant kill me with their auto aiming tanks.

 

Also its hilarious to see that kid back out of the fight with the other guy. I haven't read past page 2 because it was too funny that he was being that much of a pussy and came out with a stupid excuse. I hope he knows someone else can just call up a tank for him.

 

EDIT: Reading through the thread a bit and I realized tons of people are 100% hopeless against jets and just pray for them to crash. A good jet pilot very rarely crashes. Yesterday I was in the exact same jet for 3 hours and nobody could shoot me down with snipers or tanks. I think my connection was a little laggy though because I kept having those mini freezes, I guess that's irrelevant because people still don't kill me when my connection is perfect.
