Tip on avoiding the console freezing

I'm pretty sure it's somehow related with the public rooms. The last 2 days, I've been playing in private sessions and It REALLY stopped happening. Please test this theory guys.

Best way to stop the freeze is remove the disc and insert battlefield 4.

More updates and whole hearted support.

I've tested it countless times in invite sessions with the crew, still the same issue but its less frequent

There's nothing wrong with my console btw

Yes, other people have said this is working for them too. Only problem is there are no players to kill. lol

I can approve this theory as that's how i avoid it myself, funny how invite only session and private still doesn't work for some people and they still freeze but thankfully im not one of them, just really miss playing in a session with other people, guess im going back to cod :/

invite only sessions and servers with a small amount of players for me

Froze twice in invite only sessions two nights ago and I was the only one in the lobby both times.

Pretty sure it was a fluke thing, for me anyway, as that has never happened to me before.

Do you have it on next gen or current?

Idk if I should buy it, I like 3 alot, plus I heard it's buggy.

Take into account that it also happens during deathmatches/captures/races, while building in the content creator, during loading screens even and some times even while in a lobby.

With that said, It freezes everywhere except for maybe single player but that might be false since I haven't played single player for a month now.

Current...

A bit buggy here and there, but with all the explosive environments and multitude of different vehicles, weapons, artillery fire, helicopters, and everything else eye candy... You really don't get caught up in bugs.

I regularly start my gaming out of a private session, and so far i've not frozen there yet. However, twice yesterday I went into a public lobby and the game subsequently froze.

Not sure if joking or serious, lol.

Really hope it is the former.

Edit: For the record, I actually like BF4, but it makes GTA Online look like a bug free game in comparison

As others have said, I still get freezes in invite only, but they do seem to be less frequent. I've also had it freeze once in single player. I've a 500gb slim PS3 that is just over a year old, and use an ethernet cable, with an internet speed of 20mb. I never had any console freezes on any game or on GTAV before update 1.11. R* needs to sort this out asap.

I have had only one freeze since reformatting my drives and reinstalling everything fresh with 1.12. Only froze once since. But I did still freeze that once so I guess it is not a complete fix.

I think we can all agree that this game has maybe about 6 months left until people just say f*ck it and move on to something else it really isn't that great and quite frankly f*cking sucks, its more a pain in the ass than it ever is fun.

im based in the uk. pre patch .11 I had maybe 6 freezes and crash in freeroam

sometimes it freezes for a couple seconds but doesn't crash

post patch .11 I have not frozen crashed once.

However it still freezes for a couple seconds especially when driving fast.

I always join random freeroam sessions and never play invite only.

the game struggles to run/render the map on old hardware. this has always been the case. we need gtav on next gen or pc to have smooth flawless game play

No. No, I can't agree with that at all...sorry.

That isnt the type of freezing that many of us are complaining about. Those usually have a buildup of late pop-ins and laggy conditions and do eventually clear up if you slow down. The freeze I and others are refering to that has recently come up is a no warning instant pause of the game and a complete lockup of the console. The only way out of it is to manually shut off your console...and in my case even after hitting the off button it still takes 5 to 10 seconds for it to shut off when under normal conditions it is instant. First: After 1.12 yes, the game sucks.

Secondly: Yes, its very strange how the console is unresponsive even to its own power button. I'm sure these freezes aren't good for our machines at all. This is very bad.

Hang on... is the freezing still happening after 1.12? that kinda sucks... man I'm just gonna play the single player til this business is fixed.

The best thing you can do to avoid freezing is to make sure that your console is getting proper air flow.

This game taxes these old systems to the max, and they will tend to overheat and lock up if they're locked up in a cabinet or something.

Regularly clearing system cache doesn't hurt either. Otherwise we'll need to wait for the developers to fix the game's resource management issues.
