Tip on avoiding the console freezing

I only occasionally froze in pub games until 1.12. After the update as soon I tried playing online it would freeze until I loaded a different SP save. So it could be a corrupted save causing some of the freezing.

Froze twice in invite only sessions two nights ago and I was the only one in the lobby both times.

 

Pretty sure it was a fluke thing, for me anyway, as that has never happened to me before.

 

Oddly enough, it's the exact same for me. Two nights ago, invite only session and alone, and froze twice.

 

Never had a problem with freezing before the update.

Every time my console has frozen I've been driving at top speed. It's hasn't happened any other time

after reading the posts in various threads, there definitely seems to be a seperate issue of game freezes post patch .11 yet not all players have been affected by this.

 

what is clear patch .12 has not fixed these issues for the majority.

 

lucky for me I have not experienced the latest freezes since .11

 

had I done so I would probably have given up until it was fixed

 

unless rockstar further optimizes the game for better performance I don't see things improving.

 

the game already runs like sh*t and they are adding more content.

I get frozen no matter what type of lobby I'm in. I'm guessing it happens more frequently in full lobbies. I don't play alone that often, & have never froze while doing so.

i had the same freezing issue and it seemed to be better on solo servers. then i got a freeze while bmxing on a solo... long story short, now ive tried every method to restore. just did the full 10 hr ps3 restore to factory default, and will be testing it out for you patient folks this evening.

longer story, it was freezing maybe once in a 3 hr session. then it went to i couldnt play passed 25 minutes online, but singleplayer was fine. then i tried reinstalling game data, and it froze in a single player session while using the same game save file. so im pretty sure every time i dealt with a freeze and restarted and let it freeze again, my console was hating me more and more. i would be careful not to let it freeze this much and just give up until they repatch.

 

however, ive heard good results and no more freezing after doing this FULL system restore and am hoping for the best when i test it out tonight. either way, it was 1.11's fault. but dealing with the freezes may have had a big negative impact on my console. players beware.

I froze after 1.12. Invite only session on my own, did one mission, got to the vote screen afterwards and then froze after choosing the next mission. Sad to say I'm done with this game until the forums report that the freezing is fixed.

1.12 hasn't froze on me yet. Mostly public free roam too.

Idk if I should buy it, I like 3 alot, plus I heard it's buggy.

 

I have BF4 on next gen. Ive played it on 360 also. so much better and less buggy on next gen

I've been experiencing extreme lag during freeroam (+ slow world texture loading) since post 1.11. The freezing occurs when starting a job (stuck at the job selection screen with the "loading mission/session" message at the bottom of the screen)

It doesn't matter anymore. I froze during the cutscene of Rooftop Rumble. You're not in a session technically then.

I'm pretty sure it's somehow related with the public rooms. The last 2 days, I've been playing in private sessions and It REALLY stopped happening. Please test this theory guys.

nice theory but it's wrong, I play in closed crew sessions and we all get freezing issues, including the one member who bought a brand new Xbox, and with a fresh install of GTA V and all the updates the game froze within 3 hours and has frozen multiple times since.

 

clearly a bug or bugs in the update coding got introduced with 1.11 and still exists in 1.12, or is that bug actually hiding in the Business update files amongst the increased traffic path nodes ?

im just glad i've only froze 2-3 times since i started playing again, maybe it's because my console is less than 2 months old?

my console is 7 years old, I've played dark souls 2 for 100+ hours and not once did I freeze. I freeze every 30 minutes on GTAO, the only thing we can do is reinstall both discs and clear our cache and the rest is up to rockstar.

Current...

A bit buggy here and there, but with all the explosive environments and multitude of different vehicles, weapons, artillery fire, helicopters, and everything else eye candy... You really don't get caught up in bugs.

 

Battlefield 4 is sh*t. Sure they keep updating it but they always some how keep f*cking up the servers. Half the time everything is running nice and smoothly and the other half you don't even have the time to react to being shot. They say they're addressing "netcode" issues but i have yet to see a damn deference. I want to play more BF but it's just too much of a piss off. BF3 was so much better even from the get go....

Tried that, didn't fix the issue. Also tried doing a full format of my PS3's hardrive, still no luck.

Why would you do that? That takes 9-22 hours . The problem are the servers and thats they haven't fixed it. I'm sure it has everything to do with preparing the servers for the High Life/Heist updates and nothing with the patches. This is why the game game freezes online and not in SP. Anyways the freezing and lagging out has dropped quite a bit over the past week. Some people are still have it pretty bad but for the most part online seems to be more stable now.

When you begin to notice lag events and the ground not processing, find a new room.

Yeah that's a nice idea n'all, only I've had my console freeze in single player also (only once though to be fair). I formatted the hardrive as I read somewhere that the freezes could be a result of a corrupted file & figured "what the hell, it's gotta be worth a try". The console freezes were doin me head in

That's pretty weird... It never crashed for me in online except for rare cases and it was only freezing in single player. I wonder what causes that because it doesn't happen to everyone...

The lag in draw-ahead is much worse than pre-1.11. Freezing is also more prevalent, but my system will often overcome it after a few seconds. The timing out and "unexpected errors" seem about the same.

I seem to freeze way less than some people here, I play alone 95% of the time but still freeze every so often, not every session

 

but play alone as a solution is not sound advice to give to the average extrovert who plays multiplayer gta

I think we can all agree that this game has maybe about 6 months left until people just say f*ck it and move on to something else it really isn't that great and quite frankly f*cking sucks, its more a pain in the ass than it ever is fun.

so since ive frozen a bunch i swapped out my ps3s.. its fine now. amazing even, not a single freeze since i swapped em out. all the freezes are bad for your system... the more you live with them, the more often you will freeze in the future.
