-It's annoying how car tires can get jammed so easily compared to GTA IV even though car deformation is significantly toned down.
-GTA IV lets you hotwire cars faster by tapping "accelerate" or "reverse". Another useful feature removed in V.
-It bothers me how unfitting the dot-like light coronas look on the tail lights of some cars, like the Primo and the Buffalo S.

I'd rather drive with the lights turned off than stare at this.

I would 100% prefer normal missions in Grand Theft Auto V, seriously - driving and shooting. That's enough for me. I don't care about all these wacky missions, which are just... weird.

Yeah - sometimes I wish there were more simple assassination missions like this one from III:

Huh....That's GTAIII? I'm just going by the still image, but that looks a lot more realistic than I assumed. I'm a lot more interested to try GTAIII now.

Yeah. Regardless of how fast paced it is and how wacky the animations were, the missions themselves and their objectives were the most grounded in the 3D era.

For someone who favors GTA IV's missions over the other titles, that's also a reason of why I also like GTA III's missions the most in the 3D era.

Yeah, Grand Theft Auto III is a real crime simulator, unlike Grand Theft Auto V, which is weird.

I've only played the demos for Saints Row 3 and 4, but it sounds like SR started out modeled after a serious crime game like GTA, but then went off in its own wacky direction....which GTA then ended up copying to some degree, lol?

Yeah, I still remember when some people said Saint's Row III was going to be so much better than Grand Theft Auto IV... I guess Rockstar listened to them and created Grand Theft Auto: Online DLCs.

Yeah, I think GTA SA was when the missions got way too wacky at times, then toned down in gta iv and then cranked up to 11 in GTA V and 20 in GTA Online

Damn, I hate I have to wait so long for Strangers and Freaks missions to appear... I just want to play them, I don't want to wait several days!

You know what I think? All the biggest gripes every GTA V player have stated, be it on this site or somewhere else, won't even be fixed in the PS5 release.

Hope you still enjoy the wanted level refreshing for no good reason even when you're hiding in the middle of nowhere, or the constant mission softlocks that are persistent in newer patches of the game that never happened in older patches. Things like that, y'know.

Also, I hate that sometimes mission just... disappears when you load your save...

We'll see. And there are some people who don't like to hear it, and don't like to believe it, but the failure to address things like this, especially after such a time period, and especially when a game is still being actively released and sold for a relatively high price, is positive proof that the principals at the company care nothing whatever about video games, and only about money. Any of the more glaring issues could have been rectified at any time over the years...

There are many examples, but think about how CDPR, when their financial resources were literally ~1% that of Rockstar's today, spent months addressing all of the issues with The Witcher at significant expense--and not just fixes but many improvements--and then releasing the Enhanced Edition and giving it free to existing owners.

There is no way around it. 😕

I sometimes think III did it better. I like that the mission is complete once the assassination is done, rather than a 20 minute cop chase that often follows IV and V missions. Sometimes less is more.

It's not bad at all, but I personally prefer it the way GTA IV handled it. It felt more natural that in various situations you'll be chased by the cops and you'll have to lose them, rather than getting away from it too easily and/or completing the mission while you're still wanted.

It never took me too much time to lose the cops post completing a mission's objectives too, so that wasn't an issue to me.

Me neither. There’s scope for both though. Countless crime films/series show whackings and imply a police investigation but no major manhunt. Sometimes it should just be like in The Godfather when Michael drops the gun and walks out.

I think it would be a bit much if you had to lose them that way in every single mission (and that one mission Late Checkout where the mission is passed and Ray phones you/stops you being able to escape properly while the cops are still after you is ridiculous lol) but I do like that you have to lose them in missions naturally/the same way as in freeplay sometimes, it can add some nice unpredictability and freedom. I think there's a decent balance of ones where you do and don't have to do that in IV. Beats losing them just being a fake scripted thing almost every time like in V.

3D Era Grand Theft Auto games are just nuts when it comes to that aspect... However, when it comes to Grand Theft Auto V... I don't mind losing cops, because the system they implemented is really good.

It's pretty fun racing to the marker (or pay n spray) by any means necessary and the cops just instantly ignoring you in 3D era games lol. Going as far as you can until your car sets on fire and running the rest of the way praying you'll survive. I wouldn't change it. But I am glad they made things more sophisticated in later games.

In Grand Theft Auto V you can just hide, and you will lose your wanted level, while other Grand Theft Auto games... we know how it is. That's a good system, but I hate when the game just spawns police cars in front of you sometimes...

That makes me think about ped & vehicle traffic: I think @Commander S mentioned before that care was taken to make sure they never spawn within your vision, and always spawn at a decent distance, around corners, so they come into your perception convincingly. And though I really appreciate that attention to realism/immersion, I find it frustrating that comparatively less effort was put into the gameplay mechanics, which I find much more important.

I just don't find it satisfying to look at the minimap and literally see cops teleporting into existence. It makes me feel more like I'm playing Pac-Man than desperately trying to beat the cops at their own game.

It takes way too long to lose it once you're out of sight though, you always have to sit around waiting for ages. Give me IV's wanted circle any day, it's a similar process to lose it (leave the circle and stay out of sight long enough) but much quicker. Going from playing IV to V makes the V wanted system seem horrible, you waste so much time just waiting to lose cops.

I personally thought Los Santos County geographically was all over the place with respect to real life.

It kinda bothers me that places like Blaine County and Paleto Bay are located directly north of Los Santos when in reality they should be facing east towards Palomino.

Really sucks honestly because they could have instead put in like an Oxnard or Huntington Beach parody in the north and south regions instead, with the former making much more sense since they had Channel X in this game.

I don't know, I always hide in some alley, or I change cars (which is a great system and should have been implemented in every Grand Theft Auto game) and they don't know where I am, however when I have one star it seems to be much longer... umm.

Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V are the only Grand Theft Auto games in which you can just run away on foot, but in Grand Theft Auto V you do have to hide, because they'd just murder you, which is sad.

Even if they did, I still wouldn't buy it. Like hell I'm buying a 7-year old game a third time just for a few minor improvements. R* can get f*cked.

I don't have an issue with escaping/hiding, I just think they should've made the amount of time it takes for the wanted level to expire once you've escaped/hidden shorter (although I do agree the changing cars thing is cool). It didn't used to bother me but going back to it after playing IV it seems like a brutally long time you have to waste dealing with wanted levels in comparison. Just makes me never want to mess around or cause a bit of trouble when A) it's too easy to get/increase a wanted level and B) losing it is so time consuming.

Nevermind "fixed" or "minor improvements"--I haven't even done a second playthrough of GTAV yet, and now I'm hearing that it's actually worse than it was when I played in 2017, because Online patches are never tested in "Story Mode"?

I can't stand piracy, but someone has got to figure out a way to play Always-Online SP games without requiring a Web connection. It's led to all kinds of B.S. that could be seen coming a mile away.

Another thing I kinda wanna bring up with the V rendition of LS is the atmosphere, though this is just nitpicking.

Midnight Club LA had a stronger Cali vibe than V did, and the map was a lot smaller.

Los Santos just felt like Steelport, which is basically another bland caricature of a major American city.

I don't know about consoles, but on PC Grand Theft Auto V looks weird, when it comes to graphics, and for me Los Santos looks really fake... I don't know, Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto IV seems more warm than Los Santos...
